Perfect for Apartment Cats!
My veterinarian is a huge fan of interactive puzzle feeders for indoor cats. She easily convinced me that it is very important to (1) my cat's mental health and (2) her staying at a healthy weight that she not get bored when she's home alone all day. Unfortunately, the puzzle feeders my veterinarian suggested to me were all so UGLY. It took weeks of searching, but I am very happy that I finally found this large (8.25" diameter) heavy (3lb.) ceramic feeder. It looks really good in my tiny kitchen. My cat seems to enjoy working for her meals, and she also seems to be much perkier and more playful. (Warning: She cried pathetically for almost an hour before sticking her paw inside the feeder and flicking out her first piece of kibble.) Every morning, I measure my cat's kibble into her feeder. Work mornings, I put the feeder in the middle of the kitchen floor before I leave the apartment so that she can attack it from all directions. I highly recommend this very attractive puzzle feeder to anyone who shares an apartment with a cat!

Absolutely perfect
Wow. I was looking for a slow feeder, something that would maybe help my 7 year old cat lose a bit of weight or at least have her eat at a slower pace. And I wanted to avoid plastic. This was recommended to me and I think it might be one of the best decisions I’ve made for her. She took to it pretty quickly, after trying to get me to get the food for her. She still wants me to feed her directly but she can definitely handle getting the food herself, she’s not going to starve but cats are drama queens, haha Her food intake has reduced BY HALF. I’m not exaggerating. From the moment I got this bowl, she has been only eating half of what I usually fed her in a regular bowl. She has to work a bit for the food, which means she stops eating when she feels full after less. And she purrs constantly if I’m next to her while she fishes it out, which is adorable (and also probably her way of trying to get me to get it out for her lol). As a bonus effect, she now gets the zoomies a lot more. She’s more energetic and playful, yet still as cuddly as ever. I think this bowl may be stimulating her mentally too. I recommended this same bowl to my sister, who bought it for her two cats and they also love it! It’s a simple design that works and is much more durable and nicer than plastic.

Excellent product
I rarely write a review but I am so pleased with this product that I felt I should. I have a 12 year old cat with a plastic allergy so I have been very limited in options for treat puzzles. Because this is ceramic it is totally safe for him to use. He is obsessed with food but shows very little interested in toys anymore. I basically got this in an attempt to give him some mental stimulation/enrichment as well as to slow him down a bit at meal time. It has worked perfectly. It took about 30 minutes for him to figure it out and now he's a Pro at reaching in and pulling out his catch. I was also a bit concerned about cleaning but it is a breeze to clean. Just rinse it out with some soapy water and can pretty much reach in to towel dry and leave to air dry after. It's perfect. It's also very sturdy and heavy so not easily pushed around. I couldn't be more pleased!

FINALLY!
I have a teen cat that is basically a pig and a 3 mo. old kitten who is not a big eater. The older kitty has the potential to become seriously obese. I've tried other slow feeders with hills/valleys, but her relatively flat face could not get the kibble. She also waited for the kitten to retrieve kibble, then would steal it from her. Larger kitty could also tip the slow feeder and spill all kibble on the floor for immediate inhaltion. I LOVE this feeder - doesn't tip, both cats took to it immediately, it has different sized holes for different sized paws, retrieving the kibble makes a stimulating sound for kitty ears, the kitten can retrieve kibble without it being stolen, it's heavy and doesn't require a pointy snout to retrieve (like some feeders). I have not yet washed it so can't comment on its durability, however it is ceramic and I would expect it to last for some time. Kitties also retrieve kibble methodically which cuts down on the frustration aspect. Overall this is a big win!

Good cat bowl!
Was hesitant but I’m glad I purchased this bowl. My cat eats so fast that he would always throw up right after eating and this has helped a lot. Also he doesn’t drag this bowl all over the house like his regular bowls and there isn’t food scattered all over after he eats. He swipes a bit out and eats it then agaian and again but took him a week or two to fully figure out how to eat from this bowl.

Skeptical at first but now I'm a believer!
The media could not be loaded. At first, I was very skeptical but definitely wanted it to work -- since the bowl was pricier than expected -- AND since my vet recommended it for my chunky Lucy. She seemed to be frustrated and anxious trying to figure it out and I put a few kibbles on the placemat to 'get her going'. She only wanted to figure it out when I was standing over her. I expressed some tentativeness about continuing with it in a follow-up phone call with my vet and she said 'Trust me, she'll figure it out". Then I listened from my bedroom one night, and in less than 5 minutes, I heard it scoop out at least 6 pieces! I stuck to it for another few days and yes, my little diva is now an expert at it and can scoop 1-3 kibbles out at one time. She seems to be left-pawed and circles it counter-clockwise! LOL... Leave some space around the bowl/mat and not against the wall. Since mid-November, she's lost 1 lb. and does not urp up her food (only twice in almost 2 months) as this really slows her down. It seemed difficult to wash at first and having only one bowl, it was a bit of a pain. Then I realized it does not really get that dirty so when I do wash it, I put a different portion control bowl (different style) while this one is in the sink. I just put some dish soap and hot water in the bottom, then take a bottle brush to the inside portion and use the various holes. Air dries easily. So all in all, it's a keeper. I think it keeps Lucy more engaged, not as bored, encourages the hunting instinct as she's trying to figure out the 'puzzle' to get her kibble out, and the weight loss is real. Glad my vet recommended it!

It works
OK so our rather hefty kitty hates us for this, but it works. It’s good quality and easy to fill. My only complaint is that the design makes it difficult to clean - you will need a bottle brush or something similar. Also, since the cats have to pick out the food, you end up with crumbs on the floor so a food mat is a good idea.

Works! Slows my cat down
I got this because my cat has the tendency to gobble her food up MUCH too quickly. She basically inhales it. This little device keeps her occupied for longer than a regular bowl would for the same amount of food. Now, she’s not exactly HAPPY about it, and likes to pretend that she doesn’t understand how to get to her food daily, but lo and behold, she does figure it out. Knocked out a star because the design is not heavy enough to really stay in one place (though must work better than the plastic alternative), and the lip at the bottom holds some kibble hostage. Be that as it may, I’m satisfied with this purchase.

Does not work for every cat
I bought this so my cat would eat slower. She ended up starving herself for an entire day as she could not figure out how to use the dish. The dish itself was very good quality.
