This is the only active adapter you need for a 3 monitor set up with the AMD Eyefinity
If you have all of the other related hardware, this adapter will get you up and running with a 3 screen/monitor system. I have a MSI graphics card with the Radeon AMD 7770 chip. It's getting harder and harder to keep up with all the possible incarnations that can result from one chip being offered on so many different graphics cards. There are several different versions of the MSI Radeon HD7770 card alone. My MSI card has one full size DisplayPort, one HDMI and a DVI-D out. So three total outputs (and you will use all 3 for the 3 screen Eyefinity set up). You can do HDMI to HDMI for one monitor, DVI-D to DVI-D for another, and this StarTech adapter from the DisplayPort out on the graphics card to the VGA cable that attaches to the VGA input on your monitor. This set up assumes that each of your 3 monitors have one HDMI input, one DVI-D input, and a VGA input. I'm using three of the Asus VS247H-P monitors. Thin bezel, good price, excellent reviews and all three of the listed inputs. You will need the most current drivers and AMD software that supports Eyefinity to get up and running without too much pain. So this is a good adapter at a fair price that will work with the Eyefinity three display set up for monitors without DisplayPort inputs.

Simple, accurate and perfect for what I was looking for
I wanted to add a seamless transitional monitor to my desktop. I wasn't sure if I just needed a VGA splitter (NOT!), and ended up looking for a reasonable adaptor. I did a search for the best for what I was looking for and this one was in the top ten (#2). I plugged it in and fired up the PC, and BAM, it was already recognizing 2 monitors. A simple "extend monitor" setting adjustment and I was working more efficiently. No messy driver additions. If youre looking for a effortless installation of a second monitor, this is the one to get.

Was a little concerned
Prior to receiving the device and just based on the product research, I was not positive this unit work for my setup (Samsung Galaxy S9 into HDMI projector) or it might fail early due to cheap material. The overall construction seems solid, although I naturally baby my electronics, e.g. no cord stresses. I have used it to for 26 hours on 12 non-continuous occasions and have not had a performance issue. The USB C connection should be non-specific as to orientation (there is no "right-side-up" in USB C), but I upon last use a connection was made only when flipping the connector 180-degrees. Note that I wirelessly charge my phone so this USB-to-HDMI device is the one and only device I plug into this slot, again, without any cord or connection stress. Thus 1-star off for durability.

I revise my earlier review
I wrote a 5 star review on this because it was working at the time. I have to revise my review because the adaptor has since stopped working after a few weeks. I don't know why it has stopped working but it no longer serves its purpose. By the way, the adapter plug has a locking catch that can be frustrating if one does not know about it. The plug locks in place by two spring catches on the top or bottom. You need to press the lever on the top or bottom of the plug to pull it out of its socket on the computer. I was tugging violently to get it out before I found this out.

Don't buy this if you want to try higher resolutions on your CRT!
If you're trying to go for anything above 1280 x 1204 then don't bother. This adapter's internals were swapped out with an inferior system in March. Sucks, but I gotta return it and look for something else.

Works as expected!
I originally discounted this item, figuring it was a bit expensive compared to some of the ostensibly comparable items available. However, having bought an iClever® Black Display Port DisplayPort Male to VGA Female Adapter Converter, which failed miserably, I came back and bought this instead. The colour cast problems I had with the other item are gone -- this displays identical colours to the primary monitor, and also copes with Windows 7 hibernation, which the iClever didn't. This is definitely a premium sort of product -- the packaging's better, there's a QR Code with a link to the product specification, the Displayport plug is latching, so that it doesn't fall out. All in all, it works as expected, and I can't ask for much more than that. It's more expensive than others, but worth the money for the quality.

Lasted a couple of weeks.
I bought one of these and worked well for a couple of weeks now the colours on screen are messed up and when I connect via 2 DVI connections & DP.. As soon as the DP connector is plugged in it disconnects the DVI's and the messed up colours appear again. When it did work Eyefinity was amazing 3 x27In Acer IPS monitors. Nw it's just fit for the bin. Waste of money.. I should've bought a better quality adapter. I suggest you do too.
