UPDATE: Months after I bought this product and went through 2 units before returning and leaving a 1 star review I was contacted by the CEO of the company over email and he asked if I would be willing to receive a product from the company free of charge in exchange for an unbiased review. I agreed and here is the review: The product connected to WiFi this time, with very little effort. That never happened once with the last product despite all the updates and attempts. The WiFi receiver is a little weak however and you need to be closer to the router than with other WiFi products. The temperature was accurate and the probes are sturdy. The unit itself is nice. No change from before on that, magnet on the back that is strong and the screen is easily readable. The app is a little basic but honestly it is fine. Shows a graph over time that needs to be updated and show more time and be review-able. Basically you get a window of the cooking time, but if the cooking time is long - over three hours - you cant see what the graph looks like in the past. So you basically just get a snapshot of what is happening. Also, at times the programmable names for the probes did not update on the units screen. Not a huge issue but still an issue. Here is the bottom line, this thing works and the last time I bought it, it did not work at all. It is affordable and for what you pay, the features or adequate. That being said, there is still some work to be done on the user interface. However, a company that is trying to make its product better and make it right with the customers is a good thing. And this company seems to be committed to fix its product. I appreciated the follow up from them and will use this product. Major improvement from the first time I bought this product. Thanks for letting me use the unit again! I had to order two of these devices. Neither one of them ever worked. You have to update the firmware as soon as you activate the device, and updating the firmware sees in crashed two devices. You never recovered from the update, and I never connected to Wi-Fi. Neither device ever loaded graphs, ever updated custom presets, and would constantly disconnect from my phone. The only connection available to them was Bluetooth which worked well when you were within 10 feet, but with multiple phones I tried connecting to and I couldn’t get further than about 10 feet away from either device that I ordered. Their customer service is very Difficult to go through, you can only communicate with them via email, and all of their responses are is short and seemingly non-caring as it can possibly be. It is obvious that many people are having problems with their products and there’s no way to call them. So you get one email from them a day that is typically 2 to 3 lines long that gives you steps that everybody would have already tried. Very non-user-friendly, nonexistent customer service, and a total waste of time on this product. Trust me do not buy this product. You will end up having to return it like I did multiple times.

Solid value for under $100
Second Updated review: GrillEye has rolled out their Cloud/Wifi update and like everything else with this probe, it works decently but not 100% consistently. It is, however, still the only Wifi multi-probe solution (as in, has more than two probes) on the market under $100. This is not the top of the line option, but it's a VERY versatile value prop. Done a few dozen cooks with this probe at this point and it's holding up well. There was a pretty big firmware update which has definitely improved some bugs, but has yet to roll out the long promised cloud monitoring feature. Still, customer service has insisted it is on its way "in the coming months." I'm also perplexed that there isn't a software option to reset the data, given how long it takes to load (especially if you're limited to bluetooth, like if you're on location) the multi-probe data with 24+ hours of accumulated information. There needs to be a reset option—customer service just told me to perform a firmware update every time as a workaround, but this thing can only update on wifi, so it's extremely limited if you're on bluetooth. I've now done dozens of smokes with this thermometer it usually works great. There are bugs with the app, namely they still haven't added a good way to just reset the data (perplexing; that should be done) and the software is truly poorly made, but it is hard to remember beautifully. App control is nice, graphs and data were great, multi-probe setup was critical for monitoring food temps and grate temp at the same time. I love that the probes are compatible with the iGrill probes — I was able to use iGrill probes a friend brought over to set up 4 probe monitoring on day one. The Apple Watch app, which should be an extremely cool feature, is still basically non-functional (and entirely non-functional on bluetooth, which makes no sense). I've only gotten it to work properly once. Monitoring temps from a smartwatch might be the best non-fitness use case I've seen for a smartwatch, so I wish it worked. Hopefully with a software update. Still a shockingly good value for under $100 when you realize that most wifi based BBQ probe solutions on the market prior to this are near $200, but they need to get their software bugs and features ironed out ASAP as more lower cost wifi compatible solutions hit the market.

Secret Santa Gift
This year the immediate family held a "Secret Santa". As always we'd pulled names and I got our son in law. He's a "grilling aficionado"! Our granddaughter gave him one a few years ago and it broke on him. So! Father in law comes to the rescue and gifts ???? him a new edition by the same brand! He loved it!!

Review from an early adopter and user
First of all wanted to say that I have owned this device since it first came out. Most of the negative reviews you see here are from the early days of product introduction. This is a company that came out with a very interesting product at an amazing price. I can't remember what the initial price was but nothing compared at that price range. Since day one the product did work but did have some limitations and glitches. The company eventually worked out all the bugs and introduced cloud connections which puts this product at another level. I use the product to control the temp on my EGG when smoking and another probe on whatever I'm smoking. This unit is really nice, lots of features and allows you to have up to 8 probes. The app works great and I can monitor my egg from anywhere. I have used it to smoke overnight, and when I have a busy day, as long as someone is home, I call and tell them to adjust the air damper based in my readings. Anyway wanted to give a review after all these years to share my positive experience with the product and I'm happy to report that this is now a great full featured product. Not easy for a startup company to introduce a competitive product. They seem to have worked tirelessly to improved the firmware on this product from day one and now offer an amazing set of features.

Zero for 2. Both units didn't work/ internal packaging damaged
ordered twice, both came with a damaged plastic mold that holds the unit suspended in the package. I suspect it had been dropped. Both units appear to have been opened, and returned. Both units had the smashed plastic internally, and both units would not pair with any of my 4 devices. At my wifi, or my friends. That's 0 for 2. Will be returning this one, and not trying my luck again.
