Perfect Flashlight
I love this thing. The red is perfect for nighttime use. I like it because I can find my way around without disturbing others. Also, it helps me fall back to sleep faster because it’s not too bright. Using a regular flashlight is too much for sleepy eyes.

This has become my new favorite flashlight. On high
This has become my new favorite flashlight. On high, it's very bright, but I almost always use it on its lowest setting. With the articulating head, it's a great reading light. My book light finally died a while back, and I thought I'd give this light a try as my new reading light, and found it to be an improvement over the book light. Low power is bright enough to see anything in a room. The entire room lights up with it on high, although I almost never use it on high. The two medium settings are well calibrated between the low and high settings, making the light adaptable to multiple situations, giving you the light you need without wasting battery life. The battery life seems excellent - still on my first set of batteries after a month of daily use. 1-2 hours on low every night to read, and no sign of any approaching dimness. I also use the red led light quite a bit when using my telescope. I can use it to move around in total darkness, swap out eyepieces, etc without ruining my night vision. I haven't used the blue led much, although it's quite bright. I got the UV version, instead of the green led light, knowing that I'll eventually get a night vision device, and then I'll have an extra illumination source for it, but haven't gotten it yet, so I can't really talk about the UV light. If it's as good as the rest of the lights though, I'm sure I'll enjoy it. Lots of little pluses on this light really make it great - 4 levels of brightness for each light source makes the light very adaptable. And switching between different lights and power levels is very easy and intuitive. Tactile positive polarity markers on the outside of the light that you can feel in the dark make it easy to replace batteries in the dark. The cap to the battery compartment has a sturdy metal lanyard, so you don't lose the cap when you're replacing batteries. There is also a rubber gasket to keep water out of the battery compartment. The pivoting head makes the light very useful in a multitude of situations. This is a great all-around flashlight, and when I have a few bucks to spare, I'm going to get an extra one for my car.

Streamlight Sidewinder Flashlight.
If you are deciding to purchase this flashlight from this provider be aware that you may be sent an incorrect model. I based my purchase upon the model pictured in the product information. The model I chose was the same exact model that I've had for years (Single white light, red, blue, and green smaller lights) with the strobe function. I use this light in my personal life and at work. Never had a problem with the original. The model that I received in similar but has the newer feature of the IR (LED) lens that I do not need in the civilian world and especially at work (I don't use NV equipment in my ambulance). Also...the strobe feature does not work on the newly acquired flashlight. I checked the operational feature against the older light and followed the instructions in the new flashlight's instruction manual and I can state the strobe doesn't operate. It's still a nice flashlight, please don't get me wrong, but the provider either has to be more careful about product description or in choosing the item prior to shipment. If you're reviewing the Amazon website you'll find the various Streamlight models shown separately with connecting links to the other models so be careful when choosing the item that you wish to purchase.

This is the light I use everyday
The flat shape and articulating head is a great design. I can lay it flat or stand it up and point it hands-free where I want. This is nowhere near as bright as my Fenix LD20, but it is the light I carry every day. I find that the brightest setting of the sidewinder is just about the same as the dimmest setting of the LD20. The LD20 is better when I want the brightest light possible, like checking for wild animals in the yard. But the sidewinder is perfect for most things I do with a light, like aiming it hands-free where I am working with tools; reading a book; lighting my way when walking; lighting up a room during a power outage, etc. The advantage of using this light that is "bright enough" instead of "the brightest possible" is that the batteries last about forever. I use light every day, but have only changed the batteries twice in 8 months. Most of the time, is actually handy that it comes on in the dimmest setting. But there are times that I wish I could pre-determine which setting would turn on first, like with the LD20. You have to hold the button about 3 seconds to make cycle to the brightest setting. If coming on bright is more important for you, buy the sportsman version. I have about zero use for the red, blue, and IR LED lights. I might have more use for an extra plain white led instead of IR. The only thing cool about the IR LED is that you can't see it with your eyes, but phone cameras can see it. The phone camera can see that it is on, but not bright enough to illuminate anything. I like the flat shape to keep it in my pocket. And it never rolls away from where I put it.

It’s good for the common soldier
Nothing to crazy but the basic needs. Outer plastic shell which seems hard and the light function is different and I’m wondering how it does during winter

Easy to use
Only about two hours on high; but almost forty hours on lowest setting. Appears rugged; uses readily found AA batteries. Easy to determine which is positive and negative positions for battery placement.

New version even better than the last!
Bought a replacement for my ancient original model and the new one is sooo much better. The light from all the LEDs is brighter and smoother and the moving diffuser lens is a nice touch on my version. Note: this is still not a mega bright light, but it lasts long and does everything I need around the house or campsite. The side winder is still my fave torch!

Sehr krasses Teil

Acceptable. Lacks durability.
I have had this product 23 months. I use it intermittently at work. The alternate light modes are well implemented and the selector switch is quite robust. I only utilize white and red at work, however the blue light works well and the IR light works (tested, but I don't have a need for it) The battery life is reasonable. I've only had to switch out the two AA batteries about three times. In terms of brightness the activation button is held while the flashlight rotates from lowest to highest and back again on a smooth curve. I typically always wanted the brightest setting so this became slightly irksome. At present the hinge feature at the head of the light causes the light to shut off. Likely a damaged connection between the battery section and the control/led section. For a premium flashlight product at this price point and marketed for hard use, I find this disappointing. Overall I would say some people may find this flashlight great for the price. However I expected to get more use out of it before it became degraded in this fashion. Overall I would not recommend the streamlight based on the hinge durability issue.

Nice tactical flashlight.
A very nice small flashlight. Durable. All the instructions are printed on the flashlight. There are 20 settings to choose from. I added the paracord with the snake knots. I own a military angle flashlight from 1963 and it’s fun to compare the two. This flashlight should last a very long time. The adjustable angle is very useful. Update: I have added to “Ranger Bands” (from rubber bike tire inner tubes) to protect and give even a better tactical feel.
