Fine waterproof GPS - Unfortunate design/build failure
This is the nicest waterproof and water usable (not touchscreen) GPS I could find at a reasonable price-point. Garmin supplied instructions for loading third-party maps would be nice - being able to load third-party maps is critical to the longevity of things like this. Unit is a bit old-timey in terms of screen draw speed when zooming in/out but it really doesn't matter. I did find a design or build flaw in this unit. I returned the first one I got and purchased another one but unfortunately both had the flaw. On the battery cover there are two tabs extending towards the USB port. These tabs do not sit flush to the unit when the battery cover is attached. This leaves a gap which will wick in water and allow the water to sit directly adjacent to the battery seal and the USB port seal. This won't immediately cause water to seep into the unit but when the seals start degrading a bit it will. You don't appear to be able to buy replacement battery cover seals or USB port plugs so when these units degrade a bit the unit will no longer be waterproof. I think I will eventually cut these tabs off as they serve no purpose. Interesting if you hold the battery cover against the GPS without tucking the bottom snap in place these tabs lay perfectly flush with the back of the GPS, It is as-if the person designing the unit or building the mold intended the tabs to be flush with the cover when it isn't attached properly because they didn't know how it was supposed to sit when it was attached. The entire battery cover issue seems minor but this unit being waterproof and water-usable are the entire reason I bought this instead of a more modern touch-screen unit. If the issue is fixed and I'm sent a properly fitting battery cover I would adjust my rating. Without the battery cover issue this would be a 5 star review.

The cell phone spoils me
This is a great GPS. But I have to wonder why my cell phone is so much faster, easier to scroll through, and a better, larger screen. What my cell phone does not have is a chip with maps of most of the country, nor room to download them all. Apps like Polaris Navigation, OnXoffroad, and others will make a cell phome a better GPS, but lacking the maps in memory. Cell phones will work without a cell connection if they have a map downloaded of the area you are in. The folks at Garmin should go out and compare their GPS to a cell phone, and just get with it and put out a better GPS.

NOT THE GPS IT WAS MADE TO REPLACE
This was to replace an excellent, simple, one-way Garmin Legend HCx, now discontinued. This Garmin 32X is about the same size, one-way communications device with "joystick", and with button controls. The hardware is different, and the app's icon GUI is atrocious, with bugs, erroneous user function deletions (you can't delete a SINGLE duplicate waypoint in a route, but are given the only option to delete them ALL! Or you can't click and move a waypoint wherever you want on the map? You can do these things in a Legend.), and many other issues that cannot be covered here, space, time and now my patience not allowing. The software is amateur written. The responsiveness is SO SLOW, with the same maps, waypoints, and routes as my old Legend. I won't go into the many technical failures of this GPS. It is enough to say, this Garmin GPS fails to provided a user with essential basic functionality, and guarantees hours of frustration fighting the many bugs, control omissions, and slowness. This should have never been released to the public in this failed form, which reflects upon Garmin. Look elsewhere, possibly not Garmin, and save yourself the frustration.

The Garmin eTrex 32x GPS is extremely accurate.
I have used different Garmin GPS for over 20 years. I bought this one to replace an eTrex 30. This GPS is very accurate in the woods. I have been geocaching since 2003 and that is my primary use for this GPS. All the information about the geocache is available on the GPS. It is supposed to hold up to 1000 geocaches. It does take a while to learn how to use the different screens. You use a tiny joystick to move through the choices on the screen. Buttons on the side take you back to the previous screen. The eTrex 32x is much more accurate that the app on your smart phone.

FINALLY i replaced my 15yr old GPS and this updates so much faster. I love it.
Used on a few hikes and road trips. its simple and easy to use. setting waypoints on the device with coords is a little annoying but once you get the hang of it its great. Updates from satelite constellations are so much faster than my 15 yr old model. I have zero regrets about buying this model.

Too many problems.....
When I spend that much money on something, I expect it to work. This worked great.....when it worked. One time, ok, maybe a glitch. Same problem several times, unit has issues. Lost the maps a couple times while in the woods. GPS working, geocaches still showing - no base map, just a gray screen. Wouldn't save tracks on a few different occasions. When it lost all the notes I had for geocaches I found that was the last straw - sending it back.

Really does take an hour to upload new maps
There are so many YouTube videos about this thing BECAUSE it is such a pain to use. uploading maps would repeatedly fail after 10 minutes.. After changing nothing, it started working the next day and hasn't failed again Yet. seems to do what I wanted it to do though.

Watched YOUTUBE and we are learning about the new GPS technology.
We went on YouTube and watched mini segments to understand the technology and applications of this new device. We are very satisfied with the device and its uses.

Very accurate when it comes to the maps so far
Had to replace my older model etrek. Got this one because of maps and options for equal billing (careful read all terms.. I payed in full asap). Too bad all my other accessories are not compatible because the basic ones are pricey.. 30$ for a clip. (Didn't come with a strap)

Buen equipo
