Looks fun, but kids and even adults will have trouble getting the balls to go
You have to hit the balls so incredibly hard with the very lightweight mallet to get them to go through the rubber nubs and go down the ramps. No toddler is going to be able to do it, and when adults do it they have to hit the balls so hard with the mallet that it makes a super loud cracking sound. My kid just puts the ball in from the side instead.

Good toy!
My daughter is obsessed with it however her first day using it she was beating the balls through and some of the wood chipped off the side. Not noticeable but I still had to get it off so she wouldn't stab herself with it.

Your kid will love it!
This easily became my 10 month old’s favorite toy. The rubber rings were pretty rigid in the beginning, which were appreciated! It just made it difficult for a baby to wack the ball down. After many many uses the rings have some more give. I think this toy will last quite some time ????????

Fun Toy with a few Oversights
This is a wonderful toy for hours of fun for both kids and adults alike. When my son got this toy last Christmas at eighteen months old, he sat with his uncle in front of the tree and played for a good half hour straight. What we realized really quickly, though, was that our son also liked using the hammer to hit other things, and people. The hammer quickly became a banned toy and has been stored high out of a reach until a few months ago, when my son, now two, somehow found it. At two, he still can't be trusted with such a weapon, just ask his sister. We had to remove and hide it while he was otherwise distracted so that he can never uncover it again. So definitely know your target when you give this gift. On a good note, this toy is not useless without the mallet. A good firm slap on the ball sends them tumbling through the tower with a pleasing wood on wood sound, which may be annoying to some, but I find it soothing. The balls are easily lost and can be turned into projectiles if one isn't careful. Also, even with short term mallet use, the balls are dinged up and so is the top of the tower. I can't imagine what they would look like with long term use. There is also a plastic ring around each circle where the balls rest so you can "pound" them, these plastic rings seem to wear out over time. This makes the ball rest deeper in the hole and will probably become useless at holding the ball at all in a few years. I guess time will tell. Also, this is an occasional play toy for my son, it is not one of the toys in constant rotation, so the wear is not from constant use. Otherwise, it is a very entertaining toy, especially for a younger audience, but just as likely to captivate the adults.

It is a joy to watch my 16-month-old play with this toy!
We've had this toy in our home exactly 1 day, and it has already seen more attention from my 16-month-old son than most of his other toys. He took to it IMMEDIATELY. It is so exciting for me to watch him play with it, because he rarely plays with toys so interactively and appropriately. He finds the balls and puts them back in the holes by himself. He even has a little battle-cry that he yells while hammering, and then when they drop he says "ohhh yeah" or "oooooh". I love watching him play with it. The construction seems just about perfect to me--the balls aren't too difficult or too easy to hammer through the holes. Sometimes they roll a little far away but most of the time, especially when he's on the rug, they collect very nearby and it's easy (and part of the playing) for him to find them and put them in himself. If my son wasn't so happy with this toy, I would have probably given it 3 stars. The top is already nicked and damaged from the mallet, though that isn't terribly surprising since he is banging on it repeatedly. I feel like if the edges of the mallet were a little more rounded, the problem might be lessened. Also, one of my PET PEEVES about products is when there are stickers or packaging adhesive directly on the product that is difficult to remove. This product has a giant sticker on the bottom that is going to take me forever to get off, I can tell, because I've started to peel and gotten very little removed. For now I'm ignoring it because it's on the bottom. There was also a bit of adhesive holding some paper packaging to the outside that hasn't come cleanly off. This may not bother you, but it's just one of those little things that I take issue with.

This is a hit with ALL
We had two of these in our church nursery when I volunteered few years ago. It was my "go to" toy when we had a cranky toddler or new child who was nervous about staying without mom and dad. Our room had ages 1-3....Hundreds of kids came through the room over the years and they literally all LOVED THIS. I just purchased for my 1 year old for his birthday and he immediately loved it.... so did ALL his older cousins (ages 18 months through age 5). There is something magical about this toy-- the sound the balls make on the maze, the colors, something! In the nursery we used it without the hammer (was easier to allow more than one to play at once and while the hammer is not dangerous its best to keep "rough" toys away from groups who aren't used to each other). I also took the hammer away for now because my nephews are a bit rough and I didn't want someone smashing their finger or hurting the baby.

Great product, not fantastic quality control
This toy is very fun and attractive. However, there are a few cons: - Noise: we expected it to be loud, but not nearly as loud as it is. Highly recommend adding felt to the ends of the hammer if you don't want your neighbors to resent you. - Ball size: the balls are slightly different sizes in the one we received. The green ball fits well in the hole and can be hammered through with a reasonable amount of effort. The other balls require a LOT of force to get them through the hole. We'll probably just give it to our little one with the green ball to start and then add the other balls when she's bigger.

Fun, but needs vaseline
The media could not be loaded. It's a great toy with one big flaw. The holes that the balls drop through have plastic rubber that are way too grippy. My 17 month toddler cannot get the balls through herself and gets discouraged and frustrated. But if you put vaseline on the rubber bits, it works much better for a little while. I have considered cutting part of the rubber off to make it permanently easier, but I'm afraid to ruin it. Anyway, it's really fun if you somehow adapt the rubber pieces to let the balls through with reasonable resistance. Which I did for the video attached. Once the ball drop through they make a great sound as they hit each piece of wood. That part is really fun. It’s a very sturdy construction. I don’t find the mallet it comes with very useful to the toy. It makes putting the balls through very difficult for my toddler.
