Needs a small tweak to be a great product

This would be a great product if they did not make the back plate (where the putter sits), not slick. I have a difficult time resting the putter behind the ball on the device, because it is slick, making it difficult to keep the putter head steady. I end up using it to set up the tees and removing the device to get a meaningful practice. The premise is good - light weight, easy to carry in the golf bag, but functionally, a small tweak (perhaps scoring the back or simply dulling the gloss) would make it a real winner. Wish I was aware of that before I purchased it.

Get straighter putts after using this trainer.

I like the trainer for helping me putt straighter. Its light and portable. I wish they had one made out of aluminum.

Great tool for improving putting skills.

I got an indoor putting green and was having a blast with it just playing around. I’m not a good golfer and my putting skills are severely lacking unless I’m playing mini-golf. Weird, I know, I can’t figure it out either. Anyway, I had given up on the indoor putting green as a learning tool and had relegated it to just game use between my wife and I. Then this trainer reared its head. Now we’re talking. No way I’m taking it out to a course to practice, I look embarrassing enough as it is, but for in-home use I’m on it. When I combined this with my indoor putting green I actually started improving. Of course setting it up on an indoor green took a little finesse, I mean I couldn’t use tees to hold it down, so I used tall thumbtacks. It was nowhere near as sturdy as tees would make it, but well worth the tradeoff for being able to use it in privacy. Anyway using this trainer, it didn’t take me long to figure out I would have to blame my putter for my lack of skills. I mean I had everything I needed to improve, and while I was showing improvement there was still plenty of room for more; and no way was it my inability to learn. Plus factor in my skills on the mini-golf course using plain old putters, and that just left my fancy putter with the oddly bent handle as the weak link. So I got a new putter and used it with this trainer…now we’re talking. I still suck, but not nearly as much. The trainer forces you to control your putter during your swing, and makes it readily apparent when you don’t Use it enough and the swing becomes second nature, which is what I was looking for. The construction makes the trainer flexible, but you need to be careful how you pack it, otherwise you could permanently bend it on the way to the course. That will dramatically limit its usefulness. Not a problem for me, but if you travel with it keep that in mind.

easy to use

simple product. needs to be used on a real green. tried to use on carpet during but tees do not work too good

Flimsy, over priced - one to avoid

I will start by saying the concept is excellent and will definitely improve your putting but this version is a completely over priced rip off. Rather than being something sturdy it is incredible flimsy made, I doubt it cost more than £1 to make. I will need to buy some 2mm acrylic to stick to the back of it to make it robust. Avoid like the plague - there are bound to be far better made options than this one: I have bought other SKLZ stuff and found it to be good quality and fairly priced so I have no idea why they got it so wrong this time
