Works as described, but install requires intuition.

As others noted, the grounding tab is flimsy and will recede into the assembly if you try to shove the grounding wire on it by brute force. However, if you depress the igniter button to just before the snap point, it will provide sufficient reinforcement to the tab to allow you to attach the grounding wire. This works even if you've already pushed the tab into the assembly; the button will push it back out. The instructions are a textbook example of a textbook author knowing how to prove they have the knowledge to write the book, not teach the material. Once you do figure out how to put it together, the instructions will seem obvious, but expect frustration, especially if you are trying to assemble this for installation into a grill with a burner already in it. Ultimately, I did give this product four stars because it does what it says on the tin. It is a universal fit (which I think contributes somewhat to the ambiguity of the instructions) and it does spark. My recommendation for buyers is to pair this item with a burner replacement, as I did. If I had to try and install this thing on a burner already in the grill, I'd probably give it zero stars. You really need to be able to handle the burner to get the universal fitment to work. If done properly, and you're aware of the grounding tab issue, this is a versatile and reliable product. It's inexpensive and designed to fit anything, so keep that context in mind when you buy it. You will need a moderate amount of handyman skill to get this on your grill. If you've got that, this is a great value. If you don't, a long lighter might be a better purchase.

Worked Great

I bought 6 of these for a Boy Scout Project. They worked Great! Everyone worked. In previous Reviews some said that when hooking up the Ground/Black Wire to the side connector, that the little Ground probe would push back into the Striker. All you have to do to avoid this is put your thumb nail at the base of it before pushing the Black wire into place. Yes... It is a tight fit, but it's supposed to be a tight fit!

Check the dimensions on your grill

My mistake. I ordered this without taking the measurements and it does not fit my grill. However it is my fault as this functions fine and I will find someone to give this to who can use it.

It probably works just fine if used as intended.

Installation is a little funky. It's not really adaptable/universal so if (like me) you're buying this thinking that you can just make it work on yours, just move along to the next solution. If, however, this is a direct replacement for your grill, by all means, I see no reason why it would not work splendidly.

Not well designed or specific for any grill

This appears to be a one size is supposed to fig many grill approach to an ignitor. I've had this char-broil grill for 10 years and it has performed well but the ignitor was the 1st thing to go. So I've been lighting it with an extended bic lighter manually. No big deal. I bought this a spent an hour fiddling with it to make it work about 3 times. It does not fit well, the wire contact touches the frame of the grill grounding it out. It is just a waste of time for my specific grill. I wish I had my money back along with my hour of time wasted. I'm going back to the simple bic lighter. How hard is that? btw - the button is decent and good quality it seems. The weakness is the mounting hardware for the ignitor assembly and the way it attaches to the existing burner element.
