Added value at stovetop cooker
Works but gets seriously, and I mean, SERIOUSLY hot. But voltage is constant and not noisy.

They keep failing, and the manufacturer offers no warranty
I bought this transformer to run 12V LED lights on my 6V Ford 8N tractor. I went to a fair bit of trouble to wire up all the new lights. I put two 12V switches downstream of the transformer--one to power the headlights and another to power the work lights. Fortunately, I put a 10A fuse upstream of this transformer on the +6V wire. When I first got everything installed, it ran just fine for about 10 minutes, but then started blowing fuses immediately after I'd install a new fuse, even when my light switches were off. My multimeter told me that this transformer had started internally shorting between the 6V positive and negative wires. I had purchased this transformer a few months before I finally installed everything, so it was outside Amazon's normal 30-day return window. Repeated emails with the manufacturer (DROK) revealed that they provide ZERO warranty on the transformer. They said that because I purchased it through Amazon, it was up to Amazon to replace it. After chatting with Amazon's customer support (something I'd never done before), they agreed to replace the defective transformer as long as I paid for shipping costs. I got the second transformer installed and tested within a couple weeks. This time, as soon as I turned on the lights and started pulling power through the transformer, it emitted a medium-pitched whine. The pitch got higher as I pulled more current (with both light switches on), and lower with less current. The lights themselves worked, though... for about 60 seconds. Then it blew the fuse. I replaced the fuse, and it worked for another 60 seconds before blowing another fuse. Everything was fine as long as the light switches were turned off, so this is a different problem than last time. Again, I had to cut through all my weather-tight, heat-shrinked connectors to remove the transformer and return it to Amazon. This is very frustrating. Unfortunately, the only other 6-12V transformers I can find with a 10A rating cost three times as much, and I've already committed myself to this project with all the time & money I've invested in the lights & wiring. I'm still awaiting arrival of the third transformer. I'll update this review after I learn how that one works.

Works good, I used it to add a 12Volt stereo module to a 6 volt car radio.
Works good, I used it to add a 12Volt stereo module to a 6 volt car radio. Great price. Must use on Negative ground Vehicles.

Needed device
The only complaint I have is that the 2 grounds are "tied" together instead of being separate lines. Which gives me some obstacles for it's use to charge a 12v battery on a tractor that has a positive ground system.

Would not work for me
This seems to be well engineered, but I was not able to use it in my application. I had to return it. The description did not include the information which I needed. I need a unit which can operate in my 6 volt positive ground Model A Ford. I assumed that the input and output circuits were isolated from each other, since they have separate ground leads. When I got it, I found out that the two ground (black) leads are connected together internally. The only way to use it in a positive ground application is to have the output circuit and anything powered by it totally isolated from ground. The CB radio which I need to power has an antenna which is grounded to the vehicle. Hopefully this information will help anyone else who wants to use this power supply in a positive ground application.

12 volt power on a 6 volt '57 Ford 600 tractor. Woohoo!
Got this wired up to run 12 volt LED flood lights on my 1957 Ford 600 series tractor with 6 volt postitve ground electric system. Put a 10 amp fuse inline on the negative side, direct off the battery. Grounded the positive side to a convenient ground point, then ran the 12 volt side to the two LED lamps. The unit is mounted out of site, under the hood. It works great, nice to have bright lights on an old tractor.

Works as it should! Antique truck
Works on my antique truck...powerful enough for a stereo and non amplified speakers

This DC-DC converter smells really bad.
Electrically it works great. No one can stand the smell though... It was probably some poorly cured epoxy or something.

'Drok' Buck Converters Are Good Units . . .
Can't really go wrong with these brand name converters. They work in near all conditions, temperatures & environments. Either Step-Up or Step-Down, Voltage Regulation is what these do best.! Example; This unit hooked to a near dead 12 Volt car battery barely reading 7 Volts and powered a hungry 12 Volt, 6 Amp Blower at full capacity until the battery really did end up dead. There was no salvaging it. There's the point. Have several for differing outputs and will always go back to Drok should more be needed. Solid quality units that deliver.! Enjoy...

it works
been using it to power the led halos on my headlights. jeep daytime running light circuit's low voltage caused them to strobe, installing this product gave them the steady 12 volts that is required.
