great machine but with some issues
we loved this machine, great coffee, good options to program and the milk foamer is easy to use, there are however some issues - firstly the drip pan fills up really fast with water even if there are only a couple of pucks in the hopper. Second in our case the top hinge broke during emptying and we had to return it after only two months. We would however buy a similar machine.

Super Convenient, Good Expresso, Simple (But Frequent) Upkeep
This super-automatic is a worthwhile quality-of-life upgrade for me. I previously had a Breville Barista Expresso Machine where I had to pull the expresso shots and froth the milk myself. It ended up sitting idle most days because I got too busy/lazy to manually make my expresso drinks and clean up. By contrast, this super-automatic makes it very easy to make a good expresso drink with - almost - just the press of a button. Expresso quality - 5 stars. Better than I could make myself on the Breville, and IMO better than Charbucks. I use Lavazza Gran Espresso beans. Cappucino quality - 4.5 stars. Nice separation of layers of steamed milk, expresso, and milk foam. The quality is consistent and the drink is nice and hot in the first few minutes. There is still room for improvement. The steamed milk could be hotter, so that the drink overall stays hot longer, and the milk foam on top could be finer (less airy) in texture. Maintenance - 4 stars - very low but almost daily upkeep. (1) Every three drinks or so, the outer and inner drip trays will need to be emptied and rinsed. (2) The milk carafe will need to be washed and refilled every three or four milk-based drinks. (3) The water reservoir will need to be refilled every four or five drinks. These are all simple and quick tasks, but it seems that one thing or another needs to be done almost every other drink. Still, very easy and quick compared to the Breville - and certainly compared to driving out to a cafe. (4) Weekly or biweekly (depending on how many drinks you make) the brew group needs to be taken out, rinsed thoroughly, and air dried, and traces of coffee grounds inside the chamber where the brew group sits need to be brushed out. Again, not complicated or difficult. I have not had my machine long enough to descale, but it doesn't sound bad either. Bottom line - the super convenience and good quality of expresso drinks at home with (almost) the push of a button and simple (almost daily) upkeep make this machine easy to recommend even for the premium price. Besides, it will likely pay for itself over time given the daily savings in $4-$5 cafe drinks, not to mention the drive and wait times. 4.5 stars (rounded up to 5) UPDATE: I've run this machine for nearly a year now, making 2-3 cups of cappuccino a day. All the above pluses and minuses still apply. I've done one descaling, which was simple and took about half an hour. Overall, this low-maintenance machine has consistently produced pretty good expresso in the unbeatable convenience of my home. It's more than paid for itself in the money and time saved, not to mention in the enjoyment of the expresso drinks themselves. I still highly recommend it.

Outstanding quality and taste, easy to use and maintain
Purchased this product about a year ago and have been highly impressed with the quality of the machine design and build. It is easy to use and the taste of every drink option is outstanding. Staying on track with the maintenance takes regular attention, but has been designed to make the process easy to accomplish. But, if you forget something along the way, the system alerts you through the digital screen on what action to take—very helpful. Love the external milk carafe for chilled storage and cleaning ease. The taste is by far better than any of the coffee shops my wife and I have used for so many years.

Why I Returned This & Bought a Jura
I wanted to love this machine, I really did! I’d seen a bunch of “Whole Latte Love” marketing videos saying it was better than Jura, and it DOES have some features I was really excited about. The low maintenance milk system is freaking genius, and works exactly the way it says it’s going to. And, Jura’s milk system is every bit as much of a PITA to clean as you are thinking it is, if you’ve done any kind of research here. Maybe more. Plus, I loved the fact that I could fit my travel mugs directly under the spout, and didn’t have to transfer the coffee’s crema to a taller cup. And, the Gaggia was beautiful and made delicious coffee. BUT. This machine is constantly asking you to do SOMETHING before you can make a darned cup of coffee. Often, 2-3 things. Whether it’s emptying a 1/4 full grounds container, or a slightly damp drip tray, or putting more water into its poorly designed, top-loading water container (which makes enough coffee for approximately one Hobbit, but whose cover manages to be tall enough that you can’t fill it without moving it out from under the cabinets), etc., etc., etc., ......you get the idea. This machine was higher maintenance than a Kardashian. I owned it for less than a week and was late for 3 meetings trying to get coffee out of the beast. So, I did the math and realized that I plan to drink regular coffee 90+% of the time, and only have milk drinks once in a while. My Jura so far has been insanely easy to deal with vs. this machine. I’ve had it the same amount of time as the Gaggia and I haven’t had to rinse or empty ANYTHING. I can wake up in the morning and tell freaking Siri to make me a cup of coffee. And it is ready by the time my teeth are brushed. It takes me literally half the time to get a great cup of coffee from the Jura that it did from the Gaggia. Thought others would benefit from my experience - if you’re going to spend this much on a coffee maker, the whole point of it is that it’s AUTOMATIC- you shouldn’t feel like you have taken on a part time job as a barista.

Love the coffee this machine makes
This was our first fully automatic espresso machine. We enjoy every drink it makes and it does froth the milk very well. I heard complaints that the coffee is not hot enough and I was concerned as I like hot coffee. Nothing to worry about as it’s plenty hot and you can always pre heat your cup. Would have given it 5 stars but I wish it had a clock and timer..

too many repairs for the high price.
To be honest this makes great coffee. I like the 2 year warranty but just shy of the end of my 2 years I am faced with another repair. The first time the upper door hinge corroded and broke at the 14 month mark. Now (days away from the 24 month mark) there is a problem with Pump#1 and it spews water all over the counter. It also keeps telling me to empty the drip tray and coffee grounds 1 cup after I just emptied them. It is nice to have the repairs fixed at no charge but I have to physically take the machine into be repaired and the closest place is +3 hrs (round trip). So each repair is +6hr of driving (drop off then pick up assuming no rush hour traffic). Perhaps I got a lemon but Gaggia is not willing to send me a replacement unit. 2 years ago I paid $2500+tax and expected it to be more robust than this. I wish I bought something else. I will not buy another Gaggia or Saeco expresso maker. Maybe next time I stick with a DeLonghi.

Fantastic!
I had two Saeco coffee makers before this one. They needed fixing every 3 months. The last one was exactly like this one. The only difference is the name brand (which is the original name brand before Saeco bought the model) and the fact that this one works really well. So far, one problems at all! I love it!
