works well for a single throw
Had this 2 years with no mechanical problems. Throws a single clay very well.

Great product - Just be careful if you are launching and shooting at same time
This is my graduation from a hand thrower. Easy assembly. I recommend that if you go trap shooting with it, that you have another person operate the launcher for you when you shoot. The tension on the spring is applied to the arm as you are stepping on the pedal, not when you pull the arm into triggering position. Consequently, it takes a bit of force to step on the pedal before launching. If you are handling your shotgun, you could easily lose your balance as you are stepping on the pedal and which may result in an accidental/premature discharge. The adjustable settings are good. It can pretty fast, high, low, sort of what you expect and consistent (way more consistent than your buddy’s arm with a thrower) as long as the wing nut on the tensioner stays put. I think I’ll add a lock washer and see if it stays in place a lot longer through the 5 rounds of shotgun.

Great product
What I liked.I shoot mostly by myself so this product fits that need very well. Easy to load and easy to operate by yourself. Height and speed adjustable with singles or doubles. I looked at several different products and chose this. A great decision. I will buy again for a Christmas gift. Great price to boot.

Like it!
Decided this year to start shooting clays we have a local public range and my wife and I thought it would be something fun to do together. Bought a Remington 870 and a hand thrower and headed on down to give it a try first gun I ever owned and had never really shot because I'm a fisherman at heart. First time out of 75 rounds I only hit 2 targets wife and I really had problems throwing the targets with the hand thrower! Chalked it up to inexperience headed down the next weekend same thing only hit 2 targets out of 75 rounds now getting discouraged and thinking maybe this isn't for me and I wasted my money buying the gun! Fortunately that day at the station next to us were 2 guys using the Trius step thrower and they got talking to use about it. Long story short they showed us how to use it so we decided to buy one. It was easy to assemble and off to the range we went. That day shot 100 rounds and hit over 50 percent of the targets so now doing a lot better this is fun! Once you learn how to use it it throws clays really consistent and makes your shooting experience much more fun. There is a trick to stepping on the release pedal stand over the thrower and use constant pressure don't jab at it. Also it does jump around if not mounted to a tire but we don't have it mounted so we just deal with it. Does not break clays throwing unless you have the clay not flush against the throwing bar. Only reason I gave it four stars for accuracy is that I've had issues throwing doubles. It says you can throw side by side or stacked doubles but the side by side can only be thrown at the lower 2 of the height settings and one of the clays always seems to break. Stacked doubles you will not have the breakage problem so I stay with the stacked clays. Now with lots of clays thrown with it I'm shooting in the 80% range of breaking clays and couldn't be happier! Great product and we plan on buying another for my daughter for Christmas. Enjoy!

A great trap for the money
This product is well made, and it works far better than the $32 Winchester trap I bought at Walmart, which was unbelievably flimsy and was returned to the store immediately. As others have said, the assembly instructions are terrible, and one would think that the company would read these reviews and fix that problem. But it was not hard to assemble, thanks to the photo on the box and comments on this website. Even on the lightest tension setting, this will throw clays almost 50 yards. The "step" lever that you stand on with one foot does wobble a couple of inches from side to side when it is in the highest position, so you have to step down firmly and without hesitation. If you try to step down slowly, your foot will wobble all over the place. But that is a minor point. This is fantastic for a single person wanting some shooting entertainment, and it works far better than jerking on a rope to trigger other types of traps I have seen. I don't think you can get much better shotgun entertainment for this price. I have not tried shooting doubles yet, but this trap theoretically can throw two clays side by side according to the owner's manual if you crank up the tension on the launch spring and lower the angle of the arm so that the back clay does not slide off the arm. (There is a clay holding lever, but it is only big enough to hold one clay.) You also can stack one clay on top of the other, although I tried that once quickly just for fun and it resulted in two wobbly clays that did not spin very well or go very far. Depending on where you place the clay on the launch arm, you can get launches in sometimes unexpectedly different directions. But with some practice and making sure I always placed the clay exactly in the same spot on the arm, I have been able to throw clays pretty much in the direction I want them to go, and if I miss the clay with my shot and it lands on grass, the clays seldom break and are reusable. All in all, this is highly recommended. The only thing better than this would be a self-loading electronic trap that can launch a large stack of clays at set intervals, but you are talking big money for something like that.

Great product
Just to shoot on your own or with friends and family this is a great thrower, simply cause it’s easy to bring with you, you can easily use it on your own, low cost, well made. The different adjustments allow you to shoot high med or low and does a good job. Throws clays 40-50 yards no wind straight field, great little thrower to have fun and teach the basics of lead to new shooter.

It's very good.
It's made in USA where they're pretty keen shooters. I found it robustly made, it's a simple, clever and inherently safe design, and it works rather easily. Cocking it is a one finger operation. Load a clay and then there's no tension until you press the foot pedal. The pedal both tensions the main spring and then releases the throwing arm near the bottom of the pedal range. If you lift your foot off before the clay is released it goes back to unstressed and safe again.

In a league of their own
I purchase items for the Hants West Wildlife Association and this particular Trap Machine was on our radar list. I have never had such an easier machine to load, and then all you have to do is step on the pedal. it is possible for one person to use this machine. The HWWA throws anywhere from 200 to 300 clays at our range days and so far this has more than held up. Well constructed and easy to use as a side note we no longer use any of our other basic hand mechanical throwers. The cost may look at first high but the satisfaction and reliability more than off set that. Singles and doubles and changing angles is not hard, we use this machine in tandem with our electric remote thrower giving us the best basic range set up. You will be very pleased with this trap machine.

Great thrower!
Really nice and sturdy thrower. Pretty consistent with where it throws. The rubber on the two front legs was worn after two test fires wile putting it together, but they don't matter at all really. Great bit of kit, just a shame about the price plus import tax.

Durable materials, versatile use
The entire unit is made out of metal which will last a lifetime. The firing mechanism is simple enough that if there was ever a need to replace a part (e.g. spring loosening over time with use), I could source something from a local hardware store and fix it myself. However, I feel like this is unlikely anyway since it all looks of great quality. I've used it several times since it arrived, works awesome with 1, 2 or 3 clays. I love how you can set it up at different firing heights/angles to vary how they fly giving you an extra challenge. I'll definitely be using this lots before next duck hunting season!
