very reliable for almost 5 years now
I purchase this pump in July of 2018 this pump runs every 2 min for ~30 sec when it rains. So far very reliable and not troubles for nearly 5 years

Solid pump for the money
Replaced a sump after 20 years. This was easy to install and worked right out of the gate. The plugs do piggy back but can be plugged in separately if you don’t have the horizontal room. So far it worked great. I like that the flow setting leave 4-5” of water in the pit as I would not want to suck up muck. Perfect in a sump setting. The 1/3 horse power for my area is no issue.

Works great, but wish I could make it activate sooner/lower
This is a fine basic sump pump. I read a prior review where someone used a straw to adjust the mechanism to make it activate with a lower water level. You can just add a straw, cut to an appropriate length, to make the float activate the pump as soon as the float is pushed up at all by the water. But even then, the float isn't pushed up until there is about 1.5-2" of water. I'd like it to activate sooner. BUT this actually saved my rear already. My basement flooded, and the 2" of water was enough to turn off both my HVAC unit and my water heater in the basement (alerting me that there was problem), but this pump kept the water low enough to not damage my HVAC unit and water heater, which I had just replaced for $4400 and $1000, respectively. So it was a good call to have this down there as a backup to my main sump pump (which had somehow come unplugged!)

Small but Fierce
The media could not be loaded. We flooded back in January and had to borrow an older tired pump from a friend. It took hours to get it set up right and required nearly constant monitoring for multiple days to keep it from burning out. I didn't go out and buy the cheapest pump as soon as I could, I did some research and comparisons. I was a little trigger shy to get this one because for what it promises it should cost more. I'm extremely satisfied that I bought it anyway. We got slammed with another set of storms 4 days ago. I got the pump set up just as it started raining and it started running within hours. If I had to guess we've pumped over 100k gallons off the property so far and the only issues we've had aren't from the pump, it's a Champ!

Good pump, messy to install
I got the 1/3 hp with vertical float. Replacing the old one with this went fairly easy, until it came time to line up the pipe from the pump with the check valve. The pipe that screws into my pump comes straight up, then has a 90 bend to a horizontal run that includes the check valve, then another 90 to go up to the outside. The L from the pump didn't line up with the check valve. Apparently the place the vertical pipe screws into the pump is an inch and a quarter higher off the bottom of the sump than the old one was... Rather than build a new L, which would have required a run to the store, I cut an inch and a quarter out of the vertical and joined the two pieces with a union (which I happened to have in my plumbing parts box). Once I connected the L and the sump cover (which is a heavy piece of plastic or rubber about 18" in diameter), the assembly became top heavy, and fell over on the floor a couple times as I was working on things. Fortunately it doesn't appear to have been damaged. There are two heavy electrical cords coming out of the pump; one plugs into the other at the wall outlet, which the instructions allude to. This means that the plug sticks out about three times as far from the wall as the old single plug did. I had to push some boxes we had stored there away to make room. When I plugged it in, it drained the sump quickly...but wouldn't turn off. The instructions make that sound like you've hooked up the plugs wrong, but in my case it was because the float didn't turn it off soon enough--the pump was sucking air. The printed instructions say the turn-off setting is adjustable, but don't say how, and it's not obvious. The Q-and-A here has a note from the mfg about how to do it, but if you don't find that: There's a rubber grommet-like thing at the bottom of the plastic rod that the float slides up and down on. To make it shut off sooner, slide that grommet a little ways up the rod; you'll probably have to experiment with how far "a little ways" is. There are a couple bumps on the rod, maybe you're supposed to slide it above the next bump to ensure it doesn't move when it shouldn't. It doesn't slide easily (I suppose to keep it from slipping), so you'll have to use some force, and be careful not to break the rod--hold it close to the grommet as you push. I just installed it today, so I can't speak to how long it will last.

Very quiet operation!
Used for a sump in our basement. Vertical on/off switch is more reliable and takes less space.

good product, but poor sales service
I plan to use this as a secondary sump pump as backup in case my old one fails, this one will automatically kick in if my old one one day fails that I do not know. Before I ordered, I estimated the diameter of motor side is somewhere between 5 and 6 inch based on the product photos and video, I took the 1-1/2" discharge opening to measure the scale of motor side diameter. I posted a question of asking the diameter of base at motor side, a user old me it is about 5", but the seller gave me very interesting answer, the representative told me it is 7.75", I guess she did not read my question carefully, she just gave me the total length of product from motor side to the discharge (tip to tip). I then called Superior directly to clarify a few things, 1) the diameter of base at motor side 2) can the arm(holding the floating switch assembly) be repositioned to the back of motor side in the same way as the video ? the Sales did not answer me the 1st question, he answered me the 2nd one, but did not give me a clear reply like yes or no, he just stressed that the pump needs 12" diameter clearance for installation. He said this pump would not fit into my sump pit. I was so shocked with his answer. My experience told me that Superior front line people is not so knowledgeable to their product or they do not have detailed product info to refer to. They can simply get answer when they have a look at the pump. In my situation I would rather trust a user's reply than the Superior people. Their instruction manual is missing some important features and info, what I understand the flexibility of repositioning the arm holding floating switch assembly is a very good feature, it is very useful for application in narrow space like my case. See my attached photo. the Superior pump just sits behind my old one. I flip the arm to the back of motor side, it just well fit into the pump pit without any problem. This is a good selling point ! They should highlight this feature in the product description and illustrate in the manual how to reposition the arm. I realize this may be a feature when I repeatedly watch the video showing the arm in different positions throughout the whole video. There is nothing in Superior materials telling about this. Secondly, the product description and the manual should state more details of product size, especially the diameter 5-1/2" of base at motor side, customer can check if it fits into their sump pit especially for those who have same application like mine. Overall speaking, product-wise is good, small foot print & adjustable arm position that allow it to be used in narrow space, easy to install and quiet motor. The reason I take away one star is because of poor sales service and manual.

This pump SUCKS!
Literally. This is a very good pump. I have a sump basin with two pumps in it and, after 10 years I had to replace one of them last year. This was the pump I bought. I was so impressed that when the second pump died this year (after 11 years) I didn't hesitate to buy another one of these. The difference was I paid about $40 more for the one I bought last year at a big box store. This pump is much quieter than the previous ones that I replaced. A good value through Amazon for a very good pump.

This pump is excellent quality.
I am totally impressed by the weight and build of this pump. This pump is rock solid metal. It works perfectly with the float. I am using it to pump excess water from a very old storm drainage system that is clogged and broken beyond repair, until we tear it all up and replace with new. Total piece of mind when it's raining now. I completely recommend this incredible pump! Stephen, Vancouver, BC. (Rain capital of the world).

Excellent quality pump
I do home renovations and bought this and installed this for a customer. Its a nice and quiet high quality pump. It was easy to install and works awesome. It's compact size allowed me to install it in a very small sump along side a battery back up pump. This was a very important factor when I was deciding which pump to buy. I am very pleased with my purchase and I'm sure my customer will be too.

Sturdy and strong pump
I have two sump pumps going in our sump pit. One battery backup one, and a primary one. The primary one went bad and I replaced it with this one. I was surprised that even though it has the same power rating as the one before, that it is able to lower the water level almost twice as quick. So this pump is particularly efficient.
