I really love this fitness watch
I have had an Apple Watch for years. I have never liked having my phone activity connected to my watch. I really only wanted it for the fitness piece. I decided to change to the Polar Unite and I am glad I did. First, I love the round face. I think it looks more contemporary. It is also very light weight. I don’t even notice I am wearing it. The tracking seems to be accurate. It records activity, exercise, heart rate, and sleep. The reason I didn’t give it a 5 star rating is because there are a couple of things that are mildly annoying. One is that it doesn’t automatically sync with the app on your phone. You need to manually sync it if you want to look at your results on your phone (and it is significantly easier to look at it on your phone than on your wrist.) Second, the watch strap is a bugger the first time you try to buckle it. The strap is light weight rubber and the holes that you need to attach the other side are very stiff. After you secure it a couple times it is fine. The strap also makes me sweaty under it. I need to see if they sell alternate straps.

Several QOL Issues with this Watch
I've done Garmin, I've done FITBIT. I want FITBIT's sleep tracking in a Garmin Watch, to be frank, mainly for the ability to use a heart rate chest strap. I've now tried POLAR. I may be wrong on the following, but after digging I've found; There is only one alarm on this watch. You cannot program it for specific days, only Everyday, Mon-Friday, Weekend. The battery drains very fast. Even charging it during the daily shower isn't enough to keep it going. You can export workouts to Strava, but you cannot import Workouts from Strava like you can with Fitbit. This is important to me because I have a Wahoo bike computer that I would like to pull to my Polar account, after exporting it to Strava. With Fitbit, I can pull that data from Strava to show that workout in Fitbits App. It doesn't input heart rate scored from my chest strap, however. Yet, my Fitbit Charge 3, for whatever reason compared to weight lifting or running, is almost spot on with the chest strap for heart rate on the bicycle. You cannot track your weight via the Polar App. You cannot input your weight from within the Polar App. On Apple, you hold your finger on the Polar App button and you can enter your weight. On the Polar website under Reports and Daily Activity, you can track your weight. Polar does not have a wifi scale in production that will log your weight for you. I have a Fitbit scale that uploads my weight, and I have to do nothing but step on the scale. There is apparently a third party program you can subscribe to for 2 dollars a month that will move your weight data from Fitbit into Polar's website. Again, this weight data can only be viewed from Polar's website. Sleep tracking is OK. This model is not capable of what is, I think called, Advanced Sleep Tracking. I miss my FitBit's ability to tell me of Apnea Attacks. This Polar will also think you are still asleep after you get out of bed to get a coffee and look at the inter net news before getting ready for work. It will add several minutes to "interruptions" for your sleep during this time and throw off the entire data package. You cannot edit your sleep time, at least from the app, maybe you can from the website but that is hardly worth the effort. Garmin never gets my sleep right. The Polar App has so much sleep data that it is perhaps too much data. I like how the numbers are large on the watch face, the Charge 3 is hard to read. Sometimes the Polar does not forward notifications from my phone. If that happens on the Charge 3, I just reboot the Charge 3. I haven't come up with a for sure way to make the Polar smart again. The face of the Polar has little in the way of customization. The Polar does not track steps, so much as "activity." You cannot tap the screen to turn the display on. You must either push the button or raise the watch. Raising the watch is almost flawless from the standing position, but while sitting, or if your arms are in front of you, typing this review for example, and you "raise the watch" it will not come on. I still haven't found what I'm looking for.

Great activity tracker for the price.
We've tried Fitbit and Garmin activity trackers and I'm much more pleased with the Polar. It tracks heart rate considerably better than the other ones in the same price range. Responds quicker to heart rate changes and more accurate. Specifically doing HIIT training. Overall it does a better job. It also has the nice feature of built in trackers for all the Les Mills programs that we use. The Polar is more about activity than simply counting steps. The Unite is the lower cost of their line and works well for general activity and sleep. We do several cardio and strength workouts, mountain bike and indoor rock climb. Does well with all of them.

ok but wanted better sharing with Strava and runkeeper
It functions well but it doesn't seem to work well with sharing with Strava and definitely does not work with runkeeper. It's 50/50 chance that a session will get shared with Strava. The main reason I got this was for a heart rate monitor and fitness tracker that worked with either if those two. Sometimes it works with strava and sometimes not. Sleep works ok but it doesn't always get my bed time right.

not great
i am kind of sorry for buying this watch. first of all, the strap is weird. its weird to get on and off as it is not designed like a typical watch band. the thing that bugs me the most is how often it needs to be recharged. at least twice a week for me. i do not find it user friendly and it uses kilocalories if you are looking to see how many calories you burned. it does not track my sleep most of the time. and i cant get it to notify my if i have gotten a text like the fitbit. i still believe it to be more accurate than a fitbit in terms of calories burned and the display on the watch is easy to see. the band is comfortable once you can learn to pop it on. on the whole, i do not recommend. i like that i can immediately see my heart rate on the display.

Touch screen not amazing, but reasonable quality for price
Found the battery life to be a little disappointing. The heart rate monitor seems ok but watch needs to be pretty tight to register heart rate properly. Sleep tracking feature seems pretty good, no problems with mobile app thus far.

Not as good as I expected
Heart rate tracking not the most accurate. Extremely delayed in sending notifications from your phone to the watch such as text messages. Wish it had the feature on it to help find your phone. Impressed by how many sports/activities are listed for tracking fitness

Amazing overall fitness watch for the price/category
Just perfect. Love it. Strap is terrible to put on though. Sleep tracking Fitness tracking Long battery life because no GPS and other useless sensor eating away at battery. Polar Flow is great to track your health (lowest heart rate and sleep etc). Idle alarm so you get off the desk. Light weight and small diameter so its not in the way.
