A decent automatic feeder
I bought this for feeding canned food to my cat so that I would be "taken out of the equation" in terms of feeding (ie every time I go into the kitchen he accosts me for food). First, this Amazon feeder was easy to program - basically you are simply choosing the number of minutes between feedings - there are no other things to set. Second, it is easy enough to get the lid off for cleaning or to refill the food compartments - I don't think that my cat would have figured out how to open it but some very food motivated pets might be able to swing it. I think this would just be trial and error for your individual pet. My biggest beef with the feeder (and this would likely be a plus for some people) was that it was TOO quiet. I was sitting 10' away from it the first time we used it and I couldn't even hear it rotate/open. This means that my cat wouldn't have been able to hear it either and I need him to get to the food before my dog does. The Qpets automated feeder has a feature where you can record your voice or another sound to play whenever a new compartment opens up and I wished that the Amazon feeder had this. My cat also had a difficult time getting the food (canned or dry) out of the deep wells. I think I could have lived with this and he would likely have figured out how to more efficiently get the food out if not for the other issue I had with it. Overall though, I think that this is a good feeder for the money and depending on your household it may work just fine for you. Just wasn't right for us.

It's decent
I got these for my cats when I take an overnight trip and don't want them to gorge themselves on a day's worth of food immediately. I like that these are very easy to assemble, open, clean, and add food. My cats have no problem with getting all the dry food out of the wells. That said, this is also a problem, because every time I leave, I come home to the lids off. I have no idea if this product is broken or if my cats are just too smart and figured out how to get the lid off.... My other (minor) frustration with this product is the timer. Yes, it works great, but I would prefer to be able to set times of the day (8am, 1pm, 4pm, 8pm, etc) rather than it will rotate every x number of hours. In short, I think it works. I can work around the small issue I have with it, and it's sturdy enough to handle my cats' energetic abuse to get all the food at once.

Get a clock one, not a timer, or you'll do more work.
Returned mine, I didn't know too much about clock vs timer function. Found out the hard way that timer function is hard to deal with. If you are feeding 1x per day, you have to wake up at exactly the time you want to set the timer countdown. Anyways, this would be much easier with clock function, where you set current time and the time you want to feed, no need to wait to set things up.

No complaints so far
Only used a short time and it’s done job. My wish would be to have clock for easier scheduling. Having to set schedule at exact time it’s working can be frustrating. It really really needs a voice recording or sound to announce it’s time to eat. It is Silent. My cat doesn’t even know it has moved.

Perfect for pets with timed medication needs
This has been a life saver! My pup developed seizures at a year old and unfortunately with my work schedule I was stressed with how to get him his meds twice a day. I am able to set the timer and put his pills in a little pill pocket or piece of salami without it getting caught in a mechanism! During an incredibly stressful season, this was a game changer for me!

Tiny
I thought this was set by time clock but no. It’s set by timer. Set it for how ever many minutes and it counts down. Second, it’s small. I feel bad as my cat has a hard time reaching the corners. Fortunately she uses her paw the grab, lol. But still. For the price, not bad. *** EDIT 5•09•23’ *** Changed to 3 stars as my cat who lives wet food did not eat much out of this. Not sure if she was having whisker fatigue but whatever it was, she quit eating while I was gone. Had to stop using it. Now it’s just ‘junk’.

Not bad, does its job
A straightforward product, set the timer, and it will open each slot in that interval... meaning: If you set it to 2 hours, it will open the next slot every two hours. This is fine, but makes it difficult as one needs to plan ahead when to set the timer if one wants to use it for multiple feedings, meaning: If I want to feed the cat at 6am, 12pm, 6pm, I must be awake and present at one of those times, and set the timer for 6 hours. A better product would be one that has a clock and would open at a specific time each day. Overall, not bad... but not as hoped for.

Doesn't stand up to squirrels
Got this to put on my covered porch for my friendly local squirrels. As soon as they're done with the one compartment they just shove the lid to the next full one, or, in one case, just yank the whole lid off. If it can't withstand a snacky 3 pound rodent I'm guessing it won't have a chance against an impatient husky. May be good for a super sedate, elderly cat though.

Good, but not sturdy enough for my cat
I'll preface this by saying that my cat is a tenacious, determined, food motivated gremlin that used to be a stray. This cat pulls open cupboard doors, drags out bags of bread, once munched on a Satsuma, crawled into a communal waste bin, and once ate then vomited a piece of cling film that had once contained an egg mayo sandwich. So this is 3kg of pure hangry cat. (she's been checked over and tested on, don't worry just a remnant of her previous life) So this timed cat feeder was easy to set, ran to time, easy to fill and replace and initially was going well. Until the cat started clawing at the top, kicking the sides and dragging the feeder across the room. Each time she managed either to pry the lid off, or offset the turning table so it flat out didn't work. I think this would work well with a normal cat. Just not my cat. Also would be nice to have some sort of noise/recording when the door turns as an alert/call the pet over.

Utile solamente per gatti poco furbi
The media could not be loaded.

Really a 5 portion timer not 6, but good value
We bought this to feed pellets and sticks to our rabbits twice a day (in addition to the bail of hay they have) to cover weekend trips. The portion size capacity of each section was at the limit to fit all the food in for two rabbits and quite a small aperture for them to fight over access to it too, but just about works okay. Two things to note are: 1) The timer works on an ‘interval’ basis, in other words, you only set one time/duration and that is the interval at which the feeder then rotates to the next section. So if i set a timer of 12:00 it will rotate to the next section every 12hrs, so gives 2 feeds a day., for three days (6 sections in total). This does mean however, that you need to set it going at about the correct time of the first feed, as there is no delay feature/does not work on a clock timer. 2) This then leads us onto the next issue, where there is no retractible cover over the first section, which means when I go to put the feeder down, it is already showing/offering the first feed…which in effect wastes/uses that section, since the rabbits will immediately eat this portion, whereas I would like to just manually feed the rabbits at that point myself and for the feeder to have a temporary cover over the feeding window when the timer is set, so that they then get their next feed, say 12hrs later, fully using the 6 portions on the timer…as it is, you only really get 5 timed portions…so I have marked it down a bit for that poor design. But the interval (timer) is easy to set and it is easy to dismantle for cleaning and filling, does not take up a lot of space and is good value, for a very basic feeder. Just make sure it does what you want it to. I would only put dry food in here, too.

Hopeless!
I have 2 automatic feeders already and needed a third, as the price of the one I purchased previously has shot up to around £75 I thought this would be a good alternative. I was so very wrong! You cannot set a specific time to feed your cat which is frustrating when I like all three fed at the same time. The bigger issue is that the cats within an hour worked out how to get into it and devoured all the biscuits in one go. So if you need this to space out their snack times whilst your away the chances are on day one they'll have nothing left for the remaining days. Please don't waste your money on something that doesn't work. Stick with the higher priced model with a time display and voice recorder, its a real investment and solidly made!

Don't buy for a smart cat
If your cat is both intelligent and food motivated, they will find a way to pull the top off of this. Mine worked it out in 15 minutes. If your cat is of average feline intelligence or is not a big eater, this is a safe product to buy. This product worked well for my other two cats - but the smart one is never allowed near it again.
