How to fix leaks
I haven't used this mattress yet, but I have patched many leaks in this type of mattress. Linda B complained that, being deaf, she could not hear a pin hole leak. Linda, none of us can hear a pin hole leak! That's why we either put the mattress in a tub of water and look for bubbles, or apply a soap or detergent solution and watch for the leak to blow soap bubbles. There is a product made just for this purpose called Snoop; plumbers swear by it and say that its performance can't be duplicated. Put a pin in the hole to mark the location while you rinse and dry the mattress; it won't make the patch any less effective. Another way to find a leak is to moisten your hand and hold it near a suspected leak. You may then feel the leak as a cold spot on your hand as the air blows at the moisture. I use a general-purpose adhesive called Seal-All which you can purchase on Amazon. It sticks very well to vinyl, unlike many adhesives. No sheet vinyl patch material is needed for pinhole leaks, just the adhesive. E6000 adhesive, also on Amazon, says that it sticks to vinyl but I haven't tried it yet. It has the advantage that you can buy a pack of several small 5.3 mL tubes if you are an infrequent user, rather than buying a big tube which will go bad a while after being opened. You just have to decide, in your particular case, whether a big tube would be a waste because it goes bad or small tubes are wasteful because they cost more per ounce of glue. By the way, when you use glue in a tube always wipe the threads of the tube before you replace the cap so that the cap doesn't get glued on to the tube. This is very important and makes the unused glue remaining in the tube last much, much longer. You may want to use acetone (pure acetone nail polish remover) or another solvent to clean the threads or any spills. I'm not sure what the best solvent is to use for the 2 types of glue I mentioned, but my 2 guesses are acetone or lacquer thinner. In the case of a large tear that you could put a finger through, you can apply a patch from the inside and it will be more durable than a patch on the outside because it won't be fighting the air pressure, the air pressure will be pressing it towards the material. I have done this with duck tape and with Johnson & Johnson old-fashioned cloth first-aid tape, which I believe is a form of duck tape. You can apply another patch to the outside to help keep the edges of the material from snagging. Duck tape is tape made out of cotton duck fabric. For taping ducts you need something different.

Holds pressure. Material seems medium-duty. Somewhat awkward to inflate. Update: pillowing failing
The #1 thing in air mattresses (if you're read ANY reviews for any of them): this holds air pressure! I did not wait until it was needed to see if stretching of the material would lead to lower inflation pressure. I inflated fully, and topped off repeatedly regardless of how firm it felt. Over the course of over one week it held air just fine. We would prefer to not have the sculpted sleeping surface, that's personal preference. It does provide one plus, along with the "velour" type material coating: you don't feel like you're sliding around. You can find a position for elbows, knees, hips, Etc. to "dig in". With the Coleman inflation pump purchased at the same time, there is no way for the pump to hold itself to the mattress's port, you have to hold it there exerting pressure for a good seal. It's a bit too easy to push the valve in, closing off airflow so accomplishing nothing but heating up the pump. Considering you have to push in firmly to give a good seal for the pump, it's the same force for opposite goals - awkward but doable. I noticed some plastic odor upon first use that quickly faded away to no longer an issue. The one we received had no storage pouch or patch kit (queen size) - just the mattress and a printed instruction sheet (that's hardly necessary). If we ever need/decide to try patching a hole what to do? If it was the (vinyl?) portion maybe. I doubt I would try patching the "velour" surface - past history with other mattresses that never went well. So overall satisfied - it held air, we got good sleep while temp camping. UPDATE: The “pillowing” - where the recessed portion of the contours are, are failing. Where they originally are recessed, one by one those are now expanding into a bubble (three so far, one on one end (say by your feet) and two by the head). It appears the recessed areas on the top and bottom sides are pinched and joined inside the mattress. Those joins are detaching, causing a bubble instead. It’s not surprising, as this design would create stress points there (and the contouring doesn’t add to the comfort IMO). Now I simply wish ALL it would fail outright in this way so the airbed would once again have a consistent shape. It’s not horrible as is however. It still holds air, and otherwise is a usable, low-cost airbed sufficient for our needs. It’s been used about a dozen times, twice in a tent while summer camping, and indoors as a very temporary bed for unanticipated visitors to sleep. I changed from 5-stars to 3 for you, the review reader; I’m okay with it (4 stars), but if you desire the contours in the original shape, when it starts to pop out the recessed portions you’ll possibly be disappointed by that. For me, once/if it completes popping out all of the itself it seems it will end up as basically an inverse of the original contours (becoming contoured by bulges instead of recessed areas). If I get around to it I’ll post pics.

Hasn't popped yet!
It hasn't popped or had an internal rupture through 6 camping trips in various weather conditions. It's relatively lightweight, and for an air mattress it's hard to complain about comfort. It inflates quickly and easily with a motorized pump.

What it should be.
First, I inflated this for a couple days and left it in my garage because they say to inflate it for a bit to allow it to stretch ( it is now printed right on the mattress). Also, it stinks out of the package but after a couple days in the garage it was pretty much gone. I want to enjoy the fresh air of nature not nasty plastic fumes. I camped at one location for a week and only needed to add a little air twice, probably could have even only done once. I have never had an air mattress that held air that good before and I have had many airbeds, including other Coleman brand. Quite a few reviews stated leaks, so you never know; but, many people also let their pets walk on their air mattress. Be wary of borrowing an air mattress to someone with a dog or cat, at least if you want one that holds air when you get it back.

Loses air while you are sleeping
This mattress did not last. After a dozen uses it no longer held air and had to be inflated during the night. I would not recommend this product.

Incredible comfort, but hang on to the box and your receipt
I'm in constant pain, and the most comfortable bed I've ever tried is the Coleman Twin Quickbed with a memory foam mattress topper on top of it. The air mattress gives the perfect combination of give with firm (but not hard), and the memory topper evens out the inherent lumpiness of any air mattress, while also stopping the air mattress from sucking all the heat out of my body (something you don't notice much using a sleeping bag, but definitely feel through sheets!). The bit where you put air in has come a long way since air mattresses of my childhood. For one thing, it's large, and for another, it works in two steps. You extend the valve and put the pump nozzle in, then open the inner valve to add air. When you're done, you just leave the pump end in the valve and push, and voila, it's closed so no air come out when you remove the pump. Perfect inflation every time! The larger valve opening also means emptying goes much faster. Because I'm using this at home, all year long, I bought an electric Coleman air pump that plugs into the wall. When I saw in the instructions that you could only use if for 30 minutes at a time, I wasn't impressed. Then I actually used it. Wow! It inflated the mattress so quickly that you could do mattresses for the entire family and still have loads of time left on that 30 minute deadline! I 'top up' the mattress every couple of weeks for optimal comfort/pain reduction, and it literally takes less than a second with the electric pump. If I weren't so sensitive, I'm sure I could go quite a bit longer between top-ups. The only downside--and this seems to be an issue with every air mattress brand--is the mattress can develop a big lump of air where something inside breaks down. My first Quickbed lasted through 7 months of using it every night. I didn't pursue a replacement, as I felt like I'd already had very good value for my money. (It was the equivalent of going camping every weekend for 2 years.) My second one though, I only used for two months before a bulge appeared. Past the Amazon return period, but there's a big sheet of paper inside the box with a number for contacting Coleman. They asked me to send a photo of the bulge, of the box, and proof of the order and it's date. They processed this immediately, and are sending me a replacement Quickbed for free. Not being zippy Amazon delivery, it'll take about a month to get here, but I picked up a spare on sale. I know the Coleman Quickbed is something I'll buy repeatedly to use long term, and have a mattress that's always at the peak of comfort for a very small fraction of the cost of anything offering comparable comfort and pain management. If we have a really hot summer, I'm looking forward to using something thinner on top, and letting the air mattress help keep me cool at night. Given the comfort and the excellent customer service when there was a problem, I have no reservations in recommending the Coleman Quickbed. Just save the box, contact sheet, and your receipt. The warranty is good for a full year. (A note if you're planning to use this on your bed at home--I placed a second foam mattress topper UNDER the mattress to protect it from any abrasions that might be caused by contact with the bed frame.)

Slept on the ground....
I just returned from a camping trip. I had a great time in spite of this awful product leaving me sleeping on the ground three nights in a row from its inability to hold air. I would fill it at 9pm and by 4am 70% of the air had leaked out. This mattress was used three times! The sad reality is that the same thing happened to us last year with another Coleman air mattress. Never and I mean never again. I just bought a Lightspeed mattress and have tested it for five days and it still has the same firmness. Five days not five hours! Coleman makes an inferior product. Please bare this in mind when making your purchase decision especially if you want a good night's sleep.

Leaking ... :(
First time inflating it, after a couple of hours, it became very soft and we suspected it was leaking. There is a note in the package saying that leakage / softness may be observed after the initial inflation, and that is a result of the bed's material being stretched to its full size. We inflated it again on the next day and the day after, unless the bed can be stretched infinitely, it soft down after few hours every time we inflated it. I'm asking for a replacement.

Very comfortable, like sleeping on a cloud.
This is my permanent mattress. I have been in constant pain all my life. i have pain in my back, left hip and legs. My spine is shaped like a ltter "J". I keep it the tiniest bit underinflated and it is like sleeping on a cloud. I'm enjoying the most comfortable sleep I've ever had. It's even more comfortable than sleeping on a high end mattress at a high end hotel during a work trip. I use a small, portable hand pump to adjust the inflation level when it is inflated to add a little air without too much escaping. I bought the Lucid Premium Hypoallergenic 100-Percent Waterproof Mattress Protector in Twin XL to keep the airbed clean and protected and it's a perfect fit.
