Good all around basic safe with smart features.

I like this safe. This is my second. Our first safe is more beefy than this but, alas, I am in the middle of a move and need something small that will allow me to secure my valuables. This safe works fine. As others have mentioned, the steel used here isn't the thickest so it doesn't feel super heavy duty, but when anchored to the floor or a shelf, there is plenty of protection here in the unlikely event of a break in. I also really like access to the app as you can unlock the safe remotely or get a notification in the event of a break in. The app is basic but free so I call it a win. This is a solid little basic safe. It isn't fire proof which is worth noting but should survive all but a catastrophic house fire. I keep a firearm, passport, watches, and some loose credit cards with room to spare. Overall a good little package. Recommend.

Mediocre safe with unpolished smart features

Overall, this smart safe is underwhelming. The app set up is not straightforward, the safe itself has no extra qualities like a fire or water rating, and the app itself is not very polished at least on Android. Starting with the safe, it is Ok build quality, not unlike a hotel safe as others pointed out. It is a nice medium size, however. It has a shelf inside, though the shelf is just held in place by two twist ties. It also comes with felt sheets for the surfaces, but they are not attached in anyway. The door has some spring action to help pop open when unlocked, which is nice, and it has a small LED on the back to point in to the safe for some added light, though it turns off very quickly so I end up needed a flashlight anyway. The safe comes with pre-drilled holes for mounting it, 4 in the bottom and 4 in the back. Included are 4 lag screws with concrete anchors, so mounting to anything else you will need to get your own hardware. Really, the value of the save is very low, so for the cost of this, I think what you are really paying for is the smart features. I feel, though they do work, they are not very polished at all. The Yale Access app (as of this review) feels very unpolished and is a bit difficult to use. The set up seemed like it would be straight forward, but at least on my Samsung phone, it demanded a setting be turned off that is not visible in the Samsung Settings app, so I was unable to get the Wifi set up with my own phone. Yale support said it was a known issue with no ETA to fix, so if you get the Wifi model, be prepared to use an iPhone or old Android. When the safe is first set up on the Yale Access, it defaults it to being a door lock, which is confusing. You can rename it to something about a safe, but that is just a confusing default. It is also very confusing on how to set a PIN for the safe using the app, which is advertised. It is done my first going to the guest list and then your own name and then you can set an entry code for the safe there.

Nice features, but lacking in some areas

I have mixed feelings about this smart safe from Yale. I love Yale products. I have one of their smart door locks, and it has worked great for me. But when I first saw this safe, I wondered why I would need a safe that is connected to my WiFi network. I finally ordered it because I thought of 2 possible reasons why it might be useful for me: (1) I'm away from home and I want to give someone in my family access to the safe, but I don't want to give them the code for the keypad; (2) I want to be alerted if somebody accesses the safe without my knowledge (Maybe they guessed the code, they found the key, or they just broke it). I plan to keep my most important documents inside (Such as my passport) and also medicines that I wouldn't want my children to have access to. I wish the safe was larger, so that I could use it to store more than just small things like documents or medicines. It would be much more useful to me if it was twice as large. The other thing that bothers me about the safe is that it's not as well-built as I would have hoped for the price. I think a comparable safe like this one without WiFi capability would sell for $50-$100. Adding $200 just for the WiFi features is too much of a markup. For the price they are selling this safe for, it should be larger and also be built like a tank. So that is the reason for my rating. Despite these issues, if you need a safe with these capabilities, I don't think you'll find a better model currently.

Getting error on App

The safe failed after having its for less than a month.I never receive app notifications even it shows I have finished all the setup. The safe is useless without the alarm features and the mechanism is easy to be broken as well. Feeling cheated and disappointed!

Heavy duty

This safe is sturdy It’s a great size, about the same size as hotel safes, little bigger than some ive seen It is wifi operational but it also comes with a key to unlock it

Very disappointed in this order

It doesn't even deserve a single star since the App never works. The connection process times out over and over again. I am pretty tech-savvy I just could not get it going even with more than 20 attempts. I am speaking from experience. Save your money.

Good quality for a smaller safe.

The safe itself seems to be good quality & is definitely sturdy. For some reason I have not been able to get the email to link to the safe in order to access it remotely. Which is fine because it was easy to program the code & there is a key if you have trouble opening the safe for some reason. It is light weight enough to carry off so if you are planning on getting one you do need to consider a space to keep it where you can secure it to something heavy. There are pre-drilled holes & screws provided to secure the safe which is very nice.
