I will tell you what other reviewers have not...
When I was shopping filters, I knew that I needed a powerful canister filter for my new 90 gallon tank. I had only limited luck (well, really, it sucked... literally and figuratively) with another brand that was supposedly good for 50 - 100 gallons. So I decided to go bigger and got this one. I noticed that several reviewers said that they had broken the clamps. So, when I went to clean it the first time and the clamps couldn't open it, I didn't push them too hard. I got wise and thought, let's try a screw driver... and yeah, you NEED to get a large screwdriver and push it into the seam on all sides and turn to get it loose. It's almost as if there is a vacuum. Now, why the reviewers, nor the instructions could not tell any of us this is beyond me. But it worked. So buyer beware, when opening the canister for the first time after it's been running or... EVERY time, you need to use a large screwdriver and pry it until it lets go. That way, no broken clamps. I have to say that after being a lifetime exterior hanging filter guy, I was amazed that the "water polishing" pad is so thin. I can throw a carbon/cleaner pad in most of my exterior hanging filters and leave them for waaaay past the recommended time and they do great. Crystal clear water til it's way past due for cleaning. This pad is so thin that it is overwhelmed in a couple of weeks... or so this is my experience. I will add this disclaimer... I am new to the giant tank scene so maybe my fault... Overfeeding? Expecting too much? Etc. But anyhow, be forewarned that this polishing pad is overwhelmed without much effort. And there's only one in the stages of filtration. I do love that it moves great volumes of water, is quiet and has so many biofilters, but a bit more attention to the "water polishing" pad aspect and one less stage of biofiltration would have been great. I'm still tweaking it and have hopes that it will be better in the future. PS... don't bother with YouTube... it's all people reviewing it before they've even cleaned the thing. Seriously? Like, it cleans your water well... great --- but what about cleaning it, the hardship of removing the top lid and how long does it last before needing cleaning???? Those reviewers are just out for the monetization.

So far, so good.
I'm giving it 4 stars. If it were a little quieter and came with a tube of silicone grease, it would be a solid 5. So far, I love it but I have only had it for one day. There have been reports of leaking but mine seems fine out of the box. I will update if and when that changes. I have it on a 90 gallon standard and it seems to be way more filter than necessary but then again, that's what I was going for. I have read a few 1 star reviews and I have to believe the authors got defective units or were not paying attention to what they were doing. The set up took about 1/2 an hour because I wanted to go through the directions step by step to make sure I didn't do anything wrong. After the initial set up, I don't see it taking more than 15 minutes to do filter maintenance. This is a large filter and a bit on the heavy side when full so if you have physical limitations, you may want to find a smaller unit. It pumps a lot of water so if you have fish who don't like strong current, you may want to make sure you have some places for them to hide (upside down flower pots work well). 4 filter media trays allow you customize to your filtration needs. you have to make sure the trays are locked together properly but that's easy to do, just pay attention. Leave a couple inches of extra intake and output tube so you can maneuver the filter a little. The only part that is unpleasant is the priming button. It works well but is a bit tiring if you are going to prime the filter from empty unless you can get right over the top of it. I am sure I am forgetting something but I will update if I think of something else

Good at first
This canister was really good at first. High flow and did everything it was supposed to. It's easy to clean. But the clamps are plastic and one broke after a couple months and the water flow is less than half of what it used to be when it was new. Even after cleaning everything it is still a large change in water flow from what it used to be. I've had it for 4 months.

Phenomenal!
My use: I have a 75 gallon turtle aquarium which currently holds one 8" RES. I upgraded from a Marineland Magnum 350. Filter cleaning takes about 1/2 of the time, and I do them about every 3 weeks rather than once per week with my old filter. The filter foam does not need to be changed nearly as often as advertised, I change it about every 3 months. The polishing pads I do change with each cleaning, and they're a little pricey, but it's still less than I was spending constantly changing filter sleeves on my Magnum. The good: This filter keeps the water crystal clear, and smell free despite housing a large turtle and rocks as substrate. It's incredibly quiet for such a powerful filter. I can not hear it unless I try, and it's currently not inside my tank stand. Set up is so easy, it took me about 45 minutes to set up out of the box. Cleaning the filter takes about 20 minutes, and it's so simple to just lift out the baskets and rinse. The large primer makes starting it up again easy too. The bad: It's huge. It doesn't fit inside of my aquarium stand so now I'm looking to buy a new stand, but I guess that's my fault for purchasing the stand that I did. It's very heavy when it has water in it, I would estimate it holds about 5 gallons so be prepared to vacuum some water out if you can't carry about 50lbs. It doesn't come with any cleaning products for the filter, so I had to by my own pipe cleaners which isn't a big deal, but my Magnum 350 came with everything I needed. The replacement parts like charcoal bags, filter foam, and polishing pads are expensive, so be prepared to spend money monthly if you're housing fish which are sensitive to their environmental conditions. Tip: Don't buy the prefilled charcoal bags, buy loose charcoal and invest in these. http://smile.amazon.com/CNZ-Universal-Ammonia-Remover-Bio-ball/dp/B00IJIFJGU/ Overall: If you're sick of constantly cleaning your tank, and filter. Do yourself a favor and buy this filter. Just make sure your tank stand is large enough to house it.

Leaky but powerful
Got a defective one that leaks from the handle and just going to return and go for something else. This filter is way too powerful for my tank! Only turned it on for about a minute before noticing the leak and in that time I couldn't get the outflow positioned in a way that was ok. This thing tore all the (glued!) Moss off the driftwood in my tank. If your tank is below the flow rating for this I'd suggest a smaller filter.

Don’t waste your time and money.
Awful. Incredibly loud, sucks air like no tomorrow, poorly made. We tried everything to get this filter to operate properly. Greasing all seals, double checking all fittings. The last straw was the lid being nearly impossible to attach due to being so siff/tight - made of cheap plastic. This is something we noticed immediately but assumed would ease up with use. Not the case. The clip snapped off while reattaching the lid with ZERO force. Completely unimpressed after waiting weeks for this to arrive. Returning it. Don’t waste your time or money. Go buy a fluval.
