So well knitted (hand knitted) out of real wool yarn!

This is the second sweater I have purchased from this company as they are made of real wool yarn and the sweaters are knit by indigenous people in South America, so this is a win-win. I live in Colorado, USA, so we do get cold and snowy days. I am thrilled that this sweater is longer to cover her belly, though if I had a male, it is not too long that it would cover his penis (so he can mark!!). I want wool yarn as the 'cute' acrylic yarn sweaters available in most stores are just cute--they are not warm! My dog is 42 pounds, deep-chested female poodle and I ordered an extra large. Fits well. It is wool yarn, so follow the care instructions.

This is my dog Atticus' FAVORITE SWEATER EVER!

My dog Atticus totally LOVES the Chilly Dog sweaters. Great sweaters, well made, hand-knit, all wool as far as we've purchased. I ordered three new Chilly Dog sweaters so my dog would be ready for Autumn. He has a thin fur coat of his own so he gets cold a lot -- definitely a Chilly Dog. When it got cold enough here in Virginia, I decided to put this gorgeous bright red one on Atticus. It's thick and warm but slightly stretchy. He has a wide chest so it's hard to find dog clothing for him. These Chilly Dog sweaters tend to be a bit long but that's ok as long as they fit across his chest and around his abdomen and can cover his bottom when he's lying down. So cut to the chase -- he refused to let me take this sweater off him once it was on. Usually he will let me remove his dog clothing especially if it's rainy outside and we need to switch him over to a raincoat. Well, forget that, every time I tried to take this sweater off, he would wiggle away from me and run away. Once, I was able to take it off to check to be sure it hadn't become unraveled (it hadn't). While I was looking at the sweater, Atticus came back over and put his head the wrong way into the sweater's neck and tried to wiggle into the sweater. He never does that! So back on went the sweater. A second time, with help from Hubby, I was able to remove this sweater to launder it and then once it was dry, Atticus wanted the sweater back on immediately. Let's just say the other two new sweaters and his first Chilly Dog sweater from two years ago MIGHT get some use this Winter. I think he's totally attached to this red one though. My dog Atticus gives FIVE STARS to this beautiful red sweater!!! And so do I.

Looks better then I could have imagined

I am actually really impressed by this doggy sweater. It’s has beautiful designs woven in, the color is very vibrant, it’s thick and warm, and fits perfectly. I have a Standard Poodle about 45 lbs and I ordered her the XL. I would highly recommend this sweater to others for their pups. ❤️

Thick and warm

I bought two of these for my two dogs. Very thick and warm for real cold days. Styled like a fisherman's sweater which is a thick knit. My dogs wear their sweater under a thin nylon coat because they run through bushes off-leash and the coat keeps the sweater from being snagged. This sweater is thick and makes the outer shell snug so I probably should have bought a different style from the same manufacturer. So if this is a layer under a harness or other protective item, consider if the outer layer will still fit or if you'd be better off with a different wool style. The wool is a much better option than nylon/poly sweaters available in pet stores - warmer and breathes. Handmade and sizing is inconsistent as my two sweaters in the same size were very different in actual size. Unless your dog is elderly or ill, this is definitely an outdoor cold-weather sweater (it was 19 and snowing when my dogs walked in their sweaters this morning). I would not suggest using it in a heated house or you could over-heat most dogs. Excellent product and unusual to find a dog sweater in a 100% wool fabric.

Handsome but stretches.

Short haired dogs like Dobermans will cause the sweater to walk backwards because of the way their fur is. Great fit and look out of the package, but over time will stretch quite a bit. Otherwise a very nice item but like lots of dog garments… it lasted a couple weeks.

Small too big for 11.5 pound yorkie but great quality

I love this sweater but I knew it was too big the minute I pulled it out of the box. I followed instructions and bought a size small based on weight. I have an 11.5 lb. yorkie. I was hoping to wash it so it would shrink a bit but after reading reviews, I'm going to return it and reorder in an XS as I do want this sweater for my dog and don't want to risk washing it and still not fit him. I read a lot of reviews before I bought this one which is why I was willing to spend more for this than the cheapos like the one he's wearing now which is paper thin compared to this sweater. This appears to be very good quality. I will have to wait until I get the XS to review it after using for some time.

excellent quality, good design

I found one of these sweaters at my local thrift store for my larger dog, 34 pounds, and was sorry to not have one for the smaller one, a chihuahua who really was the one who needed it. I was thrilled to find that Amazon sold the identical sweater in the smaller size and ordered a grey one to match the thrift store find immediately. it fits him, 7.3 pounds, perfectly. I then saw the red one available and bought it. they are 100% wool so will shrink if not washed carefully but it's worth it for the warmth, even when damp. I wash them by hand and lay flat to dry, not big deal. It pleased me to know they were hand made by Quechan Indian Artisans in South America according to Fair Trade guidelines. Top that with organic wool and all natural plant dyes and it's a feel good purchase. It's cut high enough on the underside for boy dogs which has been a problem with a couple of sweaters I bought for him. That's a nuisance none of us wants. I would recommend this sweater to anyone who has a dog who gets chilly.

Substandard Chilly dog Sweater is a first...

This is the fourth Chillydogsweater I have bought - but the first from Amazon. The jumper is good quality, however whoever knitted this clearly didn’t do it properly, after two wears, it’s come undone in three places, it’s extremely disappointing, as I know the usually excellent standard of the company- as I can’t knit and wouldn’t know how to stitch it- it’s a complete waste of money- I wonder if this is an offshoot of the company ? Wouldn’t buy the brand from Amazon again...

Loose knit and stretched way out

Unfortunately was not happy with this product. I have several chilly dog sweaters and a coat. This item was way too big and stretched out so much after wearing once. I just tried washing and drying and didn’t do much. The knit was way too loose.

That is the most beautiful sweater I have received yet!!! My dog is a mixed breed and he is long and it fit perfect he is 43 pounds I have had many compliments on this sweater I totally recommend this chilly dog you are awesome I also have another sweater from you the work sock look it is great too

Beautiful Sweater

This sweater is a nice generous fit on my 14 pound puppy. The wool is a good weight and a beautiful vibrant red.
