okay...but my next one will be a Viking brand.
Manufacturer needs to find a different & better way of adhering label to the pan. I had to soak it for quite a while, scrape with a wooden scraper, and the bottom is now discolored from the adhesive they used. Not good that they put a bar code sticker on the underside bottom of the pan as well...again, discolored the stainless. Won't buy the smaller one...going back to Cuisinart or Viking.

Great 12" fry pan
I don't often use a fry pan this large, but occasionally it's the best option. I looked at a lot of pans, not wanting to spend a great deal of money for a pan seldom used. I eventually settled on this pan from Winco, and I'm glad I did. There are two 12" fry pans produced by Winco and they do differ in construction. The pan I bought is closest to what you might find in a restaurant; pretty basic with a hollow tube handle with hanging hole. The other model has a solid handle with hole, and from what I can tell, the encapsulated aluminum base extends up the sides. It also has a red silicone handle grip built in, and costs a bit more. The pan under review has an encapsulated bottom, curved sides (omelet style) that are stainless only; no aluminum in the sides. Considering the size of the pan and what I would use it for I thought it better to NOT have encapsulated sides; this would add to the weight of the pan and take more energy to heat. This pan is not overly heavy but certainly durable and pretty well balanced. The handle is held in place by four rivets and measures 10 1/2" long, with a 1" diameter. Being hollow the handle stays quite cool no matter how long it's on the stove, so a silicone sleeve is really unnecessary. There's a solid helper handle held in place by two rivets; a good idea when the pan is full of food. The external diameter of the pan at the lip edge is 13 1/8", about 12 5/8" internally. The external base of the pan, the part that contacts the burner, has a diameter of 10 1/2", and internally the flat cooking area is 10 1/4". The sides are 2 1/4" from base to lip. I've used this pan for a variety of cooking tasks involving simmering to searing, and I'm impressed by its' performance. The base heats evenly, even on an 8" electric coil, so that the outer edges carry nearly as much heat as the center and cooking is uniform. The cooking surfaces are not mirror finished; in fact they feel rather rough to the touch, and yet I've never had anything stick to this pan despite using some medium/high heat on occasion. And "eggs over easy" cooked up perfectly without sticking. Of course this means slowly preheating the pan up to temperature with a little light oil before any food is introduced, something that should always be done with any stainless pan to eliminate sticking. I've used only metal tools with this pan without introducing any real scratches, so the surface seems to be pretty durable. Like most stainless it will discolor depending on temperatures used and the acidity of the food, but Barkeeper's Friend easily returned this pan to "like new" condition. So I can't really find fault with this pan at all. It's not the prettiest pan on the rack, but it has handled every cooking task with minimal fuss and excellent results. If you want a really large fry pan for really little money that performs admirably, this is a very good choice, and I recommend it highly. Winco makes a flat stainless lid for their 12" fryers which I'm also impressed with, and I recommend that as well.

Additional information on this fry pan
I'm picky about my pans, but unfortunately bought this product without fully researching it, which I have now done after the fact. Before getting into that, Amazon originally listed this item in the shipping section as 20 pounds. I knew that had to be a mistake. They subsequently corrected this, and now that I have the pan, it actually weighs around one pound. My husband thought it was of a good weight for cooking; I think it's a little lighter than it should be. It's also listed as an 8 inch pan, but be aware that your existing 8 inch lids won't fit it correctly; I know because I had three different lids and thought that one of them would surely fit, but none of them do. If you want to research this Winco (not "Winware" as Amazon has it listed) product or any others in this line, here is the web information: [...] I provide this because "Winware" is the wrong name (the label on the pan says Winco), and this pan doesn't come up easily on a Google search; you have to look for it. The company's toll free number is: 1-888-946-2682. The Winco product number, which you will need (not provided by Amazon) is SSFP-8. I would strongly encourage you to fully research any Winco products before you buy them. The two major things I was looking for was the gauge of the stainless steel and whether this pan would go in the dishwasher. This information is not provided either on the Amazon page or on the product label, so I was hopeful for good news, but it wasn't. Most high quality pans are a level of 18 gauge stainless steel, preferably 18/10. This pan is 20 gauge. The lower the gauge number, the thicker the steel, meaning that this pan is thinner than most quality cookware. The customer service representative did say that this pan uses induction heat, if that is important to you. I did give it the acid test, making scrambled eggs with cream cheese, and it worked okay and cleaned up well. Also, this pan will tolerate the dishwasher. From an appearance standpoint, this is a cheap looking pan. It's made in China, and it shows. The handle is riveted on, and I'm wondering whether it with stand up to normal use. I will revisit this review after I have used it for several months, but my initial outlook is pessimistic. Amazon currently has this pan on sale for $14.88. If I had this to do over, I wouldn't buy the pan at all, but having it, I think it's worth about $10 given the gauge of the steel and that conventional 8 inch lids will not fit it. September 10, 2011 update: This pan has held up better than expected, although it does not get too much use. The handle is sturdy (no flex) and the pan's finish has held up through dishwasher cleaning. I still would not recommend spending the current price for this pan, however. May 28, 2014 update: We still have this pan, and it would have held up better, in my opinion, had my husband not used high heat when cooking with it. The handle is still sturdy, although there is now staining on the pan, inside and out, again, due to the user's cooking with too high heat.

Not so smooth
I needed a large pan and this is great for that. It's very heavy which is fine, being it is large. But the interior of the pan isn't smooth & shiney like other stainless steel pans. I guess that's the quality you get for the price. But overall it's good

I wasn't expecting much, but got worse.
I was not expecting much when I ordered. First according to the listing it is made in USA, so I figured it would not be too bad. But the one that arrived was made in china. I was expecting commercial grade basic stainless pan, as I have worked in the restaurant business for over 25 years before leaving it. This pan would not last a week in a commercial kitchen. The handle is just a crimped thin wall stainless tube and looks like it could bend easily. the handel sticks straight out of the pan, so it won't stack well with other pans and looks kind of absurd. I did test and it seems to heat under induction but did not remove the label as I am returning the Chinse junk, It would be a good deal for fifteen bucks or so. It is what I would expect ordering from AliExpress.

Not worth the money
I love stainless steel kitchenware and was looking forward to an 8in pan. Upon arrival I was surprised how difficult it was to remove a small label on the bottom. But when I tried to remove the big label inside the pan it was impossible. I soaked the pan in warm soapy water for several hours, nothing…..I noticed then the pan had a discolouration all around the outside, a dark circle around the pan of darker color which I could not remove with gentle soapy water. It took many more hours of soaking and finally it came out when using tea tree oil (best non toxic glue remover) and soap. NOT THE BEST QUALITY PAN. Do I dare keep this pan? Not sure yet

Mucho esfuerzo para mantener antiadherente
Es un excelente utensilio, pero si tienes prisa o prefieres no dedicar mucho tiempo a mantenerlo antiadherente, hay otras opciones, aunque algunos las consideran menos sanas.
