Work Great
I am organizing the many instruction manuals and warranties, etc. that accumulate into a notebook. I could not get anything punched with my small compacity hole punch. This punch works really well and goes through the manuals well. The design gives enough leverage to make it easy to to punch through the multiple layers of paper.

Let Me Save You Some Time & Compaire A Few.
It is hard to talk about 3 hole punches with out comparing Apples to Apples. Only you know what kind of use you are going to put one of these through. In this review I assume you are looking for a 40+ (20 lb page) capacity 3 hole punch, and you are a prime member. If you already know that you need more or less capacity stop reading and go look elsewhere. This Officemate is the least expensive 3 hole punch of any in the 40+ page class (At the time of this writing 8/13). Here is a list of links from lowest price to highest (Not an exhaustive list, just some of my top picks): Officemate Deluxe 3-Hole Punch, Heavy Duty, with Chip Drawer, 45 Sheet Capacity (90100) $33.53 CARL 63040 40-Sheet capacity hc-340 heavy-duty 3-hole steel punch, 9/32 dia., silver $34.91 Swingline A7074440 Heavy-duty 3-Hole Paper Punch, T-Handle, 40 sheet Capacity, 9/32 Inch Diameter Holes, Black $39.75 Master Adjustable 40-Sheet 3-Hole Punches with Power Handle, Black (MAT1340PB) $73.42 Swingline Medium Duty Electric Paper Punch (9800350A) $244.95 Ok, so why pay more? Short answer: Features. Which one is best? That is up to you and what you are doing with the product. The Officemate Deluxe and CARL 63040 are very similar to the Officemate I purchased. The CARL has super reviews, about 50, almost all 5 stars. The OM Deluxe has 45 capacity, a chip drawer, some other cool features, but only 6 mixed reviews. It may be a winner, it does look very nice. Moving on the the Swingline A7074440 and the Master, these simply offers up to 7 holes. This might be very important to somebody who uses those types of notebooks. Finally, we have the fancy electric Swingline! If budget is not an issue for you, this may be a consideration. It will save you effort and has a 50 sheet capacity. Frankly, it seems unnecessary to me, but you get to make the call! So, I hope that I have given you some good information on what else is out there. I am a law student, so for my use, which is a lot, I like what I got. I wanted the lowest price and something that would work well for school. This hole punch works very well for me. I have found it to be sharp and easy to use. It has never jammed on me. I use it all the time and highly recommend for light office or home use.

For $26.03 this was the best value on Amazon
I had an old supposedly 8-12 sheet 3 hole punch, and had just printed out a 628 page manual for an Ethernet switch (the print was duplex, and the number of total sheets was only over 300). After starting, it occurred to me I was only getting about 5-8 sheets cut at a time, due in part to leverage, stability, fatigue and growing dullness of the inexpensive punch. After about half my book was punched, the remainder was set aside and taken in to my local school secretary to see if there was an easier solution. My school secretary easily punched the remainder of my book in a few minutes using a 20 sheet, heavy duty paper punch. As it is likely my need to print will continue for a while, it seemed worthwhile to investigate purchase of a better hole punching device. After searching on google shopping, and here at Amazon, this device and a similar one were the leading contenders. This was the device ordered. Tonight in about 20 minutes, another 600 page manual was punched using the Officemate Heavy Duty 3 Hole Punch (90089) and there was no fatigue, no stability, no leverage or dullness issues. Assuming this punch works for a few years, and a few score of these large (to me) printed books, I'll be very satisfied. This unit is heavy, and largish, but the weight and size permit easy punching of 20 sheets with relatively little effort. The value for the quality seems very good to me at this time. If this punch has problems in the future, my review will be updated to reflect any issues encountered. I compared the holes punched with my old 8-12 sheet punch, with the punch my school secretary used and with holes punched into Staples 8 x 10 1/2 loose leaf paper. The holes are slightly larger than the school secretary punch, but are equally spaced compared to all the punches. Each of the punches has the exact same spacing between holes and from center of hole to edge of paper. This hole punch conforms to standard loose leaf paper formats. My observation of this fact was first hand. For now, thanks yet again Amazon.

I love it!
We homeschool, and I print my kids student journals at home, so close to 500 pages every month or so. I was using a standard hole punch, but it got real old real quick. I bought this one to save myself some time, and I literally hole punched nearly 500 pages in less than 20 minutes. I wish I had bought it sooner!

For the occasional heavy duty job
I'm a writer and once a year or so I print up a bunch of copies of a draft of a book for various people to look at. This punch is well designed for that task. It easily punches through 30 pages at a crack. The padded handle is a nice touch, as is the locking mechanism to keep the arm down for storage. It all works. But looking at the overall construction of the machine, I have my doubts that it would work well for continuous heavy duty jobs. The quality of the metal is just so-so. The pieces are held together with cheap lock rings. If you're an occasional user like me, I'd give this a thumbs up. If you're going to use a hole punch many times a week, I'd go to the local copy shop and see what brand of hole punch they have next to their machines and buy it. It will likely cost more than this one. But it will be more robust.

Strong and Easy
This is the best 3 hold punch I have ever used. What would normally become a major chore become very easy. Because this has a pad on top, punching holes in multiple sets of paper did not wear me out. This 3 hold punch also allows you to "lock" it into a close position so it is flat on the top for easy storage. Only complaint, if I had one concerns the fact it does not come with a peg to hold the paper size ruler in place. I fixed it with a binder clip so it was not a big issue for me.
