Perfect fit for my barrel chested pup

Got a large for my 75 lb lab-GSP mix. It feels like he was the model for this. Perfect fit. It's pretty easy to put on for me with the snap on buckles. Love that there's no velcro fasteners that usually gets filled with fur. Haven't used in very windy conditions but it looks like it's gonna be good due to the stiff boning along the body. I have an RC Pets coat for him that I like, but the butt part gets blown up by the wind so that part gets wet anyway. Very well made. There is a chemical smell to.the material, but I think it should be fine once aired out.

Strange sizing

I really wanted this rain jacket to work. I’m really on the market for a rain jacket that my dog won’t pee on when outside. The quality of the jacket is great but the sizing is so strange. My dog needs a size between the small and the medium (small is way too small and covers half his body, the medium is way too big that he can’t wear it). Once they have more sizes, I’ll try it again.

Inconsistent sizing, bad design, awful color

We’re fans of Kurgo and have lots of gear from them, including other jackets. This one totally missed the mark. It’s longer than any other Medium size in Kurgo brand and looser in the chest. The straps do nothing for adjustment in the chest. The yellow color is so ugly and not as pictured. It’s more of a bile yellow rather than traditional raincoat yellow. The leash opening is in a totally horrible place and it causes the jacket to give a humpback look if the dog is wearing a harness and the leash pulls up because the leash hole is too far down from where harness attachment is. Presence of Velcro in the leash hole means that your leash will be destroyed. It’s a pain to return it - either pay an outrageous fee just for drop off or drive to a store. Overall, this was a waste of money and really missed the mark of other Kurgo products.

Keeps ‘em dry!

We have a whippet mix who HATES the rain. This rain jacket is so good that she will happily go out in the rain now!

Good but not great

I find the quality of the raincoat is pretty good, insofar as it's made of good materials that are water resistant, and I certainly like putting it on my dog, over him not wearing anything at all. I ordered the yellow color, and found that the color was a little dull compared to my expectations. I suppose in my mind, and from the pictures that I saw, I expected the yellow to be a little more brilliant than it is. That being said, it protects my dog's back when it rains, and keeps him fairly dry. I think if I'm being honest, the design sort of leaves a little to be desired. I wish the collared part would either extend a little higher, or perhaps even have an extension for something resembling a bit of a hood. I did find that in heavier rain, the water was able to get underneath the coat, via this oversight on the neck area. So, I do feel that it is a decent coat, but could use a few tweaks to the design to be much improved. Especially considering the price, I would have been happier with a more effective design. That being said, I do appreciate it as it is the first raincoat I have ever had for my dog, and I think having this protective barrier against heavy downpours is most certainly better than not having it at all. I'm not sure that I'd recommend it, but maybe with future design iterations, there might be more value there.

It fits my dog fine; She can't decide if she likes it or not.

My parents and I have adopted two Chihuhuas, one of which is diabetic and due to years of taking insulin injections, has lost her sight all but completely. Recently, this poor dog nearly got hit by a car. She was taken outside early morning, before her morning insulin shot, and while she's always been good at staying in the yard, she wandered off. I was at work at the time, but I was told that she was found a few houses up the road, in the road, squinting at the headlights of the car whose driver had spotted her and slowed to a stop. Aside from being very confused and cold, our poor old Chihuahua was fine. I've encouraged other household members to actively watch both dogs now, due to their age and this incident, but I'll be honest; even I'll hurry inside after taking both dogs out if it's cold. Enter this rain shell. It's reflective cover makes spotting this dog much easier, indoors or outdoors. I ordered an XS size, and it fit this particular Chihuahua right out of the bag; no adjustment needed. Our other Chihuahua is, shall we say, in excellent shape.....and that shape is round. A slight adjustment to this rain shell, and it will fit him just as well. Moving on to the second part of my review title, the blind Chihuahua can't decide if she likes this rain shell on her or not. Neither dog likes to wear clothing, and the blind dog would rather sleep in the vicinity of a space heater, and/or wrapped up in a blanket. It's a bit amusing to watch; it's as if she feels the shell is going to restrict her movement, but she seems to feel protected in it. That boosts her confidence when she's taken outside, being more willing to poke around before taking care of nature. And as already mentioned, having this shell on her makes her much easier to spot in low light conditions. Since she feels that the shell restricts her movement (it really doesn't), she's still quite chipper when it's removed once she's back inside the house. Overall, I'm really happy with the fit and finish of this rain shell. It's a good safety measure for our dog, whether someone is outside with her or not, I was pleased that the shell fit her properly right out of the bag, and while I've only put it on her during the snow and rainstorms we've had here recently, I feel it's well made and won't fall apart after a few uses.
