Good pump,draws down quickly.
My only complaint with the pump is the length of the float rod. Would be nice if it was longer so you could cut it to size for the float adjustment. Modified mine for a longer cycle time on draw down. Other than that works great.

The little beast...
Let's cut to the point, we all needed a sump pump especially during heavy rain fall or if you live where your water table is high like me... plus if your water is high on iron... a regular sump pump will not cut it... as it will eventually be clog up with iron build up if it have small screens to help filter out debris... (Excuse my wording...) SO... On the plus side, it's... 1) Cast Iron -very sturdy...heavy... 2) Very quite... -I couldn't even hear it upstairs in the room right above the pump... 3) Arrived 5 days earlier then the indicated dates... -Which is a plus when I REALLY needed it (Ahem, snow melting...basement flooding...current sump pump always clog up...shssss...) My house is old...so it has sands that gets deposit where the pump is...THIS sump pumps pumps the sands out...no problem...phew...thought it was going to clog... If it 4) Suck up a rock, which stop the fan blade, but once I pulled the rock out, it went right back to working just fine.. (it's been a week, it's still going...) On the negative side, it... 1) the on and off switch broke off when I tried to straighten it..it's plastic..., didn't quite fit with the rest of the pump...disappointing... 2) The legs could have been at lease an extra 1 to 2 inch longer to prevent the pump from sucking in big rocks on the bottom...SO, I had to turn a 5 gallon bucket into a bucket screening to allow water to flow in and prevent it from sucking the rocks from under the pump. I like this pump so far, if only its maker had pay attention to these small detail, it would be one of the best pump out there...

Cat's Meow Pump !
The media could not be loaded. Can't believe I am excited about a sump pump ! This Red Lion is built like a tank ! It is super quiet, and being an underwater submersible certainly helps that aspect. I have included video to show function of tether float. Seems very solid and I noticed that tether switch replacements are available at my local hardware store, although they appear the same I have not confirmed they are compatible. I personally prefer this version versus vertical float because it does not have super short cycles that I expect wear out switches which is a frequent complaint for the Zoeller units. My only issue is that pump is too strong for my very old house. Leaving it on for a dozen + cycles resulted in some overflow on my sewer line. This is actually a feature for most applications.

Well engineered
The pump itself seems to be well made and rugged. Equivalent to the more expensive 1/3hp Zoeller. The great improvement over the Z is the tethered switch, a much more reliable way to turn the pump on and off. I have had multiple basement floods due to failure of the sump pump to turn on, despite monthly testing. The tethered switch is better than the old float + arm + switch inside sealed housing. Unit was easy to install. You just need room for the tether to bob up with the water level, which is not a problem with a standard 19" diameter basement sump.

A workhorse, with one modification needed
I had to return a 1/3 HP version of this Red Lion pump (because of a vertical float switch failure, non-functioning upon arrival) but Amazon amazingly provided a replacement within 3 days of the failure report. On the other hand, the original 1/2 HP Red Lion pump - this one - has become a useful workhorse. The only reason I downgraded this pump to 4 stars is that this one sucks rocks right into the impeller. By that I mean that the short standoff feet on the bottom of this pump still allowed it to suck 1/2-inch rocks (gravel) in and this stopped the impeller and of course halted the pumping of the sump area. The solution was to build and attach a screen to the bottom of this pump that would prevent rock-sucking. And now it works very well in the sump with the gravel bottom. Both versions of the Red Lion pump seem very well made and are working well to deal with the results of near-monsoon conditions.

Garbage failed after 35 days
I have bought now 4 of these pumps. on average they run for a little over a year. The last 2 failed shorter then that. the last one I bought the first one as soon as it turned on it sounded awful failed the next day. Amazon sent me a replacement and that one failed after 35 days. These are sold part of a tandem set. These are made in China figured since they say they offer 3 year warranty they should be good lets see if they back up their claims.

Solidly built, quiet, fits in a tight space
I replaced my 25 year old sump pump with the Red Lion. Installation was uneventful. I just need to drill a weep hold in the outgoing PVC tube. I like that the float is contained right on the pump. Previously, my float would get hung up on the intake pipe, stopping the pump from working. I cleaned out the sump pit by running water from my hot water tank and stirring up the bottom of the pit with a small broom. That stirred up some gunk. But the pump had no problem pushing the gunk through the pump. I used my label maker to post the date the warranty expires so I remember to check that the pump is working just prior to that date.

Replacement for Dayton laundry tray pump
I replaced a failed Dayton (Grainger) 2VJ77 in a laundry tray application. The Dayton unit still worked on the bench but apparently the switch (not replaceable) became too stiff for the float to activate it. This unit has a replaceable switch. The Red Lion outlet casting matches the Dayton so the changeover was straightforward. The Red Lion pump has a cast iron housing while the Dayton is plastic. The only problem was that it was received with the switch bracket bent down. Apparently it was dropped on its head at some point. Poor packaging. But the bracket was easily straightened and the slight warp in the float guide rod doesn't interfere with the operation as long as you are careful to orient the pump so the float is clear of the side of the bucket.

Easy setup works great!
Third time a charm! Tried two plastic pumps, couldn't hear the TV over the pump. This works nice and quiet. Cost more but sometimes you get what you pay for.

Quiet & amazingly durable
I installed this a few months ago and didn't give it a second thought until I was cleaning the tub in the suite downstairs. I realized I hadn't heard the sump kick on so I left the water running and went under the stairs to make sure it was working. Even right beside it, I had to put my hand on the pipe to make sure it was running! I'm very impressed! Just an update- after 18 months it has quit on me. The motor is making noise but the sump is almost full and nothing is pumping. Probably a broken impeller or output shaft? For the price I paid, I assumed it would last years, not months (and this is for our downstairs guest room that hasn't had many guests for all of covid!) . I'm not impressed anymore! Update # 2- i replaced with a new pump that lasted 5 minutes- both died because of #!*% guests flushing stuff that should never be! The Red Lion was clogged for 3 days and still works fine! Impressed again ;)

Good value & quality
Added sump for back stairs - needed vertical switch for location. Have installed pump for 2 weeks now - working well. Quiet - cannot tell when it is running. Hope it lasts.

Good pump - optimistic it lasts
I have real bad drainage issues around my country house. I bought this as a backup pump and an emergency pump. At one point I had this and 3 other pumps running to keep up with the water coming in. This one handled being on straight for almost 24 hours during a bad storm. It was putting it under lots of strain since it had to pump up a floor and out around 150 feet. It handled it pretty good. My Zohler pump is more powerful but this looks like it could be dependable and will install it permanently the next time a pump goes. Btw, this is my 10th sump pump is 12 years so I know a fair amount about what works and doesn’t for me. I stay away from the cheap big box pumps, those last about 6 months for me.
