Shadow - No Problem
12x50 Diamondback HD is awesome for bird watching, low light use is great as advertised and seeing into and through the shadows is beyond belief. Focus is quick and the FOV is enough to easily find the birds. These replaced a 15 year old Nikon Travelite IV 12x25 which developed double vision, no warranty from Nikon or LL Bean without the sales receipt and original warranty card which I didn't save. The Vortex no-nonsense warranty is there if I ever need it, no registration or receipt required. I also bought a 10x42 Diamondback HD and they are a bit smaller in size which makes them a good fit for my wife. Both pair are just fantastic and almost like looking in 3D. The case is padded and a good size to fit the glasses but I don't see us strapping it to our chest. We just use the strap with the glasses. Lens covers are functional and the flip down object lens is nice to have. A great feature is the adjustable eyecup on the ocular lens that allows you to press them against your eyes to reduce the shake. A top notch pair of binoculars, the best I have ever owned or used and at a price that is affordable.

Great product, fantastic warranty, amazing value
I was looking for a set of binoculars that would balance performance, weight, quality, and price, and these are perfect. For casual travel needs, occasional bird watching, rugged trips, and use with glasses, these binos are a great fit. In fact, we used them so much that we ended up banging them up a bit. This is where Vortex's superior warranty service came into play. Through a simple 3 minute call the issue was diagnosed, and replacement parts were on the way. This level of service is almost unheard of, and is a major reason why Vortex will be on the top of my consideration set future optics needs!

Perfect for Travel
I love bird watching but I hate carrying around those heavy binoculars. I've done that for years. Now I have a trip to Africa and weight limits on luggage make it essential for me to have a lighter pair of binoculars. But I still want good, clean, sharp optics. I got these which cost a bit more than I hoped to spend but I decided it would be worth it if they are good. I took them with me on a bike ride today and spent some time birding at various rest areas. I am very pleased with the optics of these binoculars. They are not tiny binoculars but a lot less heavy than normal size ones and I don't feel I'm losing any quality. I look forward to using these on my Serengeti trip.

Pretty nice but could improve in some spots.
These are my first real pair of binos. I got these as a surprise gift for my wife for our trip to the Everglades. Apparently there are lots of birds there lol. She like birds. Me, eh…not my bag so much. Compared to the gift shop binos at the national park, these are amazing. The optics are razor sharp. They are as sharp as the pictures taken from my mirrorless camera lenses costing 8x as much. I was surprised at the clarity and sharpness. The first thought that ran through my head was I need to get a longer range pair but I snapped back to reality. The 8x28 is perfect. I think the next size up would have too much “shake” making it harder to zero in on the object. She would complain and I’d never hear the end of it. Ugh. These can “shake” a little but it’s not that noticeable, as others have mentioned. The distance is nice. The controls and adjustability are top notch. It stays where you left it. The size and weight is very manageable. It’s not too heavy so you can carry this around all day and it won’t hurt your neck. It comes with a nice case that includes a shoulder strap for the case and a neck strap for the binos. Incidentally, the rubber eye cover loop is not broken, it is split by design. That is so you can remove the rubber cover and still have it attached to the neck strap on one side. Otherwise, it would be hard to use with the rubber cap attached to both sides of the neck strap. What I didn’t like about it… The rubber eye covers, the eye side, comes off rather easily when you put it in the case. The large side rubber cover also comes off too easily. I wish these snapped on or took a little more force to pull off. The metal strap loops are too small. You can only slide a single flat strap through it. So any strap thicker than that won’t fit. I had purchased a OP/TECH strap thinking I could install it but I can’t. It’s wider so it’s more comfortable and usually the included straps are junk-but the included neck strap is okay. All in all my experience with the first real pair of binos has been stellar. I’ve purchased a red dot sight from vortex previously and it has been great. Vortex as a company continues to impress me with these binos.

Small and light bino with great optics. Excellent value for money.
Excellent build quality and great optics especially at this price. Focus dial has the perfect resistance for one handed use; Obtaining focus is precise and quick. The perfect companion on hikes. Every bit as effective as the bigger Diamondback HDs. I would say less color fringing than the larger objective lens models which is always a positive. Much smaller than the 10x42 shown. One of my favorite binos in my arsenal. The body feels good in hand and FOV is good. Image brightness is surprisingly above average given the objective lens diameter. Cons: A little more finicky finding view due to the smaller exit pupil. Once you get use to it, a non issue. Easy recommendation. Great build quality and very good optical performance.

Just what I hoped for
I bought these after watching several YouTube videos. They are the perfect size for me to carry while hiking and bird watching. I really like how quick to focus they are, and the images are crisp and clear. The weight of these vortex diamondback HD binoculars is less than a pound and that makes them easy on the neck while using the provided strap that comes with them. I am very happy with this purchase and will be using them again today on a guided hike of some local marshlands.

Tremendous value.
These are by far the best in class. The image is extremely clear with no color degradation or imperfection. Would highly recommend to anyone considering a 12x50 purchase.

Amazing binoculars
These Vortex Optics Diamondback HD 8x42 Binoculars are amazing. They are very well build, have excellent, bright image clarity, are easy to focus (even if you have glasses) and are quite light for their power. Well worth the money.

Quality without the price
Love these, nice quality, good optics. If you need to prove your worth to your friends, yes buy the Zeiss, but if you want a good quality pair of binos that do what you need them to do the Vortex do what you need.

Wow.. Superb binoculars
These are just great, very clear view, easy to carry around, quality product for a fair price. The unconditional warranty is unmatched too, no worries for the life of the product, what more could you ask for.
