i have a small house with no back yard so i needed somewhere to hang clothes indoors and i have seen this system in hotels so i thought it would work for me. the reason i gave it 4 stars only is due to the fact that its made of plastic and it does not tell you so in the description. i did know this fact simply to other reviews of this product. also it does not have a locking mechanisim so it will sag if heavy clothes is on it but it can easily be solved just by shortening the rope so thats not really a big deal i shortened mine and it sags very little. nothing is perfect but for the price and its use it is perfect it seems to be holding up very well.

It's fine.

I bought this for light use in my laundry CLOSET where I make use of what little space I have. I had tried the HOusehold Essentials one that fell apart before I could even get it up and thought this one looked better. It is fine for light use. It was easy to put up although I had a hard time keeping the metal cover on. It kept falling off. Don't think it is like the ones you see in hotels because it isn't even close but it is fine for light duty and the instructions are great. THey even give you a little template to use to drill the holes.

Good buy

Bought this 2013, it's now 2018. It's not flashy, It's not particularly durable looking, but It does the job well. The cord still winds back into place and I can string up all my sweaters along the cord without it drooping. It has held up remarkably well over the past few years. Still retracts fine, though i have a persnickety knot in it I can't get out near the end, so it stops there. (though it's not the clothesline fault, it's mine!) I would still recommend.

Not as bad as some reviews potray

Packaging is cool, has all you need to fix it to the wall including a measuring piece of paper that u stick on the wall which shows where to drill so as to have a perfect fit for the screws. The rope can get a bit loppy but if you shorten it as the instructions says, its ok. Does what it says it will so, am a satisfied customer

This line is great for the inside of my laundry room closet. It takes up very little space, and you wouldn't even know it was there when it's not in use. my only issue with it is when I hang heavier clothes on it it does not stay all the way taught.

Not what I expected, but acceptable.

Be aware that this is plastic, not metal. It does look remarkably like metal, even in person, and it suits my purposes thus far (light duty in the bathroom, primarily cloth diaper drying), but as the other reviewer said, it's not even close to the quality of the retractable clotheslines in hotels. It's easy to install, though, and for the price, I don't have any serious complaints. The line does sag, as reviews on other similar products say, because the space where I installed it is narrower than the length of the line, but the line can be shortened; I just haven't felt the need to do so yet.

Just what we needed!

My hubby and I had gone on a cruise and they had these clotheslines in the showers. We just had to have one for our sailboat!! It is just what we needed and works perfectly in the head for our clothes to hang to dry. It is nice that it is retractable for when we are using the shower as well. Highly recommended!!!

I would very much like to give this unit a 5 star review for its quality materials and solid construction, but its design and production execution is flawed. First of all, the sticker on it that shows the "unlock" and "lock" direction can fool you into mounting the unit upside down. I remember looking at the wall mounting bracket and saying to myself, "Why do I need to mount this upside down in order to make the sticker direction right side up?" Thinking that the sticker direction should always be correct, I end up mounting the wall mounting bracket upside down. Unfortunately in this upside down position, the unit can dislodge from the wall mounting bracket under heavy loads. However, this wouldn't happen if the wall bracket was mounted right side up with the sticker oriented upside down. This problem could have easily been avoided if they printed the sticker in the other orientation! Secondly, the pull string stopped retracting after a few uses in which I had to disassemble the unit to fix it. As I am an engineer, this was a rather easy fix, but I can see most users would have thrown it away. When re-assembling the unit, I realized the retraction design is poor as the string tangled up with the internal coil spring. Had they made the wheel channel that encases the string deeper, this probably would not have happened either.

Great little clothesline.

Easy, basic clothesline. Yes, the line sags a bit, but it does the job! I have 7 dress pants straight out of the washing machine hanging up here.
