Good enough and kinks can be avoided
First off, if you have ever wrapped a present for someone and used the edge of scissors to turn the straight ribbon into a pig tail curl to look fancy, then you do something similar with this throw line. Unlike ribbon being pulled across an edge, rope that twists and kinks will become straight after pulled over an edge or small radius a few times. I do this with my climbing ropes too so I can work out the kinks from a fresh spool or some bone head decided to coil my climbing rope like an extension cord. I simply set up 2 chairs and lay a broom across. In the middle of the broom I have a carabiner that I pull the line through back and forth until the kinks and twists are out. Keep tension on both sides as you do this. You will have to work it back and forth a few times fyi. Lastly, learn how to coil properly. Rope storage can mean the difference between a bird's nest or a perfect cast. Good luck and have fun. Not rated 5 stars because my line came damaged in the middle and the stitching on the bag looks like a child did it. If you're handy you can make this product better when It does fail...oh yeah and remember if the women don't find you handsome they will atleast find you handy

Works for its intended purpose, but tangles too easily
This throw weight and line works well at getting a line high up in a tree so you can attach and drag a larger, sturdier rope into and around the tree. The line is thin, very light weight, inelastic (so no stretching issues) and easy to pull through tree branches and bark after tossing the weight over a branch. The line seems tough, too, so I don't worry about it being worn by pulling it through rough tree bark. The weight itself is sturdy and seems an appropriate weight for throwing the line. The weight is heavy enough to pull the line back to the ground after being tossed over a branch. I've use this several times with old, dead oak trees on our property and it absolutely does the job of getting a line into a tree. That said, its huge drawback is that the line tangles far too easily. I have not figured out a good storage method to prevent this from happening yet. Perhaps a spool of some kind would do the trick, but thus far each time I wanted to use it, I had to spend 15 minutes or so patiently untangling the line first. It's frustrating enough that, if I don't figure out a storage solution to eliminate this problem, I'll be looking for an alternative that doesn't have this issue.

It did the job
Like another review stated, my rope came with a few pulled threads. Other than that the rope held up well. The throw weight did a great job. When my throw weight fell it was mostly hitting grass and dirt. I also got it stuck on top of a branch, which I feared might tear it up, but once it finally fell it was in great condition. I launched it several more times and it did great holding up. Remember to separate your rope before use, if it kinks or knots and you use a launcher system, you may either lose both or have to do extra work undoing it. In my use, I used a Big Shot Arborist sling shot to launch the weight over a limb over 30 feet high. The weight itself went at least 40 to 50 feet through the tree. The purpose was to get the weight over a rotting branch, then to hoist a stronger rope up and over, in order to pull the branch down. A good yank on my rope and it came down. I did this to a couple more branches.

First toss, and boom my antenna was up in minutes
I have never used one of these. Nor have I ever raised an antenna for ham radio. The first toss went right over the trees. I attached my Slim Jim antenna to the line and within within minutes my antenna was up in my trees. I was hitting repeaters a couple of towns away! I had so much fun, Im purchasing a second to hang my GMRS antenna. Great product! I RARELY write Amazon reviews. This one was worth my time!

Great throw weight, nice line.
I'm not an arborist, but I usually have some branches to remove, clean, etc. after a storm. Over the past week, we had 3 Nor'easter in NJ, and I had to get a few rather large oaks branches removed. They were broken, just dangling in the tree branches. In the past, I took a 3 oz lead fishing sinker and flung it up and over with some kite string, or the like. It worked most of the time, but I always worry about that lead weight cracking my skull open, even with a hardhat! I purchased this this past week to get a line up into the broken branches. Gave it a good swing, a few tosses, and got lucky...the weight went up and over, the line was smooth as silk, and slid nicely, did not hang up on the oak bark, and then I was able to tie and pull the rigging rope right up. Yanked the branches out with my truck The weight bag stitching looks ok, D ring if good. Line is smooth. One complaint is the mess when I tried to untangle the rope out of the bag, and straighten the twists, etc. It was a twisted, knotted mess. Eventually got it all straight, put the line into small bucket, and it was ready for use. The line is a bit stiff, but I expect it will soften with a few more tosses. The color is easy to see when there are no leaves. No idea yet if I'll see it in the leaves.

UP..... UP...... Up in a tree. It did the job for Me.
Launched this sucker over a 70 foot tree with ease using the Big Shot launcher. Ths supplied rope works OK, but needs some coaxing to get the weight back to ground. Next time I’ll cost the rope with Corn Starch or Talcum Powder to provide a little extra slipperiness. Seems fairly durable as the several times I missed the branch, the weight hit the ground like a missile....

Works perfectly
We needed to cut some dead limbs about 40' up and used this throw bag to get a retrieving line up and over the limbs and then attached a manual chain saw to cut the limbs. We were able to get the throw bag well over 60' using the sling shot approach. Never hangs up. Great product.

Works greatest
Perfect for felling trees. Line seemed a little stiff at first but it straightened out well. Very happy with this product.

Waste of money
My dad always said, "a wise person learns from other people's mistakes". So, let me help you be wise from my mistake: don't buy this crap like I did. I took the chance because I figured that even if the line was terrible (which it is), at least the throw bag can't be too bad (it's not too bad). The line is very elastic. That's not what you want in throw line. It's also very thick. Which means not only is it (relatively) heavy, it also has a lot of friction over a branch, and too much drag through the air. The result is a line that doesn't fly very far, and even if you get it over the branch you want, there's too much weight and friction to allow the throw bag to pull it down the other side. The throw bad is ok. A bit cheaply made, but ok as a backup. Definitely too light for the line supplied. My suggestion, go with some proper line (strongly recommend notch acculine 2.2mm), and save yourself a lot of time and trouble.
