These shorts excellent.
If I were to design my ultimate mountain bike shorts, I'd copy the Gore C3 exactly. Here are the highlights: - Lightweight and comfortable; - Belt loops. There is elastic in the back of the waistband, but it is unobtrusive and does not look like dorky toddler pants (ala Zoic Ether). Also, no side adjustment tabs with patches of velcro or other silly adjustment schemes. The elastic is enough to secure the shorts on me; I imagine that it will eventually give out. Thanks to the belt loops I'll be able to use one of my webbing belts. - Zipper fly with double snap waistband closure. There is a little strip of velcro outboard of the snaps that keeps the closure tidy. That velcro is concealed. The fly is crucial, but the zipper is not. I had a pair of Fox shorts that had a zipperless fly. I was surprised that I liked the no zipper design. The Fox shorts self-destructed after about a dozen rides. - Hand Pockets: Hand pockets are zipperless (Good!), perfectly sized, and have channels that keep earbud wires from dangling and getting snagged. - Cargo pockets: I hate cargo pockets so I almost did not buy these shorts. But these pockets are different. Instead of a flap closure there is a zipper (Good!) and the zipper is oriented at the proper angle. Contents of the pocket stick out instead of getting pressed into my leg like they do in shorts that have the leg pockets sewn on the inside. I love these pockets. - Back pockets: There are none. Back pockets are useless on bike shorts. - Fit: Comfortable, but not baggy. I move around the cockpit a lot. Looser shorts snag on bike parts, especially the saddle. These do not. If you must wear a padded liner, order a size larger. But I recommend that you eliminate the need to pad your butt. Try a better-fitting saddle and modifying your riding to getting off the saddle more often. You are missing out on lots of advantages by staying on the saddle. - Style: Style is the least important aspect of functional clothing. However, I dislike functional clothing that is designed to scream "I want to look like I'm an awesome participant of (whatever activity)!" The Gore C3 style is understated and to my eye, among the best-looking MTB shorts. - Durability: I haven't ridden in these shorts enough to have an opinion regarding durability. - DURABILITY UPDATE: I've worn these shorts on 118 hard trail rides, according to my Strava records. The shorts still look and feel exactly like my backup pair that have never been worn. AMAZING! - Price: The first time I bought these (Nov '19), the price was $32. A month later, the price was $23, so I bought a second pair. There is no way that I would recommend buying any shorts for $100. You can buy three excellent Columbia Silver Ridge Cargo quick dry shorts for that much and they will be just as good. Or, 4 Carhartt shorts, if you don't mind cotton.

Suboptimal fit.
Pros: These shorts appear to be reasonably well made. They have functional belt loops and four good pockets. The fabric seems appropriate for the intended use. Cons: The crotch of the shorts seems too low and tends to catch on my bike saddle. The fabric seemed noisy while pedaling. The fit runs large. My 32" waist falls squarely in the Medium range on the size chart but the shorts are much too loose in the waist. Wearing a belt, the excess material at the waist bunches and pushes out from under the belt.

Really nice shorts
These fit very well and have adequate pockets. They wash and dry really well. My go to riding pants.

Don't like companies that charge shipping
I liked the short but it was too small, bike shorts I usually wear 32-33 waist, so I ordered 32 since they don't have 33, they run small I guess. now I like to exchange it , but I have to pay $3.65 for shipping and if the 34 is too big then I have to pay another $3.65. Don't like the companies that charge shipping and don't have an store so you can try the product prior to purchasing it.

very high quality
I bought an XL with a 36 inch waist and they are perfect. Really nice quality and good storage. Higher waist in back keep them from pulling down when you're on the trail. I bought them for single track, but would ride them on the road too. Great product.

Comfy with zippered pockets!
These are exactly what my husband wanted. He wears these when he's out on his mountain bike. The zippered pockets are nice to store extra items in without the worry of loosing them on the trail. Great comfy fit.

Comfort
I have learned that Gore shorts typically run small, so I ordered up to size Large. All-day comfortable. Great materials / construction / build quality. These shorts do Not have a padded short (inner layer) so you'll need to add that for long rides. Sweet color scheme too.

Expected better
Ok shorts, elastic waistband is kind of weak, will give 5 stars if it is made that way

Good fit. Pricey though.
Comfy, well made. Expensive but worth it.

Good quality and fit
Good quality mtb shorts, a good fit for me, and a decent length for mountain biking down to the knee. They are expensive but probably worth it for the fit and look. They don’t come with any dwr water resistance but that’s the only bad thing about them. I’m 5 11” ,about 72kg, with a 32” waist and a medium fitted me perfectly.

Excellent quality and good fit.
Great shorts and typical excellent Gore quality. I find the fit is always good with Gore kit, and although it is slim/tight the material stretches a little so ideal for bike shorts. Good size and zipped pockets are useful. I use the shorts for commuting and MTB. I am c.32-33" waist and Medium fits fine, so the sizing chart is sound. Update after one year: I regularly wear the shorts on my daily commute and despite the use in all weathers they are still in excellent condition. Recommendation still stands, pricey but worth the outlay for the quality.

Nice comfortable shorts, feel like quality.
I bought a Gore cycling top a few years ago. Had proved to be great value for money. Not cheap but I have worn it 100s of times. So I was happy to spend a bit more on Gore shorts if they give me that level of service. So far so good. Nice fit, good pockets and zips. Time will tell!

Not too baggy, great shorts
Would be even better if there was a waterproof panel at the back for rear wheel spatter
