IT is what it is
I'm not sure how effective these are but after 25 years and a few thousand hiking miles I've never came across a single bear while using one. Honestly most of the time I've used it as an alarm for my bear bag. My original Coglan's bear bell from the mid 90s broke it's strap recently. Instead of repair I decided to try out a new one and see if it's any better and can honestly say no it's not. It's not any worse either. I do like the little mesh bag. It weighs 38g grams if I remember correctly so not bad.

Has Manger sewn in bag
Loud and good quality bell. The man get sewn into the bag to hold the rattle to turn the bell "off" is a fantastic solution. Good product

Worth it, mostly
I use this to go hiking and trail running daily with my dog. I took of the magnetic sack off because it kept keeping it from working while out running/hiking. That helped. But it needs to be placed where ever you have it a certain way otherwise the bell is a little inconsistent, which defeats the purpose.

Good jingle bell
It's nice to have a little extra security in bear country. It's not an annoying sound, but, makes you feel a bit more comfortable when out in the woods.

Might work for hikers, not for dogs
Bell sounds great, carabiner is absolutely crap. Very hard to get off a dog collar. Also the whole thing is too long and dangly. My dog lost it in the brush the third time he wore it.

Terrible for biking, probably not good for bears either
This bell just isn't loud at all. I bought this to replace another cheap bell I lost. I like to use a bell when mountain biking so people can hear me coming, but this bell is probably quieter than my bike. I tried a couple different spots on my bike, even resting on the lowers of my bike's fork, but it was way too quiet. Build quality seems good for the price, and I'm not worried about the bell falling off with the carabiner, but it kind of fails at it's intended purpose.

130 % price jump over the course of two weeks!!!
I thought that this would be a good deal since it came with the carabiner attachment. I trust it better than Velcro and is easy to attach to my backpack. Happy so far! I left one of this item in my “shopping cart” and was having trouble sending the order. A glitch on Amazon’s end, I’m sure. However, a few days later, I received a reminder from Amazon but was astounded to see the price had gone from $4.95 to $11.45! Not worth it at a that price.

Love the clip but not loud enough
The metal clip is a great feature but it is not loud enough. Dog runs off leash and when in distance I can’t hear her well. Overall ok

Cheap "carabiner"
The clip, or so called carabiner, broke with a few days. I had to attach a real carabiner to use it. I'm sorry I purchased two.

Die Glocke wiegt wenig und ist laut genug um diverse Tiere zu verscheuchen. Taugt.
