This is a great feeder but as everyone has said, complicated to program. That is our Biggest gripe. Also, the first one CAME with the adapter, and using batteries is a pain and short-lived. So not happy with this attempt on their behalf to sell unit for under $100 by taking the adaptor off and selling it separately. Find that to be a bit cheap on their behalf. Otherwise, it is very long-lived, durable, and we keep ours outside on the back porch and it does just fine. We get temps in single digits in the winter and it has never cracked. But our last one quit for no reason. We tore it apart and the mechanics simply gummed up and stopped working. Instead of attempting to clean piece by piece and tearing it completely apart we felt it was worth buying a new unit instead. Right now as my husband attempts to program it using our own miserable batteries (very unhappy not having the adaptor included and the last one was chewed partly through by mice) he is cursing it. They really need to simplify the programming, otherwise it is an outstanding unit, very reliable, and even when power went off then resumed the unit automatically continued to do its' job. So 4 stars for reliability and the fact that it holds lots of food for at least 2 weeks for our labrador, but one less due to complexity for programming and NO ADAPTOR. I think their fee is pretty steep already, let alone removing the adaptor and selling it separate. Kind of a cheap method of making more money in my opinion.

Works great for us
I have two cats and an erratic work schedule, which didn't sit well with the cats, who were never sure what time they would be fed. Initially, they were both a bit timid due to the mechanical noise it makes when preparing to dispense the food. However, they now both sprint towards it when they hear it as they know it's feeding time. It is a bit noisy when it dispenses food but has been fantastic. I felt a bit silly for spending so much on a cat feeder but it has provided a level of security and consistency which has helped relax the cats. And I no longer worry about getting home late from work to whiny cats begging for food nor am I awakened at 4 or 5 am by meowing from hungry cats. I do wish the programming could be simplified but overall, this has been worth the month. We've been using it over a year now without any issues and I would highly recommend it.

Item photo is not correct
The picture shows the power adapter for the Petsafe Smart Feed (which is the one I needed). The Simply Feed is the model that does not have wifi connection. I'm returning the product and will have to purchase from the manufacturer to get the one pictured. I have both of these models. I used the Simply version for at least 7 years and had no problems. When the wifi version came out, I purchased it for the convenience of dropping food from anywhere in the world. I highly recommend either model. The older models where given to a friend and their are still working. From what I can tell from visually examining the adapter I received, it is of good quality.

Proof that our cats don't just love us because we feed them
I hoped my cats would stop nagging us to check their (not empty) food dish, and it worked. Once they learned that small quantities of food would appear at regular intervals throughout the day and night, they became a lot less stressed about food. Not only did they stop getting upset about a tiny spot of exposed dish at the bottom, they stopped crowding around the dish when the food arrives and gulping it down. Bonus...they're actually eating less and are finally the weights the vet recommended. It also gives us a little more peace of mind when we travel, knowing that if for some reason the person checking on them were to miss a day they'll still have food. And contrary to the popular axiom, of course the kitties still demand snuggles, sit on our laps, sleep on our feet, and are wonderful companions. If anything they're more cuddley because they don't spend any time fussing about food. If I could change anything, it would be for the dish to be a little farther away from the base. We propped up the back of the dish a bit so the food would slide to the front, giving them more whisker room.

Great product
I love this pet feeder. I bought this in November of 2018, it still works like a charm! The clock is a little slow, you may have to adjust it every now and then to correct the current time, but it doesn't stop the feeder from feeding your animals, it just may be 5 to 10 minutes off. Not a big deal. My only slightly negative is, it is a bit cumbersome to clean, but it's not horrible, I've had other pet feeders that were way worse to clean. I totally recommend this pet feeder. 2 years old and still going strong!

Great, but why is this extra?
This is an absolute-must have for this pet feeder, and it works perfectly. Saves a lot of money on batteries. However, it is *absurd* that this is a $15 *ADD ON* to a $120 pet feeder - this should come standard! And $15 is WAY too expensive for a very simple AC converter.

Should have come with the feeder
I strongly feel like this should come with the feeder. It's great and works just fine but it's an obvious grab for a little extra money from the customer in my opinion. I really just can't imagine there are that many people who use it on a regular basis in a place with no wired power source. It's a necessity for efficient use. If one came for free and you had to buy another if it failed or you lost it, that'd be fine, but it's dumb you have to buy this separately even at the beginning.

Output voltage?
Works perfect. Only issue was it didnt state the output voltage in the description and these plugs come in many different outputs. And it's critical to know that.

Should Be Included with Petsafe Feeder
Because the Feeder comes separate you have no idea what power adapter you need. By the time I got the Feeder and realized I already had an adapter, because they are generic and cheap as opposed to this expensive one, I couldn't return this adapter because the shipping cost was prohibitive.
