Flexible, minimal protection

OK, full disclosure... I bought this as part of a gag gift for a friend who put his noggin through a wall (sheet rock - he's OK). It's pretty small (kid sized, I'd say) and isn't very robust. I guess it offers basic protection for minor bumps, and has an adjustable chin strap. They stitching seems pretty sturdy and the "helmet" is flexible & soft (comfortable?).

Order a size larger than what you need

It's a good product but I didn't give it 5 stars because it is a little small. We ordered a large and it fit more like a medium.

It's cool (not hot)

I use this for my husband who has dementia. It's cool (not hot), and seems comfortable. It's a nice level of safety. It's a large, but still a tight fit, so watch the size. It came folded the wrong way, and I still don't have it molded the right way yet, but it works, and I'm happy we have it.

runs small and not durable

I ordered this for my 8 year old son who has autism and head bangs. I measured his head and ordered the size it indicated I needed (a large) but when I received it it would not even go on his head. I returned it and ordered an X-large, which did fit, but only just. In the two months he has had it it has broken three times (broken stitching where the chin strap attaches to the helmet) but I have been able to repair it. Today it broke again beyond repair (broken stitching in the main helmet and padding coming out). I will not be purchasing another, will be looking for something with stronger construction.

This "open helmet" works very well and has saved "head bumps" quite a few times.

Wouldn’t protect anyone.

Wouldn’t protect anyone from a fall. Purchased a rugby helmet instead, it works and it came in different colors. My daughter likes the rugby helmet just fine.

I measured my person's head as it was attended for...it measured 20 inches....I bought the small at 19 to 20 inches, and it was way to small...I will buy another at the Medium size, only because I like the lightness of it, since this person has a 'shunt'
