nice steamer basket - not so great handle
My decades old steamer basket that finally started to fall apart and this one is the closest to its design. First time I ordered it the handle wouldn't stay up. Second one I got the handle does stay up but it takes very little to push the handle down and if you don't pull and twist it up 100% it won't stay up. For the price and based on the brand, I'd expect better quality. So if having a functional handle is important to you, try another brand.

better than most steamer baskets
This basket is a bit nicer than other cheap models. It has a center knob to easily pull the basket out of a pot, it has foldable feet, and is generally well constructed. Since it carries the kitchenaid brand, I imagine it will hold together for a while.

Great little steamer basket
This "steam flower" stores compactly, with padded feet that fold in, and a handle that is conveniently extendable for ease of use. The "petals" fold in and out easily and can be partially expanded if using with a slightly smaller pot. The only thing I have concerns about, is the metal possibly scratching the coating in my expensive cookware. This is probably best used with stainless steel, aluminum, or other uncoated cookware. Great little basket for steaming!

Best basic steamer out there!
There are some products that just never disappoint and this is one of them. The design was brilliant when it came out and it hasn’t changed. I have no doubt I’ll use this in the kitchen for a long time, the way I saw my mom use hers.

Screws on the bottom stripped their plastic housing in one month
I bought this steamer basket to replace the well-worn all-steel one I've been using for years. Its design is similar though the old one has a steel center shaft and the KitchenAid has a plastic center. I've only used the Kitchen Aid steamer a few times and this evening, while steaming asparagus, the center shaft came off completely and I found the screws on the bottom of the pot. I never write reviews, but I thought it important to share my experience with what I consider to be a poorly designed product.

Handle keeps falling off
Bought this to replace a “lesser quality” steamer basket that had broken. Unfortunately after about a month of use the handle fell off. It’s held on by small screws which are easy enough to reattach, but they don’t hold the handle on for long. I would say just buy a cheaper one…if they are going to break anyway you might as well save some money.

Solid quality
I've been steaming for decades... but in beat up, old, cheap steamer baskets. It's nice to see a good quality well known brand of product here amongst all the others. Especially for Amazon Vine members (we get it for free in return for an impartial review) And it's clearly the real deal. The rubber feet, logo, and steel. Notes: - The feet are nice. Not only does it prevent scratching in case that's an issue... but can get it a lot higher than my other steamers. That means you can add more water and worry less about boiling dry on longer vegetables like pototoes. - I did surprisingly actually have a bit of issue cleaning it after the first use... the residue of the vege pretty heavily stuck on. But did get it off. - I have mixed feelings on the lift handle in the center. It's nice as I'm pretty sure its safer to touch... and I had issues in the past with trying to take out steamer baskets only to have them tip/lean and spill vege into the water. But being so large, it also cuts down on the cooking space (and I'm often steaming 2 or 3 things for large meals, and need the space). This kind of undermines the previously mentioned positive of being able to have the steamer up higher. The price is a bit high I'd think. Still, it looks like a pretty good quality product, and I'm glad to have it. I'm not sure if I'd consider it again at this price point for subsequent purchases for myself or others... but 100% agree if top quality is more important than price, this is probably a great candidate for you!

Great steamer .. weird handle
I really like this stainless steel steamer as it’s generously sized and seems well made. Was easy to clean, and works great at steaming veggies However the handle seems a bit odd, it doesn’t stay in place when pulled up and keeps falling down? Maybe that’s how it’s supposed to work? Just seems like you’d want to be able to pull up on the hand I’d do carry the steamer from counter to sink
