OK light-duty camping/travel folding toilet. But not for heavy & tall people or daily use.
This Stansport folding toilet is a light-duty folding toilet suitable for a camping trip or travel for people under about six feet tall. As other reviewers have mentioned, it is probably not adequate for a heavy/tall person, but under 200 pounds and under six feet tall is OK if you are careful - don't just plop down on it or it could tip over or even break. There are some similar-looking camping toilets that are larger and sturdier with cross-bracing on the tubing, but of course those are also heavier. If you are going to use a camping/travel toilet on a daily or weekly basis rather than an occasional camping trip, I'd suggest paying more and getting a heavier and sturdier model. The big weakness is that you have to gently snap the plastic toilet seat onto the metal frame every time to assemble it, which could eventually stress and crack the plastic (other reviewers have mentioned this). On some other models, the seat is permanently attached to the frame on one side, which would be much more durable. The seat opening is also about an inch smaller in diameter than on a standard round toilet seat, but is OK if you are not a large or heavy person. When the frame is unfolded, and you snap the seat onto the the metal frame at the front and back (a little clumsly to do) the seat sits about 17" above the ground, which is about the same as a standard-size home toilet. But it is obviously less secure than a home toilet with your weight on the tubular frame, so if you lean far to one side or it will tip over. There is a plastic ring that fits inside the seat opening to secure the bag (a few bags included), but it is just a press fit (doesn't snap in), so it only helps a bit to secure the bag, which also needs to be wrapped around the seat. By the way you can also buy small "compostable" plastic bags (~10-13 gallon) at some grocery stores which are supposed to be biodegradle, if you absolutely had to completely bury the waste. Other reviewers have commented on disposal and what to use to reduce odor and absorb waste such as kitty litter (info about what to use online searching on using camping toilets & outhouses). Tips: As mentioned, be careful and gentle snapping the seat into the frame tubes or it could crack, which some reviewers have mentioned (rember it's just a light-duty toilet). For transport, you may just want to keep the original flat box and secure it closed with a large tied rubber band cut from an old bike inner tube. Otherwise you've got three loose pieces (frame, seat, ring) that you have to tie together somehow or maybe keep in a bag. If the frame bounces around against the plastic seat while driving, it could damage it or the ring. In any case I used some paracord to secure the pieces together, but you can improvise with a Velcro strap, long twist ties, etc. I'd also recommend using some "Shoo Goo" or similar glue to glue the rubber feet onto the steel tubes, otherwise they could easily come off in camp and get lost (if so you can buy replacements at most hardware stores).

Use the seat but not the foldable stand
It will is easy to use for camping. I did not like the foldable stand. It seemed to week to hold my weight and it was extremely low to the ground. I use a home depot bucket to sit the detachable seat on. It worked extremely well.

Works great and long lasting
I've used this daily for 3 years since I live in my van.

Collapses at the most inopportune times
I have never used a portable toilet before and I didn't want to invest a lot before I discovered what I want in a commode. I have a camper van and I don't have to run out in the middle of the night to pee. I've been using this with trash compactor bags, which I highly recommend. They are thick and won't leak and reach all the way to the ground without any chance of falling. I was satisfied with the glorified pee in a bag setup more than I thought I would be until this one time I had to pull over for an emergency stop that was most certainly not just pee. I'm not particularly heavy, 175 lbs., but when I sat on it with my full weight it collapsed. Luckily there wasn't any mess due to the oversized bag I was using, but I still don't trust it to actually sit on. You can just lightly hover over it or balance on it. It has collapsed a couple more times since then even when I wasn't putting my full weight on it. I really like the folding seat design. It's lightweight and easy to store, but I will be replacing it with a sturdier version for my next trip. The plastic of the seat is too soft and it will slip off the metal frame at the worst moment.

Works as it should
We used this last week during pandemic to avoid using public restrooms at camp ground. It worked just fine but a few things should be noted. The stand was steady if you are a person who is steady on their feet and the ground is level. Do not expect it to hold for someone over 200 lbs or is older and needs support. The same problem could happen for the very young if they can't reach the ground when using. We brought along a small plastic tub ( rectangle) that fit between legs to support the bag in case of leaking or falling off when using just to avoid anything getting in the tent. Once the bag was sealed ( tied) we left it in the plastic tub and put on the next one. This also helped us for when we had to carry the bags to dispose of them in a dump station or for us at home in the toilet after we returned. They didn't smell after sealing but we only were out two days so they might if left longer . It worked just as we wanted and kept us out of public restrooms or the outside in the middle of the night. I'd recommend.

great for emergencies and on the road
Lifesaver! With 5 kids we have to plan for the unexpected. We keep this in the back of the SUV for emergencies. Have only had to use it 3 times but kids were fairly comfortable using it since it felt more like a real toilet. I tried the portable potties for toddlers but they were not used to the feel and would not go! I do use this with bio bags and diapers we've outgrown to catch the liquids. We also have the bio powder but haven't tried that yet. We also purchased a shower pop up tent in case we need more privacy. It's a tad smaller than the "round" shaped toilet seats you would buy for the real thing. That's not a bad thing as we were able to set up inside the main cabin of the SUV between third and 2nd row seats when 2nd row seat was folded out of the way. It's very lightweight and goes without saying if your kids can't balance themselves you will have to make sure it won't tip while they're on it. Worked for my 2 year olds as well as 8 year olds. I don't remember the weight limit but make sure you check as it doesn't look like it would hold more than 200 lbs. Set up does take a few seconds to get the seat clipped on and the bag secured so don't wait until the very last minute! The seat comes with a bag "holder" to keep the bag from slipping. With 7 people it's great to have an extra toilet for camping, and even hotel rooms!

Too small and low, can't return. Buyer be aware, the ring fell off just after first use!
There's no instruction and the seat is hard. It's very cheap made and not worth 50 bucks. You can not return even you didn't open it. Read the reviews before you purchase. Unfortunately, I'm the one who didn't read the review througly. Lesson learned. update after camping: I must say this one only worth 5 bucks. The ring never stayed in place no matter how you adjust it. Maybe I got a defective one. After first use, the ring slip off into the bag because of the weight. Now, it just act as a thing holding light garbage in the tent. Very disappointed and upset! Design problem. Don't buy it.

Not what it looks like - don't waste your money
This toilet seat is very small and insecure. I am not a big guy and I found it very small and difficult to sit on it on my living room floor. Never used it as I can't imagine sitting on it out in the tress with uneven ground. I am also an average weight guy, but the rim was bending even as I tried to sit on it in my living room. Please note this item is not returnable (even if unsued) so there goes my $$ down the toilet. This item might work for a child. Don't waste your money.

not what i expected
unexpectedly small size of the seat. seems like its more for kids than adults. from the pictures it is not easy to make out the size unless you receive it and then compare the size. will share some more feedback and updates once i get to actually use it for my upcoming camping trip.

My life saver!
My life saver. My husband just parks our car in a secluded area, open the front and rear passenger side door and place the portable between the two doors and voila! I don’t have to fear about not having a public toilet ever especially during pandemic time.

Good metal frame, but the plastic seat may not support heavyweights?
The plastic seat looks a little weak and may not hold heavyweights folllowing my intuition. I am 185 pounds for 5'9" tall, so there is no problems for me now, but I would start to worry for people over 230 pounds. I wonder if it was ever field tested for people that are more big and heavy.
