It doesn't put pressure where it's needed.

I tore my rotater cuff many long ago and far away (parents, find out what gymnastics really does to your little one's body before you start chasing medals.) I can not take NSADs for unrelated reasons, and I hoped for some pain relief, something that didn't involve my husband wrapping me in an elastic bandage. Well, I'm back to the bandage, and this gadget is making the rounds of my friends to try and find out if it helps anyone. Any one at all.

Amazing Product

I had to get a brace for my shoulder and my orthopaedic surgeons office only gave me a crappy and uncomfortable one, asked the surgeon what brand he recommends and works best and he said the McDavid brace is what I really need and insurance won't cover that. So once home I came on and found the exact brace he told me he'd prefer I wore as I would get more therapudic use from it, plus it would help further injury and help healing times with the increased support than the cheap ones insurance covers. I love it and wear this about 17hrs in a 24hr period and haven't had any problems with sweating or overheating. It comfortable and compresses in the needed spots and is supportive were required and makes a difference on being able to use my right arm again a bit more from no use at all. It's a must buy!

Chafes like crazy

I can't leave a 3 1/2 review so I'm being generous here. Now, this is not a terrible brace by any means as it holds up well when wearing it, but the sling has a bad habit of riding up underneath my armpit and unles you're wearing a guinea tee or some type of tank top as an undershirt, the velcro pads on the sling will rub against your skin which is also annoying. If those designs change, this can be on it's way to a 5 star

Too big in shoulder - not for slim women

Seems like it would work really well, but the fit was weird and was too big for me. It fit well through the bicep and across the chest but the shoulder part was HUGE, leaving it loose where I needed the support the most. Having to return it because it doesn’t fit. I’m 5’4” 120 pounds

The best u will get but...

The price is steep so I wanted it to be perfect. It does offer compression and does stay in place, but the cross strap needs some cushioning which it doesn't have. I tried placing a hand towel under it but who can sleep like that? Of the like items, I will say this is probably as good as it will get. I could have used a hand adjusting. I may make a cover or wear it over a padded vest?? This same item is carried by the big sporting goods stores. Know that it will fit right or left shoulders in one item which is a bonus.

The material is better with this shoulder support

Bought this product along with the McDavid "Light Shoulder" wrap to try both of them out. The material is better with this shoulder support, but the McDavid "Light" shoulder support blows this thing away with the amount of features you have to customize the fit around the bicep, and two way adjustment on the shoulder. I use the McDavid "light" support playing basketball and golf. This higher priced McDavid shoulder brace has been tossed in the trash. Don't waste your money on this one for the price. It's "ok" but not better than the McDavid light support.

fits well on shoulder and bicep, plus the material is a much welcome change from neoprene which can cause excessive sweating. but i can only give 3 stars because the strap that goes around the chest and back is way too thin and flimsy. the strap constantly gets rolled/twisted up because it is so thin and becomes very uncomfortable and difficult to adjust. the strap needs to be wider to solve the problem, or possibly have some sort of plastic or other firm material attached to/inside it to act as a spine so that it doesn't roll up and get twisted under the arm.

Good brace, bad straps

The brace is generally good. It fits well and doesn't get as hot as the neoprene brace I had before. The straps that attach to the brace itself are very poor quality. They are flimsy and bunched up immediately when putting it on the first time causing a lump that sits right in the middle of your back

Unwearable - strap made from sandpaper

i don't think anyone at McDavid design team owns the skin covering their bodies but if they do they definitely think their customers don't. The strap is made from such a coarse fabric that just trying it on gave me a rash, I can't imagine wearing it for a workout where it would be actively rubbing my skin. I think I would require a skin graft after that.
