Those are not the shin pads you are looking for... Unless...
Ok, let's make this pretty simple: this sin pads are for grappling. I repeat, for grappling. NO for Muay Thai. If you are looking for a cheap but amazingly good shin pads for using when grappling, this are for you. If you are looking for a shin pads for Muay Thai: why are you looking at grappling shin pads? I practice Muay Thai 4 times a week, and I don't wear this for that, I wear a 100$ pair of shin pads designed for Muay Thai. Of course this are less padded that a Muay Thai shin pads, because is not designed for Muay Thai practicioners. Now, I'm getting into MMA (two times per week), and I bought this as an entry level shin pads to use on MMA training/sparring because there is a complet different sport. This shin pads are hard to put it on, and harder to remove; just because the the idea is that they stay put as you move and roll and grappling and whatever on the floor. Once and again, I will recommend this for everybody looking for a pair of cheap yet good pair of grappling shin pads. That being said I have to tell that I'm a 5'11/200 lb guy and the large ones are kind of tight on me, however I have fairly bulky legs.

Great Shin Protection
I practice Muay Thai, so I need something that offers solid protection against kicks slamming into my shins. After last weeks class I realized that myVenum "Kontact" Shin and Instep Guards , were fine for Tae Kwon Do sparring, but didn't offer the level of protection I needed in this class. Today theContender Fight Sports MMA Grappling Shin Guards (Black) arrived and after comparing them, I see they are a much tougher foam and have a stronger coating. These offer much greater protection and I have no fears about Sparring this week with these pads. I am 6" tall and weight 265lbs (it's all in my belly, so my legs are well muscled, but not much more than average sized for a 6" tall person). I ordered a large and they are very snug, but not uncomfortable, if I was any taller, or if my legs were any thicker an XL would have been the way to go.

Size Matters: Big Calves = Larger Size
I am 22, 6ft, 175 lbs. Judge me if you wish internet. The thing people leave out on their reviews was how big their calves are. It was great to know how tall they were, but I didn't realize that the size would be that much of a big deal. So I got the regular ones at first. Big mistake if you have big calves like me. To be fair, I don't have a running back's calves, but I do play basketball, so use your imagination. I would recommend if you are close to my proportions and have manly calves, go for the larger size. Now about the product. It protects me and my partner when we spar, or when I just kick the bag. Granted I'm not the best kick boxer, but as a beginner, these help a lot with learning how to do the form without having to wince in pain at every bad kick you throw. Only bad thing is that they are a "b" to take off sometimes. Not gonna lower a star for just 1 complaint, but I'll put it out there. Overall, a good buy for me.

Great for beginners
A great price for shin guards if you are just starting out. As you progress in skill level, they begin to breakdown easily and rip.

You get what you pay for...
These shin guards are okay, for the price... I train in muay thai and I don't feel they do that good at protecting the shins. They work good for temporary or light training, or for someone whose shins are already conditioned/hardened. Otherwise, if you are just starting to spar and have a long way to go with conditioning you should invest in some better shin guards. If you don't have the money these are a good alternative, just keep training light to moderate... meaning ask your partner to only kick at no more than 50% otherwise it could cause injury. I checked a kick with them on from someone who was kicking at probably 80% effort and my shin immediately swelled up. It felt like I wasn't even wearing a shin guard and it looked like a baseball was sticking out of my shin. It has been over 2 weeks and there is still a weird burning pain coming on my shin. I have had them for about 3 months, and other than that they work good.

ABSOLUTELY WORTH THE PRICE!!!!
I have sparred with these a handfull of times and unlike everyone else in the Gym I NEVER have to readjust these after throwing a kick. The padding is fairly decent exept at the foot part, not supposed to land kicks with ur foot anyway however when it has happened it left me sore, no biggie. The only downfall I can see with these in the future is that they will start to stink due to all the fabrick as oppesed to full leather ones that do not absourb sweat. These run very tight, would suggest getting a bigger size than you think. They are not the easiest to put on and take off untill you find the trick of sliding em on/off sidways.

Be careful with sizing
I'm 5'10", about 190 pounds, and I don't think I have especially large feet or calves. I ordered the "regular" size, and I couldn't even put my feet through them. They seem to be well-constructed, and they have the wonderful quality that the strap that goes under your foot is *flat*, unlike lots of cheaper versions where there's a fused seam along the edge of it. I have flat feet, and standing on that seam gets to be quite painful after a while. I've exchanged them for the "large" size, and those fit fine; they also have a Velcro elastic strap at the top that could be used to secure them, but they fit snugly enough that I don't feel like I need it.

GREAT PRODUCT
I purchased these for sparring and for bag work, they fit very snug and are secured nicely by the Velcro loop. They do not slip and slide as you are using them. The are very durable as the padding has yet to show any wear or flatten out in spots. I have read other comments in regards to them being difficult to take off but that is a by product of their design to stay on and not shift when in use. If they came off easily then they would not stay in place easily. When removing them you just have to loosen them and clear the heel before you attempt to pull them.
