Perfect grip tape for airborne bodhran tippers!
I tape all of my wooden bodhran tippers with this tape prior to playing. Inherent friction helps greatly and also provides a nice base to spray a light coat of grip adhesive. Highly recommend!

Not too bad
I bought this more for the finger tape aspect than stick tape. I wanted something I could throw on my fingers where I normally end up with blisters after a few hours of playing. It sticks very well and has never worked itself loose even through the most intense sessions. It almost works too well because if you lose where the end is, it is nearly impossible to take off without cutting it.

So far so good.
I have very dry hands and have always had a problem with my sticks slipping. I've tried lots of things, and for a while settled in on Vic Firth stick wax. It worked great, and allowed me to use any sticks I wanted, however, I found myself having to rub wax off my snare rim after every practice. I tried dipped sticks and have been using those for a while. The problem I find is I have to use what's available which are typically 5A's and 5B's. I also don't like that on many, I feel the dip goes up the stick too far which seems unnecessary. I tried other stick tapes with no luck so gave this a try. Pleasantly surprised so far. I say "so far so good" because I've only used it on sticks for 2 practice sessions. It's very thin guaze with a tacky feel, but not too tacky. It's not adhesive as other reviews mention but will stay on your stick if you wrap it. The problem I had is it gradually slid off the stick, but a quick wrap of tape at the top and bottom held it in place. What I like is, it's thin and doesn't add much weight to the stick. You can still get a good cross stick sound unlike other wraps. And it definitely helps with my grip. This product has allowed me to use my preferred sticks which I really like. My only concern is durability being it's so thin so I'll have to see how it goes over time. And you don't get a lot in the roll, so maybe not the best value for your money. But as far as feel and providing grip, this stuff definitely does the trick. Just requires a little tape at the top and bottom to secure in place. Worth a try if you don't like dip sticks, or thick stick wraps. Update: well after a week of practice, the tape didn't last too long and is already worn through to the wood of the stick. Plus, it smells. My hands smell like skunk after playing. Must be whatever they put on the tape to provide the tackiness.

Different from regular stick wraps, but not in a bad way
This is different than other stick tape I have used. The stuff I normally use is the regular smooth but grippy (not sticky, just ... grippy) stuff that also adds a very slight cushion. This feels more like athletic tape or pre-rap. Not smooth. But with zero abbrasion. It works, and so far I like it. For me, it’s definitely better than a naked stick. I haven’t decided if I like it as much as regular drum stick tape though. I DO like that since it comes in a roll, you can make mistakes, or try different things, and you’re not limited to 2 wraps per package and you just need to do it one way and that’s it don’t screw it up. Definitely worth trying this product to see if it works for you.

Sticky but need to adhere it to stick.
I bought this to keep my drumsticks from sliding out of my hands. While it did do that I noticed while practicing my stick was sliding out of the tape I had wound 1/3 the way up the stick. I assume you would need to tape these in place to keep them on the sticks.

Good Tape
As the other reviewer said, this tape doesn't use an adhesive substance or anything, it is just a rubbery mesh that only sticks to itself. Therefore, it doesn't stick to drumsticks all that well. Even if you wrap it really tight on the stick, it will still slide up and down the stick a little as you play. It's not that big a deal, it just may get annoying after a while. Other than the sliding, this tape is great. It gives a really good grip. Also, since the tape doesn't use an adhesive, it is reusable, though it may wear down after long use. The roll it comes with is also a great value. It seems there's enough tape to cover at least 20 sticks. Overall a great value, if you don't mind a little sliding.

Used for my fingers on bass - yay no more skin tears!
I play bass hard and this stuff works great. I wrapped it on my pointer finger because I always rip it open, and it stuck really good without feeling like it was in the way. I was tempted to just buy cheap bandage wrap instead but I can tell why this product is different. It has this waxy/tackiness that keeps it in place and is waterproof. Definitely recommend if you constantly tear your skin if/when hitting the bass strings. Maybe I feel a little wussy for needing it, but who cares if it makes it get me through a set without raw skin hitting the strings. Yay!

Just what I needed.
I see people complaining about this tape, they are not using it correctly, I've been using it for months now, at gigs, at rehearsals, in the studio, it sticks to itself not the stick, if you take a few seconds to wrap it tightly around the drumstick where needed it'll never move, I tend to use it on the sticks and also use fingerless drum gloves so when the sweat starts the sticks stay put with a nice loose grip, since using this combination I haven't dropped a stick. I highly recommend this tape, I have now bought 7 rolls so I'm never left short/caught out on gigs etc, I have wrapped it around my fingers which worked but after a bit of experimentation I find the stick and glove technique the most infallible.

Threw it away (updated review)
I think that, as anybody else, I was under the impression that this stick and finger tape would actually stick to something other than itself. It doesn't take long before you wrap the tape around your finger and then it slowly starts to slide out of place. And I think this is mostly due to the fact there's very little "useful" stickiness. Sure, it sticks to itself, but the grip around the finger isn't very tight to begin with, then it's a matter of time until it slides off its position and starts creating problems instead of solving them. In all honesty - and this was probably a problem of the expectation I had - but I was looking for something akin to a simple sports tape, but in black. And so I decided to give this a shot. Not the case. I'm sure this will be good for something. But not for me to use around my fingers to play drums. EDIT: Update on November 27th I finally gave up. I tried my hardest to have the taped neatly wrapped around my fingers, but it amounted to nothing. All that happened was that the tape slowly curls into itself until it forms these little rings that only adhere to themselves. They do absolutely NOT secure themselves to your fingers first, which means that unless you have a fatter / wetter skin, the tape will just slide right off. Incredibly disappointed. It was a complete waste of money. Ended up throwing the tape away. Keep working on this, Vater. Won’t be a customer of yours for now.

Excellent grippy stuff.
Enough on the roll to do a number of pairs of sticks and really grippy to play with. On the roll this stuff doesn’t appear sticky or tacky, but as soon as you wind it over itself it bonds to itself and forms a grippy but non-sticky covering. Just make sure you put the tab back on the free end of the roll, if you forget then it’s the devils own job to get it apart. Brilliant stick grip stuff.

Now that I have I am glad that I kept looking
I have been looking for this tape for a few years after I found a pair of sticks with it on after a gig. Now that I have I am glad that I kept looking. The feel of this tape is slightly rough, which I prefer to the leather/plastic feel of hockey stick style grip tape. It also comes in a long roll which covers many more sticks than other grip tapes that usually do two pairs per packet and are much more expensive. The tape sticks to itself so there is no sticky residue left on your sticks if you want to remove the tape. The tape has shifted ever so slightly on my sticks as I've used them, but I think that is just because it was the first time that I've applied this kind of tape. If you make sure to wrap it really tightly I don't think that this will be a problem. The first time I used this tape I got blisters on my hands where I usually don't get them. I worked out that this was from holding the sticks tighter than I needed to. I had been compensating for sweating during gigs by gripping my sticks tighter so that I didn't drop them, but the tighter grip means less control. Now I've adjusted to playing with the tape I have the same control in the middle of a sweaty gig as I do in an air-conditioned practice room. Now my grip is so gentle that I haven't even had the usual blisters. I have also used this tape to correct my grip. I have a habit of shifting my grip too far up or down the stick as I play. By only wrapping the part of the stick that I want to be gripping I can keep my hands in the right place which leads to better technique all round.

Waste of money
Tape looks like it's been in storage since the 70s. Dried out and no sti ky side, tape just breaks off into dusty fragments. Very poor quality
