Too deep for cat, would work well for dog

Our cat sometimes “scarfs n barfs” her dry food breakfast, aka she eats it fast then throws up shortly afterwards. This bowl seemed like a great solution - I got the small pink zig-zag shape. I learned it’s marketed for dogs for a reason - I think the zig zags were just a bit too deep for a cat to reach the food. Ours was able to paw out a single kibble at a time from the side of the bowl and eat it off the floor, which also dragged the bowl around a bit (despite the non-slip bottom). We wanted to slow her down, but maybe not that much! We’ll be returning and looking for one that’s more shallow. Otherwise the bowl seemed solid and sturdy (wish it was ceramic or stainless steel though), it’s just not for our cat! Would probably work fine for a small dog.

Slowed down our piggie samoyed

One of our samoyeds was supposedly a finicky eater, which didn't jive with any of our past experiences with the breed. When we first got her, she was indeed reticent about eating for a couple of days, and then she got over herself. She decided she really liked her food, and she started eating way too fast, which made her throw it back up half the time. We got this bowl as an experiment, and it works great. She still tries to eat like a maniac, but the bowl slows her down and makes her work for it. She hasn't had any post-meal indiscretions since we got the bowl. As for cleaning it, well, she does most of that work. It's easy to simply rinse it off afterward.

Whoa Nelly!

A typical 5 second meal took 7 minutes! Poor doggo was confused and frustrated at first. 2nd meal using the slow feeder, doggo took a stand. He wasn't going to have it and he tested me telling him multiple times to go eat. He walked away, he whined, he moped. 1 hour morning walk and 3 hours of self deprivation later, he relented and ate it all up. It took him a minute to get used to the idea of slowing down his eating...but it's either that or go hungry. Pro: - easy packaging, didn't have to fight to get it out, not a lot of it neither - non slip footing on the base works well keeping the bowl in place when he's maneuvering around the obstacles - large capacity, 8oz of kibble fits with plenty more space for a bigger meal - surface is smooth and curvaceous, nothing to catch his tongue on - varying depth to bottom of bowl, gives him an extra challenge depending on what part of the bowl he's working on Con: - don't have a dishwasher, so washing it can be challenging - price could be better

Great For Mental Exercise

I absolutely love this bowl. Perfect bowl for my French bulldog. I’ve been freezing all of my dog’s meals in it and I have her lick it in her kennel. It takes her at least 30 min each time to finish her meals, where as before she would practically inhale her kibble without even chewing it. I add a small spoonful of puppy-safe peanut butter or plain greek yogurt and spread it around the bowl either before or after adding her kibble to give my dog variety in what she’s licking. Now I can spend that 30 min doing what I need to do while my puppy enjoys her meals. Win win!

We LOVE this bowl!!

This slow feeder is a life savor for my doodle. It's perfect size for his meals and slows him down during his meals. Great quality. Now all they need to come up with is a bush deep enough to help wash the crevices of the bowl. For now running hot water seems to help clean it well. Definitely clean immediately after each use. Do not let food stay on it. Otherwise it's difficult to wash. Maybe use a bottle cleaner.

Phenomenal!

I have to report, black lab, 5 months old, went from eating her puppy chow (dry) in under 90 seconds to almost 15 minutes with this incredible food dish, wagging her tail the entire time! Looks to be very well built, and, as long as you always use dry food, cleanup easy, washing, when necessary, a mere quick rinse in warm/hot water. I was also impressed that, on a tile floor, it stayed right in place! Highly recommend!!

One of the Best Slow-Feed Bowls Out There!

I purchased the purple slow-feed bowl a few months back for my food inhaler. Usually, she’d eat her food in under 30 seconds. Now, it’s 2-3 minutes. Over time, I believe she’s gotten a bit better at figuring it out, but it still works well. The no-slip bottom works fairly well. I’m able to slide it easily if I put enough force into it, but it doesn’t move too much when my dog is eating out of it. I’d recommend putting double-sided tape at the bottom for those with bowl-topplers. The bowl is pretty easy to clean, but with so many nooks and crannies, it’s easy to miss a few spots. I let mines soak while I’m eating breakfast or dinner, and then wash them out with a handle brush. It’s important that you wash this bowl at least once a day, as plastic gathers bacteria a lot easier than stainless steel. In the time that I’ve had this bowl, my dog has managed to put a few scratches on this bowl. However, there aren’t any major cracks. My girl isn’t much of a chewer, though, so I’m not sure how this would stand up to a puppy. Storing this away from your dog after they’re done eating would prevent most damage. Overall, I recommend this product for those with food-inhalers! I love this bowl and use it daily with my dog.

Pour les chats qui mangent trop vite

Pratique pour notre minette qui a décidé de gober sans mâcher ses croquettes (et de les vomir ensuite...). Depuis qu'on a acheté cette petite gamelle, plus aucun soucis, elle mange tranquillement et notre sol se porte bien bien. Elle fait vraiment l'effort de chercher les croquettes alors qu'on ne l'a jamais habitué à ca ( elle a 2 ans). Je recommande ce petit investissement si vous avez un chat glouton, c'est tellement mieux pour lui... Si vous trouvez mon commentaire utile, n'hésitez pas à l'indiquer (:

I like my new biscuit bowl ????

My name is Hector. I am a puppy Rhodesian Ridgeback. My mum and dad bought this for me as I eat really quick and then burped and farted in their faces. They put my biscuits in it and it’s good fun chasing the biscuits around. But I can’t eat my din dins in 10 seconds any more. It takes me about 5 minutes now and that means that mum and dad don’t have to suffer my wind and I like my biscuits better. I have tried turning it over with my big paws but that doesn’t work. Mum and dad like the bowl as it is easy to clean and it keeps me happy.

Appears to be a clone not genuine Outward Hound item

This item appears to be a cheap clone. There are no "Outward Hound" markings on the base or on the side, and no patent number, all present on a genuine Outward Hound fun feeder i already have. The plastic is inferior, lightweight and the rubbery non slip section all round the base is also missing on both the ones i have received from Amazon so they slide all over the place. I sent the first one back because of the missing non slip bit. got sent a replacement just the same but with 4 little bits of rubber for me to stick on feet! I then looked at it more closely and noticed the other differences.The plastic looks like it would splinter if a dog picked it up and dropped it. The one I bought elsewhere is tough, dishwasher safe (again markings on the bottom not present on these two) and has a nice chunky solid feel to it. Definitely one to buy elsewhere and make sure you get the genuine article.

Best slow feeder we've had

The media could not be loaded. This bowl is literally a life saver for my dog. Unfortunately my dog eats really really fast, we have tried several things to slow him down and all been unsuccessful. Previous slow feeders haven't lasted as Bailey hit them with his paw and flipped them over in frustration. The vet encouraged us to scatter his food to try slow him but in recent weeks this too hasn't worked and Bailey has nearly chocked on his food, struggling to get breathe on a couple of occasions. I had been looking for this slow feeder for a while as our last dog had it and it worked really well for him although for different reasons. I'm so happy that I finally found it although to be honest I wasn't feeling hopeful it would work. It feels lighter than our last one but it has worked perfectly for us and Bailey these last couple of days ???? it continues. I think because it is larger and not too deep ( however it is deep enough) he can't flip it over. I knocked a star off for easiness to clean but thats simply because of its shaped pattern inside but a good price to pay for a healthy dog and ease of mind. 100% recommend this product.
