Replaced Powerflo XR32 42 teeth shifting outer ring 94mm

First time replaced an outer ring. Was tempted to replace crank set but fun with swapping out a tapered bottom bracket not in my realm of interests at the present time. Rode 30 miles on it so far, so good. I shift often even on relatively flat rides so it got a good workout. Of course am worried about its wear, having had my Powerflo XR32 for almost 20 years, but I'm happy so far.

looks cool and shifts fine

I wanted a cool chainring for my commuter. I'm running 2x7 and with this as the outer chainring Ive had no problems shifting.

Excellent Chainring.

Looked and worked as expected. This seems like a quality part. Easily installed. It fit perfectly (Now I don't have to ride continually in the highest gear.)

Not Designed for Shifting.

Good overall quality, but zero design input for shifting. No shift pins. No shift ramps. This makes shifting erratic, sketchy, and inconsistent. Will probably return.

Very light material, good quality but watch out: aluminum is soft

I paired a 34t chainring with a 11-42t 8 speed drive train. It's working well on my mountain bike, I had to fiddle with chainring initially to find the right spot (to limit chain noise) but it's working well now. Very light weight, but watch out as it is a bit soft. The ring fell on the wooden floor at home when I was opening the package and a tooth ended up a bit flatter. Hopefully the material is still durable, only time will tell. If you're doing a 1x conversation like me, maybe you want to look at a narrow wide chainring instead of this narrow one. Have I had done more research prior to buying, I'd have gone with a surely narrow wide. The Vuelta is great however if you have a one speed or multiple rings in your chain wheel and need to replace one ring.
