The good, the ugly, and the hopefully good again

I join the rank of slow leakers. I spent half the horse show watching the elegant horses, and the other half trying to figure out why water was gathering everywhere. Ends up that after 4 months my Beloved Bot Bag (I always seem to call it that) had sprung a microscopic leak, resulting in an eternally wet side. I've hiked with these things for decades, love them, and so used the adage "everyone deserves another chance", so ordered a different brand (similar price and looks) to see how things go. If this doesn't last, then I'll have to give up on my Beloved Bota Bag. Michael Emerald

Good product, needs some DIY tweaks for performance

I use this for water when walking or hiking. Its much less bulky than a bottle or other canteens. When the product arrived i rinsed it with hot water three times, and have experienced no plastic tastes or anything. The top leaked when i first got it, so i took an extra thick hair band, cut it open to get the rubber band inside and cut it to fit the rim of the bottle cap and inserted it. This has completely prevented any leaks. You could also just by a rubber seal that would fit the cap. It has a perfect little nook where a seal would fit. I honestly have no idea why it wouldn’t already come with one, but whatever. The made in spain stamp is a bit unattractive, but the nice suede material makes it easy to stain with some leather stain. Im going to customize it with some different staining desgins. The loops that the string goes through to hold it are nice cuz you can remove the string and replace it with a wider strap. This is handy because when the skin is completely full, the thin cord it comes with digs into my shoulder and cuts off circulation. I put a nice thick strap instead and its comfortable. All in all good product made even better with some personalizations.

Don’t waste your money

Don’t waste your money the string is very uncomfortable I had to put a leather strap on there but it was a waste of my time because as soon as I started actually using it it just completely started leaking everywhere fell apart within a couple uses

Test as soon as you get it

Got two of these. The first one was perfect, the second one leaked at the cap. Luckily I tested it out before we went on our trip, so I returned and got a new one that did not leak. There is a plastic ring below the cap that is not attached and easily falls off. Not sure why they did not fasten this part. Need to rinse well before use because tastes like plastic. Used the bags on a hiking trip. I also brought the Platypus collapsable water bags, but we preferred to drink out of the bota bags. The water stayed much cooler and the opening is a bit smaller so you don't drink that much at once. Important when you are on a hike and need to be careful with your water. I did find them a bit hard to fill all the way up.

Perfectly reasonable

I do a bit of cosplay and Ren faire, and this is by far my favorite design for a water carrier. It's perfectly reasonable for modern use, and looks mostly the part for historical or fantasy applications as well. I'm glad for the two-liter capacity, since it held enough for myself plus the nieces and nephews.

Absolutely perfect for Ren fest!

I worked at the Texas Renaissance Festival this past season, and we have to have a "period drinking vessel" in order to stay hydrated on path. This was perfect! I got the 1 litre and it holds a good amount of water for a while, and is a great way to keep water on your person comfortably and hands free. I didn't use it for wine, so I don't know about that, but it lasted all season, and I plan to use it during the next one. Literally helped me survive the long days (I get severe headaches if I can't stay fully hydrated in the heat - as many do).

Started leaking day 2 of ski trip.

Was so excited to get this and use my service skiing again after 20 years. Was great for the first day and on the second day notice my shirt under jacket was all wet only to find out the bag has sprung a leak from one of the seams and ended up throwing away. Thought it was a great value, but sometimes you get what you pay for. Next ski season, I’ll spend a little more to get one of better quality.

good wine skin for the $$

I've used this on a few outings so far, and haven't had any problems. No leaks. A few possible improvements though: 1) The smallest outermost cap is not tied on with a string which is a little unfortunate. I haven't lost it yet - but this is a definite risk. 2) The little plastic collar over the cap is not actually attached to anything, and can fall off easily when the cap is not attached (washing it etc.). You have to be careful not to lose this when it inevitably falls off while cleaning.

Great for water too!

I bought it for water and carry it with me when I go out with my bicycle. The water stay cool for quite a long time- longer than any non-thermal water bottles I've had. And with a bit of practice, water can be shared with the rest of your party as it's possible to drink without touch the spout. I've mastered it when I was a kid- I had a smaller 1l one my Dad gave me and taught me how to use- and now I'm teaching my daughter, keeping the family legacy :)

I've been using these for over 40 yrs , great for water , wine etc.

I haven't bought one of these for many yrs , I've lost my old one , so looked it up and voila , here they are , exactly the same as my old one . I love it! Thank you

Leaks!!!

It arrived fast, looked great, and worked great. The first use, when over a dozen kids were asking for drinks constantly and the bag was empty almost instantly. Not so much the second use. The second time I went to use it it began leaking slowly and by the time I got back from my walk almost the entire bag was soaked as well as my side where it was hanging against. I checked the entire bag for punctures but found none so it must be a tear in the inner lining which could have only happened as a result of a manufacturing flaw.
