Not strong enough when extended for a tall paddler.

I bought this paddle since it is adjustable and would give me a chance to dial in my desired paddle length before buying a higher quality fixed length paddle. It seems like a good paddle for the price, but it is not good if you are tall. I am 6'2" and 195# in pretty good shape. I had it extended to where the fifth from the last position was locked in and was about 2 miles away from my truck on my second trip with it when it snapped at the 5th from the last position inside the connection. It was still useable as a short paddle and I made it back paddling on my knees. At shorter lengths it seems plenty robust, but at longer extension, a solid dig and it cracked. I wrote Airhead to ask if they will send a new handle and they told me to just return the paddle to Amazon.

4 stars only because I have limited amount of useage

So I have used this paddle 5 times, I am paddling for about 3 hours straight in choppy to smooth conditions. So far so good, I have dropped it and found that there is foam in the handle area so it floats, I also put a dab of silicone grease on the paddle joint area, just to seal it more. So far I love it and for the price I got it at I cannot complain one bit. I do think getting fitted for one for these longer trips I have done would have been better, but still nothing to complain about.

SUP Paddle-adjustable

SUP paddle arrived just as represented and quickly. Time will tell the quality of this item. Not as solid or as comfortable as the Costco paddle that comes in their SUP package but this paddle weighs less (1/2) and that is supposed to make a difference over time.

Absolutely Perfect for it's price and features!

First, to address the other negative reviews on this product; - It DOES float (see my submitted photos above) ... The upper handle of the paddle is filled with a closed-cell foam, and the paddle section is self buoyant... the paddle floats just fine. Even when I have my GoPro camera attached to it, it supports the weight easily. So, don't worry about lit sinking if you drop it... it'll come right back up to the surface. Okay - So it's priced as a typical SUP paddle... the description states it is a fiberglass paddle... I will say that it is lighter than my aluminum SUP paddle that came with my Saturn iSUP. It breaks down into three separate pieces for easy storage and transportation, and it is adjustable for different paddle lengths. It's not 'ultra-light' ... but certainly isn't heavy. It pushes water when I need it to, it adjusts length so many people can use it, and it's relatively inexpensive in comparison to other choices out there. It's a fantastic recreational paddle! It's been used heavily by us, both for cruising on the lake and survives me when I 'dig deep' to pull some pretty good speed and reps on the board. If you're looking for an SUP paddle that is user-friendly, easy on the wallet, stores and transports easily and is lighter than the stock aluminum paddles... this is the one!

Will break for a taller paddler.

I've had this paddle as a back-up for a few years. I've let my kids or nieces use it when we have a big group going out. I'm 6'1" and decided to use the paddle to let the kids use my light, high quality Werner paddles. Three strokes and the paddle snapped just above the clamp. I suppose it's sturdy enough for the shorter paddler but the weight presents a problem. For the taller paddler its just not sturdy enough.

Like the paddle except the blade sinks if it gets disconnected from the handle which happened to a guest one week after I bought it. Design mod to keep that from happening would be good

Overall good for flat water paddling

Works fine for our lake use. No problem with breakage as others have said. The point where the two parts meet is right where you want to put your lower hand. This is not the most comfortable.

Too weak when adjusted for 83"

I ordered two of these paddles and they seemed to work very well, but on the first trip out the one that was adjusted to 83" broke on the inside as the fiberglass is not strong enough to withstand normal paddling. I noticed it started to flex in my friends hand when he was paddling and I didn't think much about it until the handle snapped. If you're going to use this paddle at the 72"-75" settings, it's great, BUT you can't extended it to the max for a 6' adult. PS - it does float.

Este paddle se suponía que está hecho de fibra de carbono aunque se ve y se siente super frágil. Se rompió la primera vez que lo usamos , compre 5 piezas para mí club de paddle. Desafortunadamente no los puedo regrese ya que de verdad los necesito y no he podido encontrar otros en el lugar en donde vivo. Me quedaré con 4 en contra de mi voluntad pero no los usaré para hombres o personas que reman con un poco mas fuerza. De verdad el precio es muy buena pero es muy baja calidad.

Spend a bit more and get something vastly better or don't bother with adjustable

Poorly made, the paddle head lacks contours, and the paddle itself isnt solid enough. When extended past halfway, it wobbles more and more, getting worse the more you extend it. I personally am tall and needed to use it at the full extended length and it really doesn't do the job. It'll end up as a spare/backup paddle or for purple to borrow or something. Big waste of money - spend more - get something worthwhile. We tried some rentals that were adjustable that were vastly better. The best iron would really be to figure out your size and avoid the adjustable paddles altogether but thats just my opinion after this wasted attempt.
