Awesome
My granddaughters love it

My kids are happy learning with this kit!
Once opened, we were up and running within 5 minutes. My kids took turns learning to use the microscope and they were at awe with what they saw. The included slides were great. I also bought other slides. This is an endless set of specimens to discover, observe and learn. Easy to use. My 8 year old knows how to use it.

Max Magnification is 400x, not the 1000x advertised
This is a relatively easy microscope to setup and use for beginners. However, I was disappointed to learn that it only came with the 10x eyepiece resulting in a maximum magnification of 400x. The description notes potential magnification up to 1000x using a 25x eyepiece. Unfortunately, the microscope I received only had the 10x eyepiece. Perhaps I received an incomplete set.

Great microscope to get kids into science!
Despite all the various reviews my microscope came well packed and all of the items and glass slides were inside their own boxes. All components were inside sealed styrofoam container inside a plain carton box. Everything in the pictures except color filter ring were there. My microscope does have this ring but it has no filters, just holes of different size, I would assume to control amount of light that comes from bottom light source. It came with lots of sample slides and overall worked really well. I really cannot complain about optics and it is remarkably decent given the cost. I did want one that has dual light source system and while top light works okay, it isn't bright enough so when your objective is too close to the sample, it blocks too much light. We used a simple usb LED snake light to overcome this. Some other reviews mentioned just getting a cheaper version with only bottom light which probably makes sense but I think relatively small price difference is worth for the top light even though it isn't as good as it could have been. Microscope does have light intensity control so I might just swap the LED's for better higher output ones to make for a self contained improvement. Otherwise, the whole thing is metal and seems really sturdy. Adjustment knobs are also solid and work well. So I consider this a very good product as my daughter and myself are really happy with it.

Good Microscope + Good Book = Good Deal
We got this for our five-year-old and seven-year-old for Christmas. Even the seven-year-old is a little too young to handle it carefully, but I think this microscope was a really smart choice. It has 4x, 10x, and 40x magnification, just like any microscope we would have used in school. It also has an option to light an object from the top, so you can magnify non-translucent objects, like a leaf or a little pile of powdered sugar (that’s what we’ve looked at so far, anyway!). We got it just for a fun gift, but as parents, so far we’re enjoying it as much as the kids! I chose this one because it seems like a good value with the microscope book it comes with, which really is a great book, and I included some images from the book. The book is fine for the 7 year old, but is really aimed toward someone older. The microscope images are nice and crisp. I don’t work in a lab or anything, but both of us hold degrees in scientific fields and have used microscopes a bit, and we both think it’s good. It comes with some already made slides, and then supplies to make your own. The microscope plugs into the wall but also comes with batteries. So if you want it all in one kit, I recommend this product.

Wonderful, Incredible Microscope/Deal; Packaging from HELL!!!!
I'm giving this five stars because it is an incredible kit...BUT!!!! BROKEN GLASS!!! I wondered if AmScope had fixed this. I thought, surely, this was an issue a while ago. NOPE! It is a CURRENT ISSUE!!! Here's the deal. The glass slide covers are NOT SEALED! (see first pic for that package) These suckers are about an 1" square, and they come out and get bounced around. I had to carefully unpackage everything, wipe it down with paper towels (to grab the glass shards while also being disposable), and then dab spots with tap to get up some that were just stuck. Because the slide covers are so small and thin, and the microscope is encased in styrofoam, they stick like glue, almost! (see second pic, they slip down the side, broken pieces throughout) It took me almost an hour to unpack the items and clean up! All that said, this microscope is WONDERFUL! It has a great deal of versatility and shows promise to intrigue budding scientists and young biologists alike. Honestly, minus the glass business, I want to buy one of these for myself!!! I've missed having a microscope on hand! And this one blends the balance of the different light exposures, allowing unique perspectives on translucent, semi-lucent, and opaque materials alike. It is worth the price and then some! Just be VERY CAREFUL when you open this sucker! Personally, I ended up throwing all the packaging away, just because I could not get rid of every sliver (thought I was good until a sliver went into my finger!). Still, I don't think you'll find this kind of deal for this kind of microscope! It's worth the bit of discomfort!

High quality, Sturdy
My 7 year old wanted a microscope. The price tag was slightly high but I wanted to make sure that her first experience with one would be enjoyable and shocking. This is extremely important in sparking science interest with children. I am SO GLAD we went ahead with this combo. The device is sturdy and easy to use, the slide are glass, and the ease of focus is incredible. You can CLEARLY see the samples...even she can focus it within a few quick seconds. If you are trying to spark your kids' interest, go with this. It is quality!

Does everything I need and for a great price.
This is the best microscope for this value in my opinion. It is very easy to use and focus, has bottom and top lights. I can look at grains of sand or see the individual blood cells in a drop of blood from a cut moving. Comes with a bunch of extra slides and few slides with cool things to look at. We have had a lot of fun with the kids thinking of different things to look at and it can do it all.

Great microscope, despite underwhelming packaging and no instructions
Great value kit for the money. Note - comes in plain cardboard box, we taped a picture on the front in order to gift it. Also doesn’t include instructions; you’re supposed to be able to print from manufacturers website but was unable to. They did provide via email but they are poorly written and don’t explain a lot. You’ll have to google basics of how to use a microscope, and more importantly how to properly prepare slides. Finally, doesn’t include a case for microscope and all the accessories. Overall though, great inexpensive kit for kids and teens.

Excellent microscope for kids and students!
The microscope has clear sharp scratch-free lens. Dual light source allows for viewing slides and larger opaque objects like coins. This was a birthday gift for my 7yr old niece. She loves looking at both slides and objects! I personally think the stage does not go down far enough to see opaque objects. It is much better suited to smaller things like slides of cells. However you would have to buy 2 microscopes otherwise. For my niece this is a great starter microscope offering both options. The book offers a lot of suggestions of things to see. The kit has everything you need to see or make your own slides. This is an incredibly affordable and comprehensive microscope kit that will serve my niece well into high school.

Great product\Bon produit éducatif
We love using that microscope the booklet can be a little bit more improuve or up to date. Super produits éducatif. Le livre pourrait être mis un peu plus à jours, mais très bien dans l'ensemble.
