Good size and quality for home composting

Got into composting this season and needed a way to store kitchen scraps until I could throw them outside into the big composter. It's a nice size to hold the leftovers after you prep vegetables and you could probably get several days' worth in here (depending on much vegetables you prep). Good lid that closes tight but doesn't seal (if that matters to you). Lid can be folded back so it stays open for cleaning or when you are dumping the scraps. It's easy enough to clean. I mostly just rinse it with hot water but have thrown it into the dishwasher. The handle is also nice for carrying when you have to take it outside.

Great Compost Bin for Kitchen

I bought the OXO smaller version first because I was afraid if I filled up a bigger one it would smell. But on big cooking days, I was having to take it outside and empty it 2 or 3 times. So I went ahead and got the bigger one and I love it. There has been no odor problem and I only have to empty it every other day. I'm using a biodegradable bag in it and it holds quite a bit more than the smaller version, so not so many trips outside to empty it. I also like the larger size because we can put paper plates in it easily whereas the smaller one would not handle a paper plate without folding it, and then it would fill up the bin.

It works, and I like the size of this container.

I have a compost bin in my backyard. This bucket serve as a temporary storage on my kitchen counter for my orange peels, corn silk, kinda things. I know... I know... "Why you put those in your compost!? Those are all good for you" Well... true, I know that. But... (another story, another night. Going back to the review for this bucket) :-) Bottom line, I like this bucket. It looks nice and cute on my kitchen counter :-)

Easy to use

Just starting to compost. I ordered this on a recommendation from America's Test Kitchen. It was super-easy to set up: just remove top, place compostable bag with edges out from rim, replace top to hold the bag in place and open. The top stays open if you need both hands to work with the composting additions, then is easy to close. It is large enough to hold several days scraps for our family of 2. The one time liquid leaked through the bag, I used the carry handle to take the bin without the top to my compost heap. After I dumped it, it rinsed out with no problem, and was ready to reuse. Couldn't be easier.

Back to composting!

This is big enough to hold a couple or few days of scraps and small enough to not get stinky between taking it out. We use biodegradable bags. This works great for us, and we are amazed how much we are not putting in the garbage.

Good style

Living in CA, we had to start recycling our organics. Ugh! This one fits under the sink very well. I ordered large bags and they fit over the sides and can be tied up when removing. I keep a spare roll at the bottom of the can so when I take one bag out, the next is ready to use. The removable rim keeps the bags in place.

Excellent bin

I was previously using a stainless can with a filtered lid. Changing the filter was a pain and food got caught in the filter. I also was using a so-called biodegradable liner bag which leaked and did not decompose. This one is much easier to use and keep clean. I bought a second one for when the first is getting emptied and cleaned.

Nice bin

Bought this to start collecting compost and it does the trick. It holds the compost bag in place nicely and holds a. deceptively good amount of food waste despite its size. Good purchase so far.

Fabulous compost container

Love that it is so easy to clean and it looks great on the counter. I tried several and by far this one is the best out there. Lots of room for compost, no smell, easy to clean and looks good. Definitely worth it.

Great for compost

I was tired of using a coffee can to collect compost articles in the kitchen. The lid always got so dirty. The plastic on the inside never got clean. But this compost container has an easy to open lid and cleans extremely well after emptying. Looks great on the counter!

Expensive, but does look good quality

Very smart and tidy looking. Seems nice and sturdy. Keeps any smells in. If you’re happy to spend a bit extra, it’s much better than the normal little caddy that the council gives. Easy to clean and a good size.

Just right for a small counter

We needed something on the small side because we have very limited counter space and no room under the sink for a food waste bin. This OXO is just the right size. It looks fine. You will appreciate the easy flip lid when you have a handful of scraps to drop in. We use a compostable liner bag because our community bin is out in the parking lot so I cannot comment on whether scraps will stain the OXO. It is easy to clean. Capacity is certainly adequate for two adults who consume lots of fruit and vegetables. We are very happy with our purchase. I spent a lot of time looking in retail outlets and online before I settled on the OXO. Very glad we purchased this.
