Greenworks PRO 16-Inch 80V Cordless String Trimmer is powerful but heavy
I like this string trimmer. With the 80V battery, the trimmer has very good power and can go through thick grass and weeds. The only issue I have is its weight. After about 30 minutes, your arms will definitely hurt from holding the trimmer. I purchased a separate shoulder harness to see if it'll help with off loading some of the weight of the tool. Greenworks should have included a harness as part of the product.

Decent.
I received the trimmer yesterday and put it to use. It is lightweight enough for me (68 yr old female) to work with. I managed to go through all the trimmer wire yesterday. It was very confusing to find the trimmer replacement spool online. I called customer service and found out the part number is 2901619; for those of you who do not want to rewire the spool with wire yourselves, Do not pay attention to the part number in the book, it's wrong. amazon does sell 2901619 even though Greenworks customer service tells you they don't and you have to buy it from them. The other issue is the metal bumper, it's useless imho, it bumped off the groove it sits in and wrapped around the motor. I took it off.

Inadequate Shield Deflector
My husband likes the string trimmer a lot, with one notable exception. The debris deflector only measures about 7 inches wide and allows stones, etc. to fly backwards. It needs to be bigger.

Very powerful but difficult to operate efficiently and smoothly....learning curve isn't simple or easy, but I'm getting there.
I have the snow blower, so decided to get the string trimmer following the breakdown of my 2-stroke gas powered trimmer. It's plently powerful, and at first I didn't realize that it was variable speed, since the trigger is not very responsive.....it seems either off or full power on, but when I tried to modulate the speed to less than all-out full speed, the results improved dramatically. On full speed, it's so powerfu that it eats up the line very rapidly, for example I burned through 25 ft of .090 line before I was finished trimming my property after mowing. I have about 400 lineal feet of trimming required, so I was somewhat frustrated by using up so much line. But now that I realize the power output level can be controlled variably the line lasts much longer. The trigger is simply not easy to modulate though, and it's not easy to control the variable speed output which makes the experience less than optimal. I replaced the original line with the heavier .090 with a twist design, and it works well. Bumping for more string seems to cut into the lawn badly though, scalding areas where I bump to extract more line. Also, I've had to stop and restring a few times when the line breaks and fails to come out of the line hub, which is frustrating. So, for me, it's a mixed bag. Lots of power for sure, but difficult to modulate the power with the variable speed trigger, and awkward to restring the line hub as well, and the bumping to extract more line doesn't work smoothly and requires a big bump thus cutting into grass areas really heavily. I'm working through these kinks, but find it a difficult product to use efficiently. This is my first electric trimmer, but my fourth trimmer overall so I have some experience using these trimmers.

No futszing with gas related problems.
Used only 2 times of about 30 minutes each time. Works as good as any gas of similar capability. Way to soon to comment on longevity, durability, etc. With battery weight is similar to gas model. This is to replace a husqvarna 128LD from Northern tool which never ran right from day one. Had that one into service multiple times and it won't hold carb settings. If this greenworks last longer then just 2 years it'll be way better. I would NOT use anything but a whip cord on this, as the electric motor is in the head and doubt it could withstand use of blades or other alternatives then whip cord and last.

Works as good as a gas trimmer without the hassle
Got tired of trying to coax my gas string trimmer to life so got the Green Works battery trimmer. This is my fourth Green Works tool and I love the fact that the battery is interchangeable for all tools. The trimmer works best with the 2 amp (smaller) battery but will work with the 4 amp battery in a pinch (heavy). Trims just as well as a gas trimmer but no issues with noise (it's very quiet), gas and starting. I haven't had to change out the string line yet so can't comment on that, hopefully it is as straight forward as all my previous string trimmers. Would highly recommend. All my Green Works tools have been well made and durable.
