Best quality showerhead

I love that everything is metal. This thing feels solid and is comfortable to shower with. Pressure and distribution is great

Good Value - Great Pressure

I've purchased this shower head twice because it's that great. It's a simple install, and my favorite feature is the high water pressure without having to search and remove a water flow regulator. No negatives here. I wish it came with a wall holder but I just purchased one separately. I've tried many brands, and nothing compares to this. Highly recommend.

Very nice shower head, and at 2.5GPM and a wide head you enjoy lots of water for a very nice price.

Live in a household with 3 or 4 people taking showers and you need to crank your hot water heater up to the next setting of how hot the water is. With my 50 gallon tank that change resulted in a $50 per month difference in my natural gas bill. Other variables are going on so that is not a scientific analysis/measurement, but one thing is sure, hot water is your second most expensive utility. So what does that have to do with this showerhead? Namely this it put out 2.5 GPM which equates to using a lot less water than your old fire hose showerhead. That doesn't make this one unique because there are a lot of them at that flow rate available. I just thought you would be interested in that. The problem with lower flow rates is that if you have a standard width face on your showerhead, you not only are not getting as much water, you are also receiving it in a small pattern. The secret is to have a wide head like this Rio with several different patterns of spray. That gives you the feeling like you are still getting a lot of water on you just because there is such a wide array of it. So now onto this specific model. They advertise it as polished chrome and it sure as heck looks like a polished chrome bumper at a classic car show. However it is made from plastic, so the chrome is plastic, albeit a very high quality of plastic. It looks like flowed polished glass. The gray rubber side panels give you a good grip even if your hands are full of soap. I really like that it has a 5 foot long hose that comes with it because some come with these extra-long hoses that take up too much space in the shower. A 5 footer is just right. This Rio comes in at a very nice price point because they can afford to make you a quality shower head, but unlike some of the comparable models they come in at a higher price. So overall this is a nice quality and price ratio. I've bought quite a few shower heads, and this one is one that is part of the better half. All in all highly recommended.

I only use Speakman showerheads. This review is or the Speakman Rio Model VS-1240 showerhead, which (at 45 psi) has a minimum flow rate of 2 gallons per minute, and a maximum flow rate of 2.5 gallons per minute. Higher flow rates may be possible if you remove the governor in the handle. You do this by grabbing one of the 4 inner white plastic tabs and then pulling out at an angle to pry it out (you may have to pull quite firmly). Some have noted little or no change in the flow with the governor out; this means that the inflow rate from the faucet hose must be under 2.5 gallons per minute. That is, removal of the governor will only increase the flow rate if your faucet is able to supply a flow rate that exceeds 2.5 gallons per minute. If you are a stickler about things, you might want to measure the flow rate from your faucet before installing the new showerhead. Obviously, the showerhead itself cannot increase the flow rate above that of the faucet. I recently moved, and the showerhead in the master bath was a Delta. I replaced it with the VS-1240 showerhead, and immediately noted a huge increase in the quality of the shower. The Delta showerhead had 3 positions, but all were woefully inadequate at providing a quality shower. Showers took a long time because of the time it took to wash out the soap, and I didn’t really feel clean when I was done. In sharp contrast, the VS-1240 provides an excellent shower experience in any of the 5 settings and showers are much faster (except now I don’t want to get out of the shower). Shower mode is selected by rotating a tab on the showerhead. Using the analogy of a clock with the tab as the hour hand, these positions are roughly located at 3, 5, 6, 7, and 9 o’clock as you look up at the showerhead. The 3 o’clock position nearly shuts off the flow, which can be used to save water while you lather up or shave. The 5 o’clock position is the widest spray, which I find best for washing my hair. The 6 o’clock position gives a linear spray out of 5 sets of holes. The 7 o’clock position gives a general spray in the classic Speakman 5-hole pattern. Finally, the 9 o’clock position uses the center holes to deliver the most forceful flow, which I find best for washing the armpits. Once again, I am highly satisfied with a Speakman showerhead, and highly recommend the VS-1240.

Making it possible to adjust the angle of the bracket is the only needed improvement

I'm a big fan of Speakman shower heads - I had a chrome one in my shower for 20 years and it still works better than anything other brand. But I wanted the option of a hand-held shower head, so I got this one. The multiple shower settings are excellent. The pressure is great (why I love Speakman). The head and hose don't leak. Being able to concentrate the flow on one area is spa-like. BUT...I really wish the bracket that holds the shower head was adjustable. Since I'm tall, when I had the shower installed I had the plumbers run the pipe a little higher than standard, so I wouldn't have to duck to rinse my head and hair. With my older Speakman shower head, I could adjust the angle of the head on the pipe. But the bracket that holds the hand-held shower head doesn't tilt, so I have to stand at the back of the tub. Not a huge issue, but a bit of an annoyance, especially if two people are showering together.

Nice and sleek shower head for a relaxing feeling

This shower head works very well and is not too big or too wide. It is good to have a pause setting. The thing though is that you may need to roll by a few settings to get to that pause. I wish they did like kitchen faucet and have one dedicated button. The flow of water feels calming and if you have a fibreglass shower it is not too noisy. If you want a shower head with lots of pressure and a more standard basic setting, this is not a shower head for you. But if you are water conscious and enjoy a relaxing and calming shower, then this is a shower head for you.

This is a really great hand-shower! The only thing that I didn't really like is that the entire thing (except the hose) is plastic. The hose has a stainless steel outer-shell. The unit is well made, and looks great, but I would've liked one that is full stainless steel or chromed metal of sorts.

Flow is not as strong as shower head.

I already own a Speakman shower head for over a year and I absolutely loved it. I ordered this hand held to use on my other shower. It was so disappointing when compared to my shower head. The flow is not nearly as strong, but still felt solidly built for being plastic. The hose is metal though.
