Watch out for split pants

Definitely make sure you check the measurements. Each swim brand is different. It runs really tight and my son was so excited to have them he squeezed his little butt into them and then after a few wears they split. Luckily it was when we got home and not at the pool.

Good neutral jammers

I bought these as a back-up pair of jammers for my son, so they didn't get a lot of wear this summer. But, they are a great neutral option and I didn't notice any difference in my son's comfort or ability in them. He needed this style for lessons and team pictures with a swim team, but doesn't compete at the meets yet. I like the fact that these jammers don't have a drawstring.

Regarding sizing...

My son is 8 but VERY lean - 45 lbs and a waist measuring 20". I ordered the 24 and it just fits snugly, we are keeping it. I could probably have gone up to a 26 and had it last longer. I agree with the review below that the speedos size smaller as I ordered one of those in same size and it was too small for him and will be returned.

Sizes finally figured out

We ordered a 22 for my 6year old son. He is a skinny little thing - a 4T bathing suit is about what he wears, and I have to tighten the string on that. My 4yr old also could fit in this (but he doesn't need it). My 4yr old is a normal sized kid, wearing 4T or 5T comfortably. Most of the kids at the pool are wearing these and the coach recommended that we get "Jammers", which was new to me. These are very thin, I think they are "practice" grade. He has worn them 4 times so far, they rinse out well, I'll see if they hold up.

Decent practice shorts.

Inexpensive (cheaper than the team competition suits by the same brand - the logo on these is screen printed on instead of embroidered), but obviously a thinner fabric. My son uses this for his twice weekly team practices and after only 3 months (about 24 uses) it has faded to an unrecognizable color from the original blue. In the photo you can see where the inside of the waistband is still the original color. They still fit nicely, but I have a feeling the fabric will just give out someday soon. However, for a practice suit at this price I will probably buy it again.

Read reviews when choosing a size

The suit is perfect for my 6-year-old swimmer. It has a drawstring to adjust the waist, but you probably won't need it. Size 22 fits my very slim size 6, 41-pound son. 5T pants fit his waist better than size 6, but I buy him 6 for the longer inseam. If in doubt, choose a size or two up because you can always adjust the waist.

fit perfectly and great quality

I went directly to TYR website for sizing: [...] My son joined a swim team this year and I had absolutely no idea what to buy for practice swim shorts. He is 67 lbs and 4'3" and ordered the size 24 in blue and black. It was the perfect fit and we've gone through one week of practice so far and no complaints in terms of comfort or quality. his team purchases arena brand swim uniforms which he was fitted for a size 26. Their sizing chart is: [...]. It's is cm so you just have to do the math.

Nice fit but thin material

Good product, size 22 fits my slender 6 yr old well. He says it helps him swim better than the board shorts. Material seems a bit thin though, I just put it in the wash for the first time and will have to see how it holds up to repeated use.
