Installazione semplice in 15 minuti, hardware incluso.

More stability and boat control
I have a 16.5 foot Crestliner with a 60HP Mercury 4 stroke. Unlike most boaters that buy a Hydrofoil for their boat I had no problem getting on plane. The problem I had was holding the bow down in rough water. Once the chop got over a foot the ride got pretty rough even with the motor trimmed all the way down the boat would launch into the air on a wave. With the Dol-Fin on, the bow can be forced down to part the chop. It has the added benefit of making the boat feel more stable. On the negative side it is a little tricky to trim now. I am still learning, but it appears that I’ve lost a little in top speed and the faster I go the less I can trim. I think this is due to the lift generated by the foil. I also seem to have lost maybe half a mile per gallon at a cruising speed of 25MPH, however when it gets a bit rough my fuel economy is better because my boat doesn’t launch into the air on every wave so instead of plodding along at 15MPH I can do 20-22MPH. The ride isn’t any drier but it’s Much smoother. Bottom line is it stays on the boat most of my fishing is in Puget Sound, and wind forecasting in this area appears to be very difficult. Update 3 MAY 2020 After almost two years with this on my outboard I have come to the conclusion that any loss in top speed is less than 1/2 of a mile per hour. And loss of fuel economy on a smooth lake is negligible.

Simple 15 minute installation???
I bought this for my 16ft aluminum bass boat. Due to all the weight at the rear (3 huge batteries, fuel tank, wife, etc.) the boat would take a long time to get on plane with 40 hp motor. I needed to get on plane quicker and stay on plane at lower speed. The Doel-Fin looked like a low cost accessory that might solve my problem. Installation: The instructions that come with the Doel-Fin are virtually non-existent. There's good reason for this because these are claimed to fit all "newer" 5 hp & above outboards. That's a lot of very different outboards! Maybe there are some that will install in 15 minutes. My 40 hp Merc sure wasn't one of them; 3 1/2 hr start to finish. 1st problem was finding a location for the "fins" that would allow access for drilling the mounting holes. The problem was that the shape of the outboard wouldn't allow a straight shot at the holes. Tried from above and below and something always interfered with the drill motor (tried both conventional, and close-quarter 90 degree drill). By moving the fins rearward about an inch and shifting the forward holes outward, as well as using extra long drill bit, I was finally able to find a location that I could drill the mounting holes. The next problem was that the fins interfered with mounting of the trim tab. To overcome this I had to mark and trim away part of the underside of the fins. I can testify that these are made of tough material. Anyway I finally got the Doel-Fin mounted. So, how did it work? Well, it made a marked improvement in getting on plane. Best estimate is about a 40% reduction in time to get on plane. And the boat will plane at significantly lower speed. Downside? First, top speed was reduced by about 3mph. Since my "before" speed was only 30mph that is significant on a longer run. But I can live that. Additionally (and probably part of the speed problem), the power trim is extremely finicky to adjust. The motor can be trimmed up very little before the prop begins to ventilate. Finding the sweet spot for best speed is VERY difficult. For the time being I'm going to leave the Doel-fin on my boat. If I can't make some improvement in the trim problems I'll probably take the fins off. If anyone has suggestions on the trim issue I'd appreciate it.

Great for the value. Very easy to install.
Easy installation. Very well worth the money. It does everything exactly what was supposed to do. It reduces the bow of the boat getting a faster response time to plane on top speed, does get a noticeable difference of greater gas consumption reduced to a fuel increase- leading to fewer gas trips. The biggest difference between having this versus not having it is how much more smoothly the ride is on top speed, with very little usage of the trim in addition to the planning. To install it takes less than an hour. Very easy to install yourself. Take it out of the box and place it where it should be, make sure measure twice to drill once. Drill the holes with the fins on it, as it has pre-drilled holes to guide it. Place the nuts and bolts on, tighten it snug, but not to over tighten it. Depends on the make and model lower unit to install it really doesn't take long to get it done. I had to remove the prop on my 140 HP I/O. Looks great and does an amazing job for my boat. Great for water tubers and skier's that appreciate it for a faster out of the hole experience. I highly recommend it. Worth every single penny, does pay for itself.

Snug fit
Fins arrived quickly and look like they are very well made. Snug fit on 15 hp Suzuski but that is better than being loose. Would have given a 5 star rating if it wasent so hard to drill the holes, I had to take off the prop and go from the bottom up and on a bit of an angle, with a little fanangling I made it work.

Review after2 years of use
Writing a review after two years. This thing is awesome! Installed it professionally on my 10hp 2stroke, and the 10ft SIB planes in few seconds of throttle. Amazing stability, it actually stabilizes the boat like its part of the keel! I think the large wing design really helps. Thank you so much for this great design! I will buy one more for my 15hp!

Huge performance increase for a small boat
Huge difference in performance on my 12ft fiberglass boat with a 9.9 4-stroke. Before, even trimmed fully in, we had to move everyone to the bow to get on plane. Now in the middle trim position, it easily gets on plane in a matter of seconds. Consider a right angle drill, depending on the size and layout of your anti-cavitation plate. I was able to install it with a standard drill, but it was a bit of a struggle.

Confirmed, will fit 90HP and bigger outboards.
For those of you wondering, yes this product fits a 90HP like a glove and can say with confidence that these will work with 100+HP outboards as well as stern drives. For $60 you can’t go wrong for the performance increase and fuel consumption decrease. Very happy with product and quality. For half the price of what I’d pay in a store this is a STEAL!! I’ve bought, repaired, refurbished and flip many boats and I’ve put a foil on all of them and have received performance increases on every boat with this product.
