GREAT URINAL

As of right now we only use this for number 1 because as a gender neutral urinal it's 5 Stars. It's actually 5 Stars in everything that it advertised and sets out to do. Unfortunately for me and my wife who are homestead composters. It's not ideal for composting and that's ok because that's not what this toilet is. If it was a little bigger and had a bigger waste insert bin inside this would be a ideal portable and affordable composting toilet. It's super comfortable to sit on. We use sawdust because we compost. Sawdust is super absorbent. Because we do this long term we don't use bags because that's not sustainable for a long-term solution. So when we go to clean it we have to take the insert out and it just wasn't made with regularly taking it out in mind. This toilet was made more for short-term camping in accommodating utilization of bags. I ultimately have to give this product 5 stars because it is everything it sets out to be and we definitely use it as a urinal from time to time but. But we use our dust composting toilets for everything else.

This is perfect for outdoor use. As long as you use the bags and absorbent it's easy clean up, no mess!

Three steps up from sitting on a bucket...

I really like this porta potty because it's like three steps up from sitting on a bucket and a lot more comfortable. You can line it with plastic bags and dispose of them as you use them and no need for chemicals or dumping. It can support a lot of weight and has storage inside for your bags and other stuff. It is compact enough to sit inside my minivan and when the lid is closed you don't smell anything. It's not airtight but it's pretty close and works rather well. The seat size might be too small for really big people but it works for me.

Perfect for “one and done” use

I notice many feel that the bucket is to small, but this is perfect if you intend to dump the contents regularly. (This is my preference as I don’t really want to carry around waste for an extended period.) Nice sturdy unit that works well in my camper van.

Can be composting so yay! Environmental plus!

This little portable toilet can be turned into a composting toilet IF you use the corn based compostable 2.5 gal or larger trash liners. I use the kroger/fred meyer brand of compostable bags because they are cheaper. Because it has no urine diverter you will need a 1 cup base of cedar or pine hamster bedding OR straw OR other carbon material in the bottom of your bag. Yes. Envelopes and shredded non glossy newpaper will work if shredded. This will begin the composting process. The bowl is suitable for 2 people for 2 days, if you sprinkle pine or cedar or other litter over your "deposit" after each deposit is made. This will control odor. Then take the compostable bag full of your human waste outdoors and place in your compost bin for a year. The bag will decompose along with the waste. I like this because the bag holding area has 4 pegs so it can be held secure and does not slip into the bowl. I also like the non rocking no tipping over security of the toilet. The toilet seat is "normal" for comfort. There is a small door to hold extra bags but i don't use it. Easy to clean. I recommend getting a small lidded garbage can with a 1 cup scoop and keeping it near by. It can hold hamster bedding or saw dust or whatever carbon you use to cover your deposits with. This uses normal toilet paper. We have used homemade composting indoor outhouses for 5 years. This is the first ready made camping toilet we have purchased and converted. Pros: comfort and not tippy and sturdy as heck and easy conversion to compostable biodegradable with the proper compostable garbage liners. Cons: needs to be emptied every couple of days. I like it much better than the 5 gal bucket sytem because you dont twist your back emptying it into the compost bin and the 2.5 gal compostable bags are way cheaper. A win-win purchase.

We take it To Go!

Purchased for a pop up camper with a cabinet perfect for the size. And, purchased for Wifey who, when vertical after a nights sleep can't make it to the outhouse at the campsites / state parks we visit. We do not do off-road / primitive camping where by we can 'leave no trace.' It's just for that first call of nature in the morning, and for urine only. Originally, we were going to empty it every day - that didn't happen. The most was about 2 days or so, and that little fella holds a lot of water! We ordered bags from Amazon for it, they are white and come 6 to a package - we ordered 2 packages. They are strong and can hold a gallon of water. (Did I know my kidneys worked THAT good! Nope!!) Fortunately, I don't have heart problems or a small bladder and can hold my water so a once a morning use is all it gets from me. That said, at first, I didn't have any kitty litter and used cedar shavings that I have for mosquito repellent - as I was thinking absorbency and odor control. The cedar shavings, about 2 1/2 cups weren't absorbent enough. We then tried the blue kitty litter pellets - don't bother, that doesn't work. Now, it's pre loaded with regular kitty litter with a dusting of cedar shavings. I think that will be fine. I'm a bit over 60, can still do a squat thank Goodness!, my big ole butt sits just fine on the seat, and I have time to pull out the little potty do my do, and put it back each morning. We've experienced no odor, or no leaks, it works very well, and cleans up good too. Ohhh in case of travelers diarrhea - I'd just make sure I'm sitting right and let nature take it's course. It's that sturdy. I'm glad we bought it, as it has opened up camping to us, due to truck size and camper cost, that was unavailable to us before. UPDATE: October 2017 Out camping, away from the restrooms, I needed this little puppy for more than I expected! Held up well, comfy too. We use cedar shavings, the finer ones, and worked well. We don't use kitty litter anymore. All held up in an unexpected emergent situation! This is a good unit. I was glad I had it.

Perfect 2nd Bathroom!

We recently moved to 2 storey house w only 1 bathroom on the main floor. Being seniors, we were concerned about walking down stairs in the middle of the night to urinate. After checking out several ‘potties’ we choose this one. What a GREAT unit. We’ve had it almost 3 months now and are SO glad we bought it. We have a large upstairs closet and it easily fits there. I placed a small waste bin w both packaged hand wipes and anti-bacterial soap (preferences). We use it only for urine. HINT: I found some wonderful bags from Cdn Tire that are mint scented (made to ward off raccoons), that fit perfectly - and there is absolutely NO odour whatsoever by morning. FRANK Mint-X Organic bags. Also purchased package of various length wide elastics from Home Hardware made specifically for waste bins to secure the bags around the edge. CAUTION: The inside receptacle that holds the urine is VERY tipsy b/c the bottom is narrow. When removing the inside bag, I twist the bag to seal it a bit, remove the elastic from around the edge, THEN lift it out of the receptacle w the bag still resting inside the main unit and take it downstairs to empty. We each go at least twice during the night and the unit holds it w no problem. Highly recommend this unit.

Poop in the comfort of your own campsite.

No one loves talking about poop, lol, but we all gotta go. I find this a great addition to our campsite and also great to have ready in the trailer when on a long travel day. I have Crohn's Disease so this is my life, but this toilet has eased my stress of travel so much. I love that we don't have to deal with any black water in our trailer and also don't have to worry about winterizing either. I would 100% recommend this toilet. One slight irritant is that one of the handles broke before I even used the toilet, but I can't be bothered to return it as I need it for travel, otherwise very well made and sturdy.

Camping/Cabin MUST!!

Was looking for a small toilet for our bunkhouse at the camp and this has been perfect!! It is tall enough to get on and off easily but small enough to tuck away under a chair or small storage space! Has a smaller section on the bottom to make it higher/lower! Came with a waste bag to insert and use with solidifying gel at the bottom, but I prefer using the removable ‘bowl’ insert with some water and a little lysol! Don’t waste money on bags! So easy to remove the bowl insert and pour out and put back in! Comfortable, stable/no tipping feeling, easy to use and will last for years with no need to buy any bags/accessories!! Super impressed and definitely recommend if you love camping, have a camp/bunkhouse without a toilet and want the convenience and comfort of feeling like you’re using a real toilet :)

Poignée et porte arrière non fonctionnelle A noter que c’était la première fois que nous emportions cette toilette avec nous sans l’avoir utilisé. Pour les poignées, même étant vide, une poignée de côté a lâché. On dirait qu’elle a été forcée à l’assemblage, imaginez le dégât si elle aurait été pleine. Pour la porte arrière, elle tombe toujours. Il y a un manque au niveau du moulage et un des deux gons, n’est pas assez long pour maintenir cette porte en place. Je ne recommande pas cette toilette, je suis très déçu.

It's Sturdy but Small

This toilet is sturdy and well made - BUT, the seat is very small and would work best for children. The seat is only 14 1/4 " high, which is tricky for a lot of people , and the seat is so small that , well, using it hygienically as an adult is about impossible.
