Works great with one exception.
I used three of these for a long road trip. They were carried on hitch tray behind vehicle. Everything went good with loading and unloading everyday. Normal dirt from the road and such but very simple and easy to wipe clean. The only consideration is if water puddles on top, it will end up inside the bag. My solution was to transport them on their side with the zipper flap folded down toward the ground or whole bag flipped upside-down. Worked great after that discovery.

Great product
First off, the bag is big. A little bit bigger than a Military duffel bag. Yes, waterproof. Drove through a rain storm and everything was fine. We strapped straight down to the roof with the supplied straps. Everything held in place on a journey from San Antonio, Texas to Seattle, Washington. The only issue I have, was, I could not get the straps through the buckles on the bag, so I had to take them apart and redo them. When I strap to the roof, everything held in place the entire time. Fantastic product! I’m glad I bought 2

great bag!
I drove from SF Bay to the Outerbanks of NC with this strapped at the back of my roof rack, and it held up great. I had a couple of days of rain and everything stayed dry. Right line is a great brand. I also have their SUV back carrier bag and SUV tent. All quality and durable products.

Not very waterproof
I took this bag on a trip across the country and the first time it rained, it failed. It would probably be fine for a light drizzle that doesn't last very long, but after a solid rain one afternoon there was literally standing water in the outer zipper pocket as well as on the inside of the bag - everything inside was soaked. Very disappointing.

Don't hesitate. They work perfectly.
We bought 2 of these to strap to our station wagon to drive 3,200 miles cross country from PA to CA. We wanted to put our clothes in them to free up space in the car. Naturally, having never used these before, we were worried they would fall off and all our clothes would be lost instantaneously. We should not have worried. These are extremely durable and weather resistant. They held up in rain, cold, high winds, and extreme heat. After the first day of driving, I was not concerned at all about them falling off. They are also very spacious. They allowed us to fit much more than clothes. The majority of our 4 person families' things for a week could fit in these bags. They are huge, but not too unwieldy to carry around hotels. I don't think you would want to leave them strapped to your car overnight because there is no security whatsoever. Now I know they can also be brought on airlines, I'm interested in the idea of using them on a European road trip or something. They will fit onto any car. Worth every penny. I cannot recommend these enough.

So glad we bought these!
We recently used two of these bags on the rackless roof of our Honda Fit. The straps were a bit of a pain to adjust, but once adjusted are easy enough to use. Bags are big enough for storing upright re-usable grocery bags full of stuff, maybe four in one bag. They are not long enough to fit our beach umbrella, even disassembled. We had no trouble with the zippers, but the bags were not full to bursting. We used the roof pad as well, so as not to scratch the top of our car. Definitely trim it, as it made noise otherwise. The clips that are used to attach the bags to the roof worked in our car, but did make it so the top of the door couldn't quite shut flat, and thus there was quite a bit of wind noise. I suspect this would not be the case in all cars...but we've had issues with things working the way they are supposed to on the Fit in the past. Definitely not a Subaru. I can't speak to the noise in other vehicles. Regardless, they gave us lots of extra packing room in our car, didn't allow wet in, attached firmly and didn't slip around at all, and were easy to remove. Be careful not to make them too heavy, as you have to lift them to the top of your car packed unless you are tall enough to reach the roof of your car to pack them without a stool!

No roof rack no problem.
Used 2 of these on a 2016 Honda Fit for a 1300 mile trip. The bag is well made with an industrial Plastic or tarp feel that has a strong plasticky smell. Held up well through heavy rain, side pockets are a little leaky so don't put anything you don't want wet in there. My two biggest gripes are: the first is car specific, if you don't have a roof rack and you anchor the bag through your doors be prepared for 2 things: wind noise and rain leaking into the cabin during heavy or prolonged downpour. Again this may vary depending on your car and how bulky the rubber door seals are. Secondly and definitely unsurprising, carrying this on your roof will impact your gas mileage significantly, how bad it is may again depend on your vehicle. Overall worked well and would recommend for cars without roof racks, if you have a roof rack even better.

Great for adding space to a compact car, details not accurate.
I bought this duffel bag for my Chevy Cruze which doesn’t have a rack for a 2300 mile round trip. The bag is not 100% waterproof (more like 95%) and after reading several reviews I made sure to wrap everything I put inside of it in trash bags. The material was durable and held up great against heavy rain and winds. The clips to hold the bag in place were pulling the weather strip off of the doorway, so I rigged it to the coat hanger on the inside of each doorway and it was much more stable. Great purchase overall since it did it’s job of giving us extra space in the compact car.

Car Duffle
Mixed feeling on this. I prefer it over the hard top carrier that we had. But one loaded, it's heavy and bulky to work with. It really isn't very weather tight. A light right while stationary is one thing, but driving through rain at 80 k and over, the seal is ineffective. Get used to wrapping your clothes etc in plastic bags before loading. We strap the bag down with bungies. it would be nice if the manufacture had incorporated some tabs that would secure the point of attachment. Also wish we could have gone with two smaller bags instead of the one large that we bought.

Great product
We drove from Lake Huron to Nova Scotia with the Rightline Car Top Duffle Bag on a Prius C with no roof racks. It stayed put for the whole trip. Anytime we heard noise from the straps (2-3 times, maybe?) we tightened them up or tucked in a loose end. The video tutorial helped us get started and know what to expect. This was a trip saver for a long road trip in a tiny car.

Extremely happy with this purchase!
Exceeded our expectations and it held more luggage than we anticipated. It was very easy to move from place to place and lightweight enough for one person. This is also weatherproof, not just water resistant. Worth every penny!
