I had to adapt it to work

I have a Gary Fisher bike that had heavy front shock and I bought a threaded solid fork and used 2 parts of this kit for the bottom bearing. I could have not done it with out the headset but I had to pay full price and only used 2 parts of it. I used my angle grinder to cut off the top of the shocks fork and it fit loose over the threaded fork tube. So I used self mixing epoxy and let it set up. Then I drilled a hole through the upper pipe I cut off the shock forks and the inner part of the threaded fork and pounded a long screw like a rivet and tightened it so no play at all was felt. It worked perfectly and I am happy to have dropped 9 pounds of my bike/

Worked satisfactory.

I was replacing the bearing on a 20 year old Huffy Mountain bike. The original upper bearing had crumbled. I was going to use the original cups and just replace the bearing, but the bearings were slightly bigger and would not fit in the original cups, so I had to remove the cups as well and use all of the new peices. Everything assembled as expected. As for the dimples on the cups, that part was fine. The dimples are designed to indent when the bearing cup is put in place. This takes up any space where there might be a slight difference in size from one design to another. The assembly might require the cups to be tapped or pressed into the frame.

This head set was a perfect fit . I rec'd it sooner than expected, it was well packed and has replaced one that was in bad shape on a kids bike, his eyes were wide and bright when he rec'd his new old bike, that in it self is a great reward for me. Great product and service. Thank you

Did not fit a vintage Schwinn World Sport

Got this to replace worn parts on a vintage Schwinn world sport. The cups did not fit in the frame. They a couple of mm's too big. The product description just says fit older American bikes. I guess I'd give the product an OK rating. there didn't appear to be anything wrong with it. But Niagara cycle works could stand to update the product description, maybe provide some actual measurements. Yeah, that would be nice.

NOT As Pictured Or Expected

This would be a great set, except for the fact that the steering tube cups have 3 bumps protruding on the outer rim. These bumps effectively ensure that they will not fit on my bikes (neither my '46 or '53 Schwinn DX). If the bumps weren't present, it would fit great. Also, while the packaging indicates that it is a Wald headset, the top nut clearly states that it is made by YST, & not Wald. I have used multiple Wald headsets in the past, & never had an issue with them previously. None of my previous sets had the bumps on the tube cups either. I contacted Niagra Cycle Works to ask for a refund & for them to cover return shipping since the issue was not on my end. Niagra's response was as follows: ============================================================================================= "Unfortunately, "fits older American bikes" doesn't mean "fits ALL older American bikes", there is no such thing as one size fits all. These come in a clear bag that has Wald 4080 printed on the bag. I cannot say how they are stamped I have never looked that closely." ============================================================================================= That's all well & good if they didn't have measurements listed that don't match up when you factor in the bumps I mentioned. This SHOULD fit my bike if I go by the measurements. Also, considering that the top nut has a different manufacturer listed, I would expect that a refund & return shipping would not be an issue. Niagra is offering a refund, but if I factor in the return costs, I am essentially losing almost the entire purchase price. Not only that, but a week later I still can't assemble my bike since I can't attach the forks & handlebars. Having to hunt down *just* the tube cups has been much harder than I expected. I ended up having to purchase another entire set just to get the 2 pieces that should have been correct in the first place. Still waiting on that set to arrive, so this purchase delayed me by 2 weeks. Buyer beware.

Great product

I received a trashed vintage bike as a gift. The original headset was 60 years old an need replaced. I greased up the bearings, dropped it in, tightened it up, and noticed that the action is smoother than the new bicycles in the currently for sale.

fits schwinn beach cruisers from 1930 till 1980's

I put this kit on three Schwinn's it is stock and looks original also I had a Dayton 1948 it fits on them as well, if you are binding take off the three tabs on the outer cones to ensure a snug fit on the 1 1/ tube
