Amazing company support from Dock Edge, good product, poor Amazon support

I would like to give 5 stars to the Dock edge company, 4 stars to the product, 1 to Amazon. As for the "value for the money", I can't understand how the product went from $37 (September when I bought it) to $72 in December (in short, value not bad at $37, but at $72 is ridiculously too expensive). In short, I ordered 12 of them for my dock. Once assembled (easy), I first tested them, and one of them did not light properly. Instead of returning the whole thing, I thought "bad battery", got new ones, replaced it. Two batteries gave the same result, good light at first then fading out after a couple days. I then asked Amazon to exchange it; they would give me a credit on ANYTHING ELSE I ordered, but NOT a simple replacement for the defective original product (very strange to me). I then thought "ok, let's return it, and just buy another one..." Surprise! The price had gone up to $49 in a few weeks, from $37. So I went to the web site of the company Dock Edge, and was happy that they were a Canadian company (good start, not something lost in the Far East), AND had an easy-to-find form for requests about defective products (a great sign). NEXT DAY I get an email, nicely asking for a picture of the defective light and a copy of my Amazon order, and my shipping address. I sent the infos immediately, and the next day they shipped me my replacement light, received a few days later. All twelve now work well. About the lights: Fair construction, the screw-in parts threads can be finicky. Nice look, modern. Light is fairly bright, surprised me by staying on all night (still very bright before sunrise, no visible dimming overnight). Nice choice of six colors, currently displaying a Christmas pattern (red/green/yellow), fairly easy to change after unscrewing the top of the light. Good solid base, easy to install on my piling cones. Overall conclusion: AWESOME, RESPONSIBLE COMPANY; good product, what remains to be seen is longevity; fairly priced at $35-40, but appears ridiculously high now, I would not buy it again (but then, I guess we live with Monopoly money now, and people will get used to the new price and keep buying?)

Great Little Lights

I have always been skeptical when it comes to solar lights because I don’t have a good history with them. These lights have changed my mind. Installed on my dock posts simply as a visual for boaters at night. I use the blue light. They are not intended to light a path or the dock. They are simply to keep boats from getting too close to my dock/boat. They last all night until daylight, and provide the safety I wanted. We love these lights.

Great Value but False Advertising

I bought a pair of these lights to test out prior to purchasing more to go around my new fishing dock that has a 90 ft. long walkway and 20’ x 20’ deck that is completely surrounded by hand railing for the security of my elderly Father. They were extremely simple to unbox and put together and have worked well from the first day I unpacked them and set them on the patio table over two weeks ago. On the 2nd night, after a full day charging outdoors on a drizzly day, they came on at dusk and were still shining bright through the fog the next morning. I am very pleased with the brightness level and the ability to change colors. However, the information available at the time I ordered stated they came with a touchpad to easily switch colors and they did not. So the only way to change the LED color is to unscrew the cap, push down the color selection lever and screw the top back on. Not a big deal if you only have a couple but pretty time consuming if you have a lot like I planned to have. Also, it stated the wildlife deterrent stake was removable, which it is not and I do not see where it even comes in this style without the stake. While I want the stake on the walkway, I don’t want them around the deck where they can potentially get snagged in a cast and tangled up in fishing line. I suspect this feature may have been removed to prevent water getting inside the light but there should be an option to purchase without the stake at all. Overall, the quality makes these lights a great value for the price and I definitely recommend them if the stake does not present a potential issue for you. However, it’s back to shopping for dock/deck lights for my project.

Love the look on my Dock

Bought these and cone piling caps to complete the look of the pilings on my dock. They are Dim which I really wanted. Nobody on the lagoon wants bright dock lights blinded them or shining into their house. These were perfect for that. I have to dock a star because the o-ring used to keep water out isn't that great. You really have to be careful when screwing the top down or you can pinch the o-ring, it can move, etc... What happens to some of them is that get that moisture build up inside and then I have to air dry it, clean it and retighten again. I also noticed some peeling on the solar panel as well on 2 of them. They have been on my dock since July 2020...so about 5 months now. They last all night so no battery issues and at least you can replace the batteries in these when they do go bad... Only time will tell how long they last. Pic is how we have it set up for the holidays now. You can change the colors from white, red, green ,blue and yellow.

works as it supposed to

Bought three of these for our dock poles. One failed after a year and a half. The other two are still working. I have reorder another on to match. The reason I bought these with the spike, I thought I would have bird issues. As it turns out, I don't really have bird issues. If you don't have bird issues there are probably better lights out there.
