Very accurate

This was a gift to my daughter. She loves it. She showed me pictures of steaks that were perfectly cooked using the thermometer.

We have had it a little over six months and have used it perhaps once or twice a week successfully. It now shows the three L's. The instructions say that the temperature is out of range when you see that. In my case it shows the L's when I open it and shows the temperature when I close it making it unusable. I wrote to Taylor and got no response...so much for customer service. I am sending it to Taylor under the one year warranty and will update this when I get a result, good or bad. As promised here is the update: First: I changed my rating to a five star because of the wonderful return experience I had with Taylor. Sometimes things just break, the sign of a great company is how they deal with it. Taylor immediately shipped me out a new thermometer and the turn around time was great...Hooray for them. They have a customer with me. You can depend on them to stand behind their products.

This is one of the best Thermometers for any cooking or baking you need to do. Child Friendly

One of the better choices out there. It has settings for meats if you do not know what temperature to cook something to. The easy led lights and settings make it possible for a child to cook meat safely. The temperature range is high enough that you can use it for baking and even some candy making. The battery is replaceable but you will need a very small screwdriver to get the plugs and screws out. This is very accurate and last for years.

Can't go wrong with this one

I love the preset temps for various meats. When you are out checking the meat on the BBQ it has back lighting on the display if you need to see a specific temp in the dusk. But if you set the type of meat and level of done you prefer then leds will light up sequentially to show if it is ready to pull off the grill. No guessing or trying to read the temp needed. I have had many friends over for dinner who asked where I had purchased it. So, I gave them out as gifts.

Too Fancy Even for this Generation Y'er

As a young man, I was trying to perfect my grilling ways and this thermometer seemed like it has it all, and it does. The thermometer's temp settings help out a lot to be able to get the perfect level of doneness for everything from steaks to chicken. However, the thermometer's accuracy is not always perfect and takes a few seconds to get to the right temp. In whole, if you are looking for a thermometer that can even teach a novice the difference between rare and medium, then buy.

Great thermometer. Slightly larger than I'd like but fits well in the hand and allows you to keep you hand further from the heat when checking meat on the grill. The backlight function is a must have when smoking on a large smoker as you don't want to move a 20+ lb brisket but a non-backlit thermometer is impossible to read in the smoke. Really glad I found this one so I don't need to carry a flashlight as well when checking temps on my delicious smoked creations.

Taylor Digital Folding Probe Thermometer

Have been planning to buy one of these for some time...love it! It is so easy to use and gives accurate readings. No more struggling with a candy thermometer to measure how hot my water is for making bread. The candy thermometer is glass, so I have to be so careful from start to finish. This product makes measuring temperatures so much easier. And it is faster to record the temperature. Arrived promptly in excellent condition. Would recommend highly.

Battery cover nearly impossible to remove

OMG, what drama on Thanksgiving when I got these new thermometer for making the turkey. It requires a very, very, very specialized screwdriver to reach deep in tiny holes to unscrew the cover. I was able to get one screw out with a very tiny screw driver, but there was a design flaw in the way the other screw hole is obscured by the plastic in the back. I ended up brute force ripping it out. After putting in the battery (actually removing the plastic tape on the battery and reinserting), I just screwed in the one easier-to-remove screw and left the other one out. I don't ever want to have to do that again!

I've had this thermometer for almost two years. Metal probe detached from attachment point to the thermometer body. Not reparable. When it was working it seemed slow to measure temperature. Maybe two years is the life expectancy for this type of product.
