Worth the price
There are other brands of under gravel filters on the market, but I use Lee's because I think they work well, are easy to assemble and are sturdier than the others. The plates have plenty of potential knockouts for a variety of possible setup arrangements. The up-flow tubes are adjustable to fit low or tall tanks. All UG filters are plastic, and are not indestructible, so you have to be careful when assembling and handling any of them, but the Lee's filters seem to be made of a tougher plastic.

The ONLY filter you need.
Back in the 70s, I worked after school at a local, small town aquarium shop. All we used in EVERY aquarium was under gravel filters. They turn the bottom of your aquarium into one huge biological filter. I use these in all my tanks! Problem is, after all these years, these filters are NOT promoted because you only buy it once! They go for years without cleaning. I mean like 10 plus years! No maintenance. So there's nothing more to buy. No media, or pumps- no moving parts. Just air stones. You can have other filters too, but all aquariums should have one of these!

I would not call this a filter
This does great as a bubble sort of device, it connects to an air pump to cycle through the tubes. But that's really all it does. It does not seem to do much filtering at all. They should really change the product name. That's why I'm giving it 3 stars. Its something we will use but it is not what we bought it for

HELP! WHY ARE MY AIR TUBES “BURPING”
HELP. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHY THIS OS CAUSING GIANT BURPS? I have numerous fish tanks, but only one with this undergravel filter. Both my bubbler and the air tubes with the air stones in them let out large explosions of air, about every minute or two!! I’ve set air pumps from low to high output but it doesn’t matter. Please someone???? Lee’s???? Anyone!!!???help. I have copy/pasted a previous buyers written review below as I doubt I could say it any better. The photo in the instructions is not achievable, there is no way to “join the plates”. Ours came in a sealed plastic bag in original box and after much time trying to figure out how to assemble and then reading reviews in hope for a how-to video, I just gave up. Very frustrating. “The instructions on the box do not relate at all to the contents insides the box. I doubt the person who did the directions ever even saw the filter. This is the second flop of an order from Amazon. The third time will be the last time I purchase anything other than books from Amazon. The vents or slots on the filter are shown diagonally to one another on the drawing, but in reality, the slots are lined up in parallel rows. I am unable to find the clips to join the two halves together and couldn't do so if I found them as the instruction show something not possible with the product I received”

Kinda flimsy, just assemble it carefully
Just be really careful when you snap everything into place, I didn't do it myself but can see how if one is impatient how you might chip a bit of the filter or top of the lift tube off.

i think aquarium gravel will work better and plan to use when switch to a bigger ...
i miss read the 20 liter part and bought for a 20 gallon tank. there are two plates and we are using one of the plates. we used bigger river rocks and a powerhead so it is not working the way it should. i think aquarium gravel will work better and plan to use when switch to a bigger tank. after researching and watch video the fine gravel should work better to filter the water. we have it in a turtle tank and they just nasty and a little hard to keep up compared to fish.

Great filter, just didn't come with everything as advertised.
It fits my 29G aquarium perfectly and seems to do the job, but they left out the charcoal filters. Had to buy them separately although they say that it comes with it. Disappointing. Cutting out the cutouts between the two plates takes some effort to join the two halves together. Have some pliers handy (a.k.a. some assembly required)
